Guest teke184 Report post Posted February 8, 2002 I just got IYH: Rock Bottom on DVD and I have to say I'm less than impressed with the Attitude Line so far, as that DVD is 3 hours long and has NO chapter stops. I think they're just being sadistic because how much does it cost to put in 2 or 3 chapter stops? This wouldn't be a problem on one of the 45-minute crapfests straight from mass-market VHS, like Austin vs. McMahon or Eve Of Destruction, but the lack of chapter stops on a PPV is ridiculous. If this is how they're going to treat old PPVs, I'm not exactly looking forward to Attitude Line releases of classic PPVs like Wrestlemania 3, Wrestlemania 10, or Canadian Stampede. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 8, 2002 I agree it's bullshit! I plan on going tonight or tomorrow to get the Rock Bottom, Unfogiven DVD's. There could of done something. You know, I think it would be a great idea if the WWF put the entire Heat pre show which had about 4 matches & Raw the night after the PPV as an DVD extra for their 1998-1999 PPV's. And put the Raw & Smackdown shows from the week after the 2000-present PPV's.
Guest teke184 Report post Posted February 9, 2002 Considering that the WWF has eliminated special features on most of their current PPVs, I wouldn't get my hopes up for extras on old cheap PPVs. However, there ARE minimum standards that they should have and chapter stops on a PPV should be one of them. The only movie of any significant length with no chapter stops that I know of on DVD is The Straight Story, and that is because the director (David Lynch?) specified that particular "feature". Since a PPV is about twice as long as the average movie, it would be almost unbearable to fast forward through an entire PPV to find two or three good matches. Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted February 9, 2002 I'd be thankful that we can get old WWF PPV's on DVD.
Guest theWCWRaider Report post Posted February 9, 2002 No chapter stops? Damn, that is not cool. I would like to see all the WrestleMania DVD's however...and since its WrestleMania, (I would hope the WWF treats it better. Of course, with a lot of PPV's there really aren't a lot of good extras anyway, so why put bad extras on a DVD?
Guest Report post Posted February 9, 2002 They should put all the Raw and Smackdown shows on DVD eventually.......that will be cool.
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted February 9, 2002 The PPV's with historical significance should only be put on DVD... I dunno many people who wouold shell out $15 about 100 DVD's...
Guest HopeSpot Report post Posted February 9, 2002 I'm actually shocked that someone can stand to watch as show as dog fuckingly bad as Rock Bottom or any 1999 WWF. Let Alone buy the DVD's and complain that it doesn't have chapter stops on the net. I'm not going to buy a DVD for the sake of buying a DVD, and anyone who can sit through Rock Bottom once, twice, or buys it on DVD is legally retarded or can't recognize good wrestling. Do you guys buy every piece of shit the WWF throws down chute? And by the way, how do you know that the WWF is releasing Canadian Stampede on DVD?
Guest teke184 Report post Posted February 9, 2002 I got Rock Bottom because I was looking for something cheap to get so that I could close out my giftcard at a certain retailer. The reason I complained about the chapter stops is twofold: 1. This means that NONE of the Attitude releases will have chapter stops, not just Rock Bottom, which most people won't buy. 2. There are only one or two matches worth watching (Owen-Blackman being the only one that comes to mind) and I'd rather not fast forward through an hour of total crap to find the one good match. I'm REALLY pissed that Unforgiven, which I've ordered, won't have chapter stops because I wanted to be able to put the Dude Love vs. Austin match on a compilation tape at some point. And as for Canadian Stampede, the WWF has been putting out old PPVs from 1998 on Attitude Line VHS tapes and DVDs (Breakdown and Judgment Day are Attitude VHS tapes, but not DVDs yet), so it wouldn't be a stretch for them to start putting PPVs from 1997 on cheap VHS tapes or DVDs. Don't be so sure of that. The only PPV's (beside WM) that the WWF has been putting on video in the last 5 years has been stuff that is a "WWF Home Video". Not a Coliseum Home Video. The oldest PPV's available on WWF.com are One Night Only & Ground Zero, which are also the first WWF Home Videos. Hell, I don't even think they sell those anymore, I bought them a year ago, when they were on clearance for $7.99.
Guest Report post Posted April 17, 2002 The Attitude dvds are horrible. What's the point of buying a wrestling dvd without anything but the event itself?
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 17, 2002 The lack of chapter stops is the true cardinal sin of DVD. It's even worse than a shoddy transfer and a bare-bones disc... and as for extra matches from RAW and such, I agree it'd be a great idea, or even just a mini-feud recap, but it'll never happen. The lack of attention paid to detail for the "Attitude" line shows that its just another quick cash cow. Or it could be a genuine mistake that will be rectified with the next few "Attitude" releases, but I'm tired of giving the WWF the benefit of the doubt and looking like an idiot when they don't take it.
