Stone cold losing his edge?

Recommended Posts

Guest cobainwasmurdered

Is It Just Me Or Is The Stone old Character Getting Really Tired, boring, and cliched? It's like a self parody. as Jay said on the front page the fans seem to just be going through the motions when he's out there.

So What Can Be Done To Freshen Up The Stone Cold Character? Or Can Anything Be Done?

I wish he turned heel and went back to his 1996 days. He defined the 2 words = Bad Ass.

it'd help my view of him if they did their best to kill that dumb ass "what" shit.

He lost his edge in his ring a couple of years ago after the injury.

But hes still great on the mic, and passable in the ring.

Hes definately got quite a few more years in him save for bad injury.

He pretty much is the same like how he was in 1996, but now the fans are so used to Badasses.  I think he should go back to being the psychotic paranoid heel he was last year, but not a coward-like wrestler.  Kind of like the clever-opportunist-psychotic-rampaging Stone Cold we once knew.....and I want him and Angle to form a unit.....

sorry for the double post.

"I wish he turned heel and went back to his 1996 days. He was the the definiation of Bad Ass."

it would be extremely hard to turn him, they tried it in 2001 didnt work. Hes just doomed to stay face forever. The only thing I think could have turned him would have been a feud with Hogan, where he constantly beat on Hogan backstage, ran him down in interviews, but dosnt look like thats happening..ever.

I don't think he's lost his edge.  His character is a little more stale then the one we all fell in love with back in 96, 97, and even 98.  I think Stone Cold Steve Austin has held up remarkably well considering how long he has been with the WWF, and how wrestling has changed in the past few years.

blah triple post, im on form tonight.

well not really a triple post, but anyway.

I bet he could do it by simply uttering "If your tired of saying what gimme a hell yeah, cause I sure as hell am"

He could of course think up a fresh new catchfrase.

Passable? If Austin is "passable" then HHH is total shit and Hogan is unspeakable. Well, maybe they are, but you get the point.

I think Austins in ring work, is still solid if not what it used to be he had several quality matches in 2001, although he really has not had the space to shine(if thats the right word) in 2002

you can thank Triple H for that.

Yet another moment in which I agree with Anglesault.  I don't see why some people can't stand him.  Well anway, as it pertains to Austin's character, pending the fact that Triple H has maticulously schemed the so-called depushing of Austin, Angle, and Jericho, I think if Austin were to turn heel, he should join up with Angle (covertly) and each would run roughsod (spelling?) on Raw and Smackdown.  I think that would be interesting to see.......

Hunter will never allow that. He fears Austin Angle and Jericho.

Thus, they feud with Hall, Edge (sad.gif) and Lita respectively.

And the Pussifying of the Rock. And Taker's time is coming at Backlash. Come to think of it, is there ANYONE in the WWF that can compare to HHH? Has Hunter just totally destroyed all the top names to the point where he is the only real contender on top?

Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho, Rob Van Dam, Steve Austin, to some extent The Rock.  Triple H has had a hand in the depush of the five top wresters in North America.  What else can this man do?

Yeah, Triple H would never feud with any of those guys.  Oh wait...

Yeah, Austin, Jericho, Austin, and Rock have never been at the top of a card.  Nope, never.  Never ever.  Nope.  And especially not when Triple H was around.  Nope, thats crazy talk.

the point is they were, with Jericho and RVD they were just gaining incredible heat. Then they received a rapid de-push, courtesy of our man Hunter.

Although, I dont know if The Rocks new place as Hogans little buddy is a result of Triple H.

But facts are facts and RVD, Angle, and Jericho have all fallen from main eventing to midcard damnation.

Lets see, Triple H has been at 3 PPVs since returning (I think)... one in the Royal Rumble, one losing to Angle, and one winning against Jericho.  There have been a grand total of no Pay Per Views where one of the guys mentioned haven't been in the main event.  If you want to count Backlash before it actually happens, fine, but I can certainly see why they would want to cash in on Hogan's resurgance as long as it lasts.

Austin headlined Raw with the whole where's he going to sign thing, Jericho and Rock are in the main event tonight, Angle gets constant camera time (even though he's feuding with the top Smackdown midcarder at the moment), and RVD is IC Champion whose push has been unsteady since the InVasion ended.  But if you want to pretend none of those guys is important to WWF programs, please, don't let me stop you.

Jericho was Unified Champion, not being that is going to be a depush as soon as it happens, no matter how it happens.  Lets face it, Jericho wasn't good enough to carry the ball, so it got taken from him.

RVD's heat got destroyed because they couldn't forge a direction for him to go in.  Gee whiz, the WWF didn't have a direction in mind for someone.  I am amazed.  It must be Triple H's fault. (???)  You do know that Triple H isn't the only person in the federation that is in booking meetings right?  He doesn't run the whole place.

look at the four of them at Mania

RVD: Curtian jerking against regal for IC title

Angle: Facing KANE 4575765655 matches down from the top

Austin: Facing SCOTT HALL 5 matches from the top

Jericho: Made to look like Hunter's BITCH in the main.

Now look at them

RVD: pot on a pole feud with Eddy

Angle: EDGE FUCKING EDGE!

Jericho: Lita?

Austin: X-Pac?

Not to mention RVD's main event run ended January 7th and Austin or Angle haven't touched the mains since the whole clique came back BUT X-PAC HAS!

And Hunter's ringwork and mic work SUCKS, and he is the fifth most over face. When are they taking it from him?

RVD had a direction and a feud with Jericho up to January 7. Then it was Test and Goldust. You know, that January 7 date sounds familiar. Did something else happen that day?

You do know that Triple H isn't the only person in the federation that is in booking meetings right?  He doesn't run the whole place.

I believe he's the only one who goes out of his way to bury people in them, thouh. And he IS fucking the Booker, keep that in mind.

to be fair, Austin's problems probably have more to do with his NwOld boycott that Hunter. But we all know what happened to Jericho. And this big main event tonight Goodear's excited about, why are they fighting tonight? Who gets to fight the great hunter. As for RVD, he dropped form the top to the middle the very day Hunter comes back, that huge Regal feud not withstanding. Meanwhile, Pac is maineventing. As for Angle, I'm sure 'Sault will be happy to explain that one to you.

Jericho was doing great till he was stuck with Stephanie, predictably burrying him.

RVD's heat got destroyed because he was booked out of the main event to the opening match. No Triple H dosnt run the whole place his wife and the clique seem to help out here and there.

What was cool about Austin in early 98 was that he wasn't a babyface.  But the fans liked him...but he also DIDN'T CARE what the fans or anyone thought of him.  Wrestling needs to stop doing this good guy vs. Bad guy, heel vs face, crap.  It just makes wrestling look bad.

IMO, fans are craving more REAL action during this wrestling downtime.  They don't like the hot tag, they don't like "the bad guy" getting dominated, they want more sports and less entertainment.
