AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 I'd heard lots of good things about it, but I had no idea you could actually get ahold of one easily here. I assumed you had to have a Chinatown near you that has a selection of vastly expensive imports and dozens of bootleg pirate junk from Hong Kong and stuff. Low and behold, I checked out 411 and turns out you can get the system and 6 games from EB, plus you can get an extra 4 games packed together as well. http://www.411mania.com/games/columns/arti...columns_id=1492 I called up my local EB, and shockingly, they had 'em. So, I picked one up, and all the games there. I like the games all except for Turf Masters (a golf game). Pac Man's one of the titles too, so may be a bit too old-school for some people. Half of the games are fighters. So there are about 48% more non-fighters than on say, the Neo Geo console. Being a little spoiled on the GBA, the graphics don't impress as much. Plus all the fighting games have SD characters, and you'd think Neo Geo would stick two more buttons on this thing, knowing they'd have fighters. Still, I'm not disappointed, so I'd recommend it as long as you don't insist on graphics as good as the GBA.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted October 9, 2003 I know someone that has one and they are cool. SvsC: MOTM is nice. I was going to pick one up with that deal at EB but my local store doesn't carry it yet and I am too lazy to buy it online.
dubq 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Hey, a buddy of mine actually wrote that article.. and he convinced me to get one too. It's an amazing deal if I do say so myself, it's just too bad that SNK isn't producing any more titles for the system.

There's less effort involved than going to an actual EB store!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 Yeah, I love SvC. I'm shocked at how well the games play because you wouldn't think the pad would be good for fighters. Yet, here I am, pulling off Siberian Suplexes and Spinning Piledrivers effortlessly. It's kinda like every fighting game is Pocket Fighters with different characters. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 EB requires a credit card for online purchases. Sakura: you could call up EB and tell them you want it, and they could have it come in on the next shipment. I'd imagine they can do that since I can easily do that for any CDs I want to get from the music stores.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2003 The Neo-geo pocket is an awesome portable, so much so I actually bought two (one was second hand). The mini arcade stick is pure genius and the games are addictive. Screen is clear and sharp and easy to see even though its not backlit, not to mention the fact that it has the best battery life of any portable console I've seen. The two button system actually works shockingly well with fighting games and I really wish they used in on the GBA (holding the button for longer turns it into a heavy attack). Games I own: SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium The King of Fighters R-2 Metal Slug: First Mission Samurai Shodown 2! Sonic The Hedgehog: Pocket Adventure Fatal Fury: First Contact Evolution RockMan Battle & Fighters Metal Slug: 2nd Mission King of Fighters R-1 SNK Gals' Fighters SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighters 2 Expand Edition SNK vs Capcom: Card Fighter's Clash - Capcom Version (might be getting an SNK version soon) The Last Blade

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 Evolution RockMan Battle & Fighters Metal Slug: 2nd Mission Renegade: Except for Gals' Fighters, I pretty much have all the same titles as you. Can you give me your opinion on those above games, and how I might be able to get ahold of them? Oh, and I've gotten up to "Sky Chase" zone in Sonic--is there a point where this game becomes more than a blatant Sonic 2 clone? I loved Sonic 2 and all, but wondering if there's more. Hey, a buddy of mine actually wrote that article.. and he convinced me to get one too. It's an amazing deal if I do say so myself, it's just too bad that SNK isn't producing any more titles for the system. Cool--the article also inspired me to quote one of the few entertaining posts I've seen on Gamefaqs. DIE, N-Gage, die! The balls of that EB clerk to try to convince me to get an N-Gage instead (he knew I had a GBA already). I been interested in it for a while, but as I mentioned, I didn't know they were available to US gamers outside of import shops.
Guest The Notorious CRD Report post Posted October 10, 2003 I, too, purchased a Neo Geo, on eBay. I was happy with the deal I got (system, 7 games, accessories) for approx. $78. Alex Lucard pimping the NGPC over the N-Gage was hilarious, I must add. Mostly because I completely agree with him.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 Has there ever been a system as outright hated at the N-Gage is now? There's been some bad systems that created apathy--which isn't the same, though. Eh, it was going to be PSP fodder at the very most anyway.

Eh, it was going to be PSP fodder at the very most anyway. Nokia is getting in way over their heads. I noticed some threads on the Gamefaqs boards. Several posters who are EB/Gamestop employees say they've only sold a couple at most. Sorta on topic--I wonder just how long until Capcom brings out Pocket Fighter Advance. It'd seem a natural choice, plus there's no problems with button limitations.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 I have a Neo Geo Pocket Color. I have Capcom vs. SNK and Samurai Showdown 2, but I can't find Samurai Showdown 2 anywhere in my house. I think I lost it.
Renegade 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 (edited) Evolution RockMan Battle & Fighters Metal Slug: 2nd Mission Renegade: Except for Gals' Fighters, I pretty much have all the same titles as you. Can you give me your opinion on those above games, and how I might be able to get ahold of them? Metal Slug: 2nd mission: What the first metal slug should have been. Better graphics, 3 vehicles and about 40 missions and also a very excellent time attack. You should be able to find this game at any good import site or shop, or give ebay a try. I got it from my local when it was released. RockMan Battle & Fighters: Much like the arcade games, complete with classic style megaman graphics, as a fellow megaman fan I very much recommend it…although I have no idea where you would be able to find it. I got it from a friend who went to Hong Kong a while back. Evolution: Only 5000 English copies of the rpg were made and quite frankly it’s not worth it. Good graphics and decent character interaction let down by frustrating battles and a pathetic save system. This game is expensive, especially at Ebay where it can fetch very handsome prices. Try www.buyrite.net , they might have it, but personally I would only consider if you wanted to complete a collection. Again I got my copy again at my local when it was released. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2003 Is 2nd mission just based on Metal Slug 2, like X is (I think), or is it an original game?

Renegade 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Is 2nd mission just based on Metal Slug 2, like X is (I think), or is it an original game? Not really, as much as 1st mission is based on metal slug 1. Metal slug X was metal slug 2 minus the horrendous slowdown and a few backround changes and item locations. Also you would get some of the bosses in a slightly different order.
