Why is it whenever I enter a website a certain way, or move my mouse in a certain way does it shut down my computer due to an illegal operation?! What the fuck is an illegal operation anyway?! This has been bugging me for years, I have to know!

Basically, I understand an illegal operation error to occur usually when a program tries to access an address in memory that is already being used by another program - and it generall causes at least the two programs involved to crash. Of course on the earlier Win 9x based systems that were a little less stable, that could cause the whole computer to crash.

When you start getting illegal operations it's time to do the 3 R's of Microsoft: Restart, Reformat, Reinstall...or just say a lot of time and energy and upgrade to 2K or XP

Pretty much, yeah. Windows then kills one program, so that it doesn't cause more memory problems.
