Hogan still very over *smackdown spoiler*

Last night, Triple H found out what the Rock did before him and that is if you are babyface and you are programmed against Hulk Hogan, you will be booed.  The fans were 100% for the Hulkster during his promo with Triple H at Smackdown last night.

I don't know whether this shows that Hogan is very over or whether it shows that Tripple H can't get any heat as a face, but I guess it proves a lot of people wrong who have been saying that as soon as he came back into the States he wouldn't get any heat.

From the Smackdown spoilers on LOP

Voodoo Child plays as Hogan comes to the ring wearing red and yellow.

I can't believe that they've got Hogan back in the Red & Yellow already, I thought that the idea was that Hogan was going to be in the Black now because it was supposed to show a "New Era" for Hogan.  Not only that but if he's going back in the Red & Yellow they shoudl have had him come out to Real American because that could have got one of the biggest pops for the last ten years if Real American played over the speakers and he walked out in the Red & Yellow, but they should have waited for a lot longer for Hogan to come out in the Red & Yellow.

Going back into the red and yellow is going to kill all his heat. I've read that Hogan didn't want to go back into the red and yellow, but for some reason the WWF forced him into doing it. I guess because they already made all that red and yellow merchandise. He won't be over much longer in the red and yellow.

Are you guys sure he was in Red and Yellow?  I asked my friend in school (who was at the live taping) what Hogan came out with, and he said the guitar music, and the Feathers and bandana around his head.  He also told me people popped for Hogan, but not as loud as he expected.  He also said The Rock didn't get great pops either.....

Can't you let Hogan have this one last big run, if the WWF can book him right then Hogan can make them lots of money and he can draw more fans in than Stone Cold, The Rock and HHH can combined.  Hogan can draw in the old fans and WCW fans.  While Stone Cold can only draw in current and mid-90's fans, The Rock can only draw current fans and Tripple H can't draw anyone.

Let Hogan have his last run because he's as responsible as Vince McMahon is for making the WWF a big brand name.

Yeah Hogan came out to the guitar music but the Wrestlingheadlines.com spoilers said he was in red & yellow.

I think the WWF are getting him to do this to sell he Red & Yellow merchandise.  Hopefully they won't keep him in it for too long.

Who do you think is going to "retire" Hogan, if he's put in any kind of retirement match?  I think it's either going to be The Rock, or possibly (but highly unlikely) Steve Austin.  It'll probably be The Rock because Austin wont work with Hogan....

Hogan in Red and Yellow will kill his heat. I don't know how long they expect Hogan to go on this run for, but by the looks of it his retirement match should be around Survivor Series, if not Summerslam.

They should have saved the Red n Yellow Hulkster garb to the very Last month of Hogan's career. Let him leave like how he came in. The clash of styles with Red n Yellow while still using Voodoo Child kinda a Contradiction in Gimmicks. Whats the matter Pat Patterson and Brisco wants to keep Real American as their theme? (See 1999-2000 Hardcore division when they came out to Real American for their matches)

In terms of the Pop, I dunno if anyone was around,  but in the early to mid 80's Bruno Sammartino did a few broadcasting/Wrestling  stints in the WWF< and people popped and chanted for him.  Check out WM1 WM2.  Sometimes it is just people remembering the good ol days and they chant.  Hogan got 2 or so years left in his contract with the WWF, they should span it out so he won't lose the Hogan phenomnia from the crowd too soon.

My feeling, throwing Hogan in the old Red n Yellow outfit just gonna tire out the Old time Hogan Marks and those Fans in the stands too quickly.  Besides Hogan was 20 pounds heavier when he last wore the red n yellow in the WWF.. Wonder if it even fits. lol

Hogan's ability to draw a decent number of fans has not been shown in a while now. Austin is a far better draw---and still manages to draw while working on TV all of the time (something Hogan did not do in the 1980's terribly often). If he can draw fans to the arenas and sell T-shirts by the truckload while working consistently

on TV (thus risking overexposure), he's an amazingly good draw.

If Hogan wasn't around, Vinnie could have placed Slaughter as his top face and done just as well. In 1984, Slaughter was every bit as over as Hogan.

The SECOND they play Real American I will mark out to the point of passing out as soon as the commercial comes on.  I love that song, it's my favorite MP3.  :D

Didn't Hogan sign a three year contract with WWFE?  If so, they why do people think he will retire this year?

Well, on wwfshopzone.com Austin's "What?" t-shirt is still at the top of the "best sellers" list (Since December).  Hogan's "Hulkamania" t-shirt just got to #1 today, and the "What?" t-shirt is at #2.  Hogan is a big draw, but I doubt his drawing power will last as long as Austin's, since Austin headlining a card has drawn the most audience......

He did in fact sign for three years so we got 2 years and 10 months of Hogan left.

Guest What?!

I'm not too sure the Red and Yellow will kill his heat. I mean, sure it did in WCW, but I always felt that WCW fans saw Hogan as WWF, and not one of their own. Now, that he's back in the WWF, which is where he belongs, I think the Red and Yellow can last quite a while.

"While Stone Cold can only draw in current and mid-90's fans, The Rock can only draw current fans and Tripple H can't draw anyone."

I think that Stone Cold can outdraw Hogan on any given occassion. So can The Rock.

Triple H is an entirely different equation though. Unless you are talking about Triple H as a face. Then Hogan definitely outdraws him.

As a heel though? It all depends on how you look at it. Nobody (with the exception of smarks) pays to go see the heels. In that sense Triple H would not draw anyone. People will pay to go see a heel lose though, especially if their favorite face is the challenger. This is where Triple H excelled. He drew people in because everyone was dying to see him lose (especially against The Rock and Austin). Jericho even recieved a huge pop when he finally dethroned Triple H as a champion, even though that decision was immediately reversed. Looking at it this way, I think that Triple H could draw as much as Hogan could now, but not as much as Hogan used to draw then. Quite a respectfull draw for a heel as far as I am concerned.

i was at smackdown! and as u will see tonight, the red and yellow only added to the ovation he got. i just about blew my loud to see him in the red and yellow, then to see all the fans wearing red and yellow and yellow bandanas. i picked up a hulk still rules shirt. u can't help but mark out for hogan at the arena. its nuts. If he came out to real american,  a brawl would've erupted. during a commercial me and my friends ran into 2 hulkamaniacs decked out in hogan gear who drove 4 hours just to see him, and even had Hulk Hogan vitamins. Hulkamania Lives.... and there's nothing that can take that away...

I've explained this thousends of times.  Slaughter was as over as Hogan with the WWF fans that were around BEFORE Hogan joined.

BUT

Hogan drew in non-WWF fans, he drew in fans from the AWA (pick up any AWA video when Hogan was around (Hulkamania existed before the WWF run you know) and see the pops he gets.) and he drew in non-Wrestling fans.  People knew of him from Rocky III and they tuned into the WWF when they wouldn't have tuned in to any Wrestling show before.  When Hogan joined the WWF it was accepted by people who would never have accepted Wrestling before, Wrestlers were invited onto TV shows that wouldn't have considered having Wrestlers on before.  This was because of Hogan's MAINSTREAM popularity.  Ric Flair didn't have mainstream popularity, Dusty didn't have mainstream popularity, Sgt Slaughter didn't have mainstream popularity, BUT HULK HOGAN DID!  Hogan's popularity allowed Vince to attempt a WWF PPV (Wrestlemania) that would have failed misarably (see NWA Starrcade) otherwise.

He did in fact sign for three years so we got 2 years and 10 months of Hogan left.

Hogan himself said that he doesn't expect to last that long.  The fact is, he can't take it physically anymore.  If you watch what he was like in 1994 when he wrestled Ric Flair he could still bump around pretty well, then watch in 1998 when he faced Bill Goldberg - he could still bump ok, but then watch Wrestlemania against the Rock.  He couldn't bump at all, maybe the rib injury had something to do with that, but he just looked like he couldn't take it in the ring.  I think he'll last a year tops.  I'd like to see him end his career at WM next year but I think Summerslam or Survivor Series is probably more likely.

whoever finally retires Hogan (unless it's Austin in Texas, Rocky in Miami or Flair in Horseman Country), is going to get booed out of the country.

I doubt if Hogan will ever not be over. He could be opening shows in Japan for all anyone cares but he'll be cheered like nuts.

Is he wasn't imortal, people would give his tmbstone a standing ovation.

Oh and not that this goes anywhere but... what will happen to Heat, Metal, Jakked and all of the other little WWF shows? Will there be some jobber roster too?

Upon further review, the red and yellow didn't look too shabby and his pops where fine... unless there was some sweetening, which is always possible.  Its only a superficial change of color, which isn't a bad idea considering the number of guys decked out in black nowadays.

Hogan will always be over with most fans.  Die hard WCW fans never took to him and a lot of smarks hate him for some reason, even though he was the first guy to ever make Wrestling popular in the mainstream.

BTW - Heat will be a show for Raw Wrestlers.  Jakked and Metal will be a show for Smackdown Wrestlers.  Excess is currently going to be 1st hour - recap of Raw roster shows and second hour recap of Smackdown roster shows.

Im willing to put mone yon a bet that Hogan will be coming out to RA before KOTR. Anyway, since when did allt eh hogan haters no what THE PEOPLE like? Last time I checked people have been wrong 9/10 times. Lets see, the majority of the signs in the audience had hogan on them. Wheres the HHH ones? Rocky? No, I happen to see more Faarooq signs then them. Simple. Rocks bit is stale (see hardys) he needs new phrases, HHH needs to be Heel, hes too tough for a face but also at times to much of a pussy.
