Guest HBK16 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 In an issue of Toxxic magazine they had a bunch of ranking with federation all over the world. There was a ranking about the top 5 international hardcore wrestlers. This one made me think of how much they really do know about wrestling. By the way these ranking were as of January 2000 Here are their top 5 international hardcore wrestlers: Mitsuhara Misawa Vader Rob Van Dam Keiji Muto Chris Benoit There are atleast 50 other wrestlers that I think are more hardcore than all of those guys. Guest Jubuki Report post Posted April 6, 2002 You had to think about it? This is like that Danish site that has all the *****+++++ ratings on it...crap like that shouldn't get published in any form. Viva la censorship of retards!
Guest dr deaf Report post Posted April 6, 2002 subtle like a sledge hammer. What next, are you going to be calling yourself 'the game'?
Guest Jubuki Report post Posted April 6, 2002 "What?" Was there a point to that other than trolling?
Guest HopeSpot Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Shit like this belongs in the pool of ignorance and stupidity that is the WWF folder, but hey at least the WWF folder keeps all the 13 year-old dipshits out of here. And Chris is the constant use of "what" your subtle way of flaming me?
Guest dr deaf Report post Posted April 6, 2002 maybe she's a wwf mark in hiding. The point of that was humor, pure and simple. No trolling, I really don't feel like picking on anyone.
Guest Jubuki Report post Posted April 6, 2002 What? Quit working yourself, Hope - you don't register on anyone's radar screen enough to deserve subtle cracks being made on your person. I wonder why more threads in this folder aren't yanked...
Guest dr deaf Report post Posted April 6, 2002 because just maybe it's no some elitist board. Here's an idea, maybe you can start your own. Just and idea is all. Take it for what it is.
Guest Jubuki Report post Posted April 6, 2002 The whinings of people who can't hang with "elitists"?? OK, will do!
Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted April 6, 2002 It is an interesting step bladder to achieve internet recognition. WWF fans hate Puro fans. Puro fans then go on to hate "Puro Elitists" or "Wrestling Elitists in General". It is funny, at least to me, how some people get so uptight and antsy when their "views" get challenged...i.e. the Mutoh is God 2001 saga. Tim
Guest TopSecretMan Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Step bladders are always interesting.
Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted April 6, 2002 "Step bladders are always interesting." Well, I have never had one, but I guess they are interesting, at least to trolls. Tim, who is more than willing to add some real wrestling content but fears that it would just lead to a thread like this one.
Guest dr deaf Report post Posted April 6, 2002 is a puro elitist really all that much to aspire too? I mean, what does that say about the amount of free time you have on your hands and how you spend it? So I don't choose to spend my entire life research abstract facts about wrestling in a land I will not likely visit anytime soon. Have you ever thought to maybe just enjoy the matches and not compliment yourself on how far you can get into the mind of the wrestlers and comment on how fabulous a head lock is? I'm not meaning to flip you any shit and you've been a good resource for questions I've asked previously but why why attack people who know no better? Why not just ignore them and go on? It's wrestling we're talking about. Not shakespearian plays. Smile and have fun.
Guest Jubuki Report post Posted April 6, 2002 An "elitist" must be something to aspire to -- if nimrods hate them, I wanna be one, damnit! Looks like I'm succeeding! And I would "just enjoy" the matches, but see, I want to understand why I react the way I do to what I see - I want to know the difference between good and great, not so I can dictate it to others, but so I can explain myself adequately, rather than just saying, "I don't know, I just like it" like every other putz around here who expects everyone else to piss their pants because Wrestler X can take a sick bump off a Roaring Japanese Ocean Exploding Whirlwind Millennium Cross-Legged Suplex Hold. Who honestly gives a fuck about that? If I'm not going to expect anything from it, I may as well watch the WWF. Or old WOW tapes. Or NWA-Wildside. Or my local backyarders. Besides, I've already spent my time as a theatre critic, and there's only so much Shakespeare one can read and see...not to mention wrestling comes in smaller chunks and isn't full of wishy-washy, emasculated characters. Except for Adrian Adonis, but he ruled.
Guest Tim Cooke Report post Posted April 6, 2002 "I want to know the difference between good and great, not so I can dictate it to others, but so I can explain myself adequately, rather than just saying, "I don't know, I just like it" like every other putz around here who expects everyone else to piss their pants because Wrestler X can take a sick bump off a Roaring Japanese Ocean Exploding Whirlwind Millennium Cross-Legged Suplex Hold. Who honestly gives a fuck about that?" I think the first part of the statement is where I can most relate. Back in the fall of 2001, I thought I was done with wrestling. I thought I had gathered all I needed and it was time to move on. After all, I had seen: ALL of MPro 1996-97 ALL of WCW's Best stuff (minus the Windham/Scorpio 1993 match which I will seen sooner or later) The Premiere NJPW Juniors action The Best of Toryumon Etc I hadn't seen nearly enough of All Japan, but I figured since I had seen the top 4 matches, that would do since in my mind "all the matches were the same." I hadn't seen nearly enough Lucha, but I didn't understand Lucha (I still don't in some regards but I am learning). Joshi, a bunch of women doing wrestling was not my thing...until I realized that was as stupid as WWF fans proclaiming MOTYC from HHH. When I realized that I had not in fact seen everything that was good, I went searching. I didn't want to see any more of the Misawa/Kobashi head drop fests...but I did want to see where they came from. So I went out and started to get some early 90's AJPW. I went back to try to understand Lucha and got some tapes. And I made what I thought would be a simple trade that turned into so much more. I had heard much pimping of the Destroyer at other boards and wanted to see it for myself. After watching Vol 1 of his matches, I haven't looked at matches the same ever since. Watching the Destroyer made me realize how with simple and smart work, wrestling can become something infinite, something that will never grow old and never be able to stop. And after just watching a Destroyer match on the 2nd vol of the series, I am even more fascinated and hooked by wrestling than ever before. So when someone comes in here and see's a regular tv match of Dean Malenko v Eddy Guerrero from NJPW in 1993 and calls it ****3/4, I question it. Certainly opinions are allowed, but if you know what came before it in terms of wrestling style and each man's achievements, I think you would have a different opinion. I still feel uneasy about rating some stuff. Lucha is very hard for me to rate and I won't take a stab at Joshi until I see almost everything that is good from that wrestling world. So when people are throwing out ****1/2+ to Mutoh matches from 2001 and run of the mill Junior action, I question their thought process. Just some clarification. Destroyer v Mil Mascaras thoughts tommorow. Tim
Guest HopeSpot Report post Posted April 6, 2002 "maybe she's a wwf mark in hiding." If that was directed towards me I'm a he not a she, and don't get all uptight I just bash the World "travelling carnival of adolecent idiocy and hipocriciy" Federation because I feel the need to point out stupidity and ignorance where I see it, like that chick from Ghost World or some thing. Besides I'm not a puro elitist I loved ECW/WCW/SMW I just hate the WWF because it's a manly soap opera and they've got an army of pissy little shills "Hogan vs. Rock was trancedent a CLASSIC match for the ages ETHERAL MOTYCCCC!!!!" X-8 being the first time I watched the WWF in a years time, what a fucking god awful show, the fact that the show was praised is testament to the stupidity of the American wrestling fan. "Quit working yourself, Hope - you don't register on anyone's radar screen enough to deserve subtle cracks being made on your person." Whatever. "If I'm not going to expect anything from it, I may as well watch the WWF. Or old WOW tapes. Or NWA-Wildside. Or my local backyarders." A-fucking-men. That's one of the few things you've said that didn't make me want to put my fist through my monitor. "Back in the fall of 2001, I thought I was done with wrestling. I thought I had gathered all I needed and it was time to move on." That's pretty much how I feel now, I watch more MMA than wrestling. Maybe I need to watch some Destroyer matches, but if I got Galavision I'd watch wrestling on a weekly basis again so it's not like I want to stop watching wrestling. Whatever, just watch what you like and don't sweat the small stuff I guess.
Guest dr deaf Report post Posted April 6, 2002 nah, it wasn't a shot at you hope, but just another attempt to stir fir. I agree WWF sucks balls and what not. I'm working on broadening my horizons and picking up what I like along the way and dropping what I don't like. It's all personal choice. But when someone's just getting into the shit why slam on them? All it's going to do is lessen interest in the subject because no one feels like being scolded for asking questions about the subject. If they annoy you, ignore them. If they ask questions you can answer, why not drop some knowledge. I mean, what other purpose is there for this board? It's where I've come to pick up information all the time.
