Who's your favorite "old school" heel?

I marked out for Dibiase managing the Steiners, because it seemed odd he would ally with Hogan(after trying to beat him so much).  Joining the Steiners was ACTUALLY in tune with his character, his character didn't like Hogan, would it matter that Hogan was "heel"?  No.

 

I also liked when Vincent tried to interfere against the Steiners and Dibiase beat the crap outta him.  Great stuff.

I would have loved a promo against the NWO with Dibiase that went like.

mid 80's Piper had Bob Orton in his corner basically his muscle, and Piper was the mouth. Basically the started the concept of vignettes with Piper's Pit, and the best like was born

I remember the original Sheik (Sabu's uncle, or so I've heard). Back when I was a kid he seemed like the embodiment of evil to me.  No opponent, no matter how tough or popular ever escaped the inevitable crimson mask when they fought the Sheik (and the ever present pencil in his boot).  Here was a character whose evil seemed so total to me that it inspired more than mere hate.  It inspired awe.

That is correct. He also trained RVD and Scott Steiner on top of Sabu. Sabu and Sheik also tagged in japan towards the end of Sheiks active days.

I would have to go with Rick Rude or Steve Austin.  I remember thoroughly enjoying both of them when I watched WCW around late 1993.  I also enjoyed Rude's WWF stint, and what little I saw from him from the Dangerous Alliance.

I was watching this WWF/WCW Dec.1991-Mar.1992 5 hour comp today and to of the sickest heels were Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Big Van Vader!!!

Bad News Brown was brilliant, i always saw him as an anti-hero in a way, he could probably be way over today with the same character. I loved how he didn't give a shit about anyone and was a real grumpy bastard, he was a loner with attitude. It was funny when he deserted his team at Survivor Series 89 and tricked Bret to win the battle royal at WM4.

 

When i first started watching WCW on a regular basis Vader was just completely in his pomp. I was in awe of him, he was so dominant and impressive in the ring. It was great how he used to shout out stuff like ''no pain''! and the like when someone actually managed to lock a move in on him, he normally did this with grimace on his face so he sold his toughness without totally no-selling his opponents mood.

 

Rude and Dibiase were unbelievable heels, they got great heat from the fans by playing truly obnoxious characters perfectly. The fans just wanted desperately to see either get beaten or fall flat on their faces. The amazing reaction Virgil got when he dumped Dibiase is perhaps the greatest compliment ever made to the effectiveness of the 'Million Dollar Man' gimmick. People really cared that someone was sticking a finger in his face because he so very rarley got any commupance for his arrogant heelish ways.

 

'Evil Jake' deserves a mention for creeping me out when he went after Savage & Liz and i also loved Regal when he was 'Lord Steven' in WCW during his first TV Title runs. I especially liked his disgusted sneers at the crowd, he didn't need Bill Dundee to get any heat at all as he could do it effortlessly.

I didn't notice until today when I was watching a WWF/WCW Dec.1991-Mar.1992 5 hour comp today that Vader did some like ceremony thing with his huge helmet before the match. He was in a 6 man tag with the Taylor Made Man and Cactus Jack and they all stood around it and put up there arms and smoke starting shooting out of it.I was laughing so hard when I saw it,it just came across as really funny for some reason.
