Guest Karnage Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Hey, does anyone in Canada know why TSN has adopted ESPN style lettering and has to show so much of their coverage? Did the Disney Corp. push TSN around or something?
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I believe they did.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Fuck, we're lucky they only changed the lettering. CTV was pretty close to letting them rename it ESPN Canada.
Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Network Telemedia owns both TSN and ESPN, and ESPN actually has 20% in TSN television rights. Thats why TSN has the ESPN logo, and Sportscentre
Guest starvenger Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Actually, Bell Globemedia is the majority ownner in TSN and CTV. ESPN owns a part of TSN (I think 10%), and their influence has thankfully been limited to changing the logo and graphics as well as the renaming of SportsDesk to SportsCentre. Guest Karnage Report post Posted April 7, 2002 So just by having a share of 10% of TSN could almost getting it renamed ESPN Canada?
Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 7, 2002 I think that when CTV took control of TSN, they were trying to make ESPN happy (so they could steal a lot of their material for later use).
