Guest HBK WILL ROT IN HELL Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Some people would say 98 was the worst survivor series but i think due to the talent on the roster survivor series 99 was worse and up there with the all time worst. First their was the big build up to HHH Vs Austin Vs Rock but then we all know what happened. Plus Chyna Vs Jericho for the IC title. The survivor series style matches sucked aswell. I could go on but what do you think was the worst?
Guest Some Guy Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 89 was pretty bad too. 98 at least had Rock/Mankind and 99 well it had nothing I can think of off the top of my head.
Guest DEEP THOUGHT Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I would say that 1997 was the worst one. The subtitle of "Gang Warz" says it all. Billy Gunn getting the final pin in the opener after missing a leg drop off the top rope by three feet. Kurrgan pinning all four members of the DOA with his one move -- the sidewalk slam. The 3 minute joke between Owen and Austin. And of course the infamous screwjob which caused me to stop watching wrestling for over a year. 1989 was bad, but I didn't think it was as bad as say 1990. Both years had almost the same format for the card, but 1990 was worse as it was tremedously rushed, leading to several guys (Jim Neidhart, Paul Roma, one of the Bushwackers) getting pinned by weak clotheslines. I would say that the three worst Survivor Series PPVs are... 1997 1998 1991
Guest RetroRob215 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I would say 98 because I find it very boring. The longest match was 11 minutes. Almost every match was overbooked (thanks Russo) and short. A lot of people think the show is OK because it culminates a lot of storylines, but the matches were too short for my liking.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I will say 2000. It wasn't that it was horrible wrestling wise (although it certainly wasn't good) as much as it was so frustrating to watch. The main event was absolutely attrocious, and since that was the big angle of the second half of 2000, it really pissed me off to no end.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I didn't like 99 very much. Tainted by The Big Show's WWF title win.
Guest Tony149 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I say 1999 & 2000 are the worst. Both shows sucked. Remember HHH cheating death?
Guest tpww7 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I say 1999 and 2000 too. Both shows were pure crap
Guest nWoScorpion Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 1997, 1998, 2000 were all pretty bad. Since im a mark, I actually liked em all from 1987-1991, 1992 was good, 1993 was good and son on til 1996. 1997 probably is the worst with obvious reasons.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I liked every Survivor Series pre-1997. Since then 1997, 1999 & 2000 were crap, 1998 was okay, and 2001 was good.
Guest SmarkySmark Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I can't believe you're bagging on '91.....that was awesome. The Elimination match with Bret, Piper, Flair, DiBiase and all them was great plus the beginnings of the Rocker's breakup and Undertaker beating Hulk Hogan.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Am I the only one that actually liked SS98. I guess I'm just a mark for one night championship tournaments.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Okay, I'll bite and admit it: I bought the replay of S.Series '00 after reading of the HHH car incident ending. I wasn't aware how cheaply made it was until I saw it. But I'll admit to appreciating if every 18 months or so they go and destroy something I can't afford, assuming it actually helps a feud (to use a recent example, Ambulance Assault did nothing to help a Dream Match feud.) Seeing how, at the time, the buildup to SS (with HHH revealed as Austin's true assailant and quite a bit of blowoff after No Mercy) felt like the page had turned in the WWF storyline, so I expected a "You dropped me on my head with a car you son of a bitch" Austin/Hunter match, but what do I get? A tag team? The two-man power trip? Bah! Killed a damn feud with good build with that ending.
Guest Tony149 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Am I the only one that actually liked SS98. I guess I'm just a mark for one night championship tournaments. I liked it. It told a good story. The wrestling wasn't great, but that should be expected with most tournaments.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Personally, 1993's SS was the worst because it was so family oriented and aimed at the children. The comedy match with Doinks vs Headshrinkers has to go down as the worst match i have ever witnessed. A turkey, water, an empty bucket(not used to actually hit someone), a bucket of water, and a bucket of confetti were all used. The crowd was about dead through the whole "match"
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 I hate years 1998 through now because they're part of the Attitude era.
Guest Drury37 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 I thought 1999 and 2000 weren't the greatest, but every WWF Survivor Series had something good in it. Thanks.
Guest Sloeberdeef Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 The 1992 Survivor Series were the worst in my opinion. The card had some good matches, but it was the first year without the traditional elimination matches. I never understood why the WWF did this. To me, those matches had a unique feeling to them (like the Royal Rumble match).
Guest Risk Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 I hated 2001, because I knew it would be the last time we ever saw WCW and ECW. F*ck you, Vince.
Guest alfdogg Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 I've seen everyone except for '96, and the worst ones, IMO, were 91 & 93, with 92 up next.
Guest alfdogg Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 Damn, I must be the only one that liked the 89 version. I mean sure, the wrestling was bad, but it was fun to watch (especially the Heenan stuff) and the commentary was hilarious.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 I'm with you, alfdogg. SS89 is the only SS i own and the commentary and Heenan make up for the craptacular matches.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 The 1995 KOTR brought new levels of sucking to the WWF.
Guest The Man They Call Texas Blu Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 I didn't mind 2000, and 2001 wasn't that bad either
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 I liked 2001 but it was hard to watch because it was obvious that WCW and ECW were both going to die that night.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 I've seen them all and to me the worst one was SS 97 for the obviou reasons that are asociated with that show.
Guest Risk Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 I would have marked out so much if the WCW/ECW Alliance had won. THAT would have been a shock.
Guest dreamer420 Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 I was cheering for the Alliance that night too, mainly because the wrestlers I wanted to see were all in the Alliance. It would have been interesting to see what they would have done with WCW taking over the WWF.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted April 14, 2002 Report Posted April 14, 2002 i said 93 was the worst but after viewing it again today, it rocks bells. The doink bullshit does deduct from the awesome matches but its a great card. Some great SMW action and shawn micheals and his knights against the harts. what more can you want?
