Guest areacode212 Report post Posted April 5, 2002 I assume you're using Windows. Just...delete it and empty the recycle bin. I've found that cleaning up your "Temporary Internet Files" gives you back a TON of space. In IE, go to Tools-->Options, and in the Temporary Internet Files section, click on Delete Files. It may take a while, but it can free up several hundred MBs.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 5, 2002 get a program like Norton Clean Sweep to do a complete job of deleting all the file, dll, register. Using the windows explorer goto Window Temp files folder and delete the files that you might have from P2P programs but be carefull that they are the copys not the orginals. If you do not know what it is leave it alone. Use the Control Panel use the add/remove icon to remove the programs Use the uninstall file from the start menu
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 5, 2002 It may be personal preference, but I don't like Norton Cleansweep. They make a good Utilities and Anti-Virus program, but the rest of Sytemworks is really substandard. Use a program like that if you really feel you must, but I think going in and delting the files yourself is the best way to do it. Before we ghost PCs up to the network at work, we always delete Temp and the Temporary Internet Files (and Netscrape cache). Be careful uninstalling programs, though, as they tend to leave registry entries behind. For registry cleaners (which doesn't free up a lot of space, but can solve a wealth of other problems), I like the one that comes with Fix-It Utilities, made by (I believe) OnTrack Software.
