Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I read on a site today, I believe it was RFvideo, that AJ styles turned down a WWF developmental deal, I know he probably makes a good living doing Indy shows, but what if he gets hurt and that pay is not coming in, at least with the WWF he is getting some money if he is injured. He is running quite a risk.
Guest Robert S Report post Posted April 6, 2002 He was offered 500$ per week and that was too less for him.
Guest Brian Report post Posted April 6, 2002 That's not a fair price for him. Most first year development talent makes in the fifty thousand range, whereas that's like 25.
Guest Shawn Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Good for him. Why would he want to be jobber on Jakked for as long as his contract last? WWF abuses talent. Period.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted April 6, 2002 because he's smart enough to know that the wwf is the place crusiers go to die, because he knows that if he did he would never get on tv because there's so many others on roster,
Guest Shawn Report post Posted April 6, 2002 because he's smart enough to know that the wwf is the place crusiers go to die Yeah. It's like Florida is to old people.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 6, 2002 because he's smart enough to know that the wwf is the place crusiers go to die, Aint that a fucking shame. They're not allowed time on Raw to pointlessly flip around the ring. It almost brings a tear to my eye.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Maybe Vince wanted to give AJ a lame gimmick like Blue Blazer or a stupid stage name made of obscure 70's icons.
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Report post Posted April 6, 2002 C'mon, AS. I realize that you don't find Cruiserweight matches entertaining, but a good majority of this board, and I believe wrestling fans in general, do. Furthermore, I'm sure that there are many fans of Styles who are upset that he will never get his chance in the WWF. So please, if you're not going to add anything to the conversation but another cheap shot at every Cruiserweight that ever lived, then just stay out of the thread. Thank you. Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 $500 a week, when also having to pay for lodging and transportation really does not get you very far.
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 If this were a 40 hour a week job, he would be making $12.50 an hour. Pathetic. Insulting
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Three possible reasons come to mind: 1. $500 a week is one hell of a lowball by Big Time Wrestling standards, it's possibly the lowest new contract offered in a long, long time. I bet that WCW paid him more for the month or so that him & Air Paris were tagging there. Not only could it be financially unhealthy to accept such an offer, but it could be construed as insulting. 2. The WWF has a horrible track record in using smaller wrestlers. They tend to be encouraged to go out & bump themselves into early retirement, and then forgotten afterwards, not to mention getting less TV time and money than the larger wrestlers. Or to put it another way, what can Test do that Tajiri can't, except slam dunk? 3. Maybe he got a better offer elsewhere, either in money, or a promised push, or both. WWA is using him on their next Australian tour, and Jerry Jarrett's promotion is rumored to be interested in several NWA Wildside talents, including Styles. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 6, 2002 C'mon, AS. I realize that you don't find Cruiserweight matches entertaining, Yes, I hate ten flips into an arm drag. So? but a good majority of this board, and I believe wrestling fans in general, do. I'm not stopping you. Furthermore, I'm sure that there are many fans of Styles who are upset that he will never get his chance in the WWF. I'm not the one who told him not to sign. Hell, I'm not the one who told him to bill himself as a "cruiserweight" or to work that style. Why are you telling me this? So please, if you're not going to add anything to the conversation but another cheap shot at every Cruiserweight that ever lived, then just stay out of the thread. Thank you. Okay, I'll post like you Anyone over 125 lbs and 5'10 SUCKS! They can't do the quintuple backflip of eye poking doom! Vince McMahon sucks for wanting to make money! Rey mysterio should be main eventing, not that Austin guy. Hell, Rock can't even do a hurricanranna! What kind of a main eventer is that? I've NEVER seen Kurt Angle do ten flips and culminate with an armdrag. What a waste of money!
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 hmmmm... "Anyone over 125 lbs and 5'10 SUCKS" again, Kurt Angle is 5'8"-5'9"....I wouldn't say that if I were you
Guest TheDames7 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I'm pretty sure Angle is over 6 feet. I sure as hell aint. Dames - Vs. The Ruler
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I'm pretty sure Angle ISN'T. Look at him compared to Austin (who is 6'1"), and look at him versus Jericho (5'10") and Taz (5'7") or Rhyno (also 5'7"). He's around Jericho's height, but only maybe an inch or two taller than Taz/Rhyno and even Spike Dudley. The reason I know this is because I know the heights and weights of ALL the wrestlers in the WWF, to see how I measure up to get in (I'm saving up money to move to Calgary to train in the Dungeon...I'm about 5'6"-5'7", around 200 pounds, former running back in high school..trying to gain some more weight, as I find the only way to get taken seriously as a shorter wrestler is to be heavy.) Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Short and heavy = El Dandy But El Dandy is a wrestling god...you could never be El Dandy
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 didn't know who El Dandy was till right now... well I'm exactly the same size he is...and he won the tag title in Mexico with my favorite wrestler (the one, the only, TRUE undisputed living legend Chris F'n Jericho...known then as Corazon de Leon (Heart of Lion)) so he must be decent..although I'd rather be in Rhyno's shoes than a luchador's.... Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I'm pretty sure Angle is 6'-6-1 because Tazz is 5'8 and Angle's got a good three inches on him...
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 That can't be though because if Angle was 6' or 6'1 he'd be eye-to-eye with Austin, which he definitely isn't, and he's not taller than Jericho, who is a solid 5'10"
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I'm Six,six and have been within a foot of Undertaker and he's about the same if not shorter.

Because he's taller than Benoit, who I think is 5'10 as well... Figures when you want to see them next too eachother THIS is the best you can get.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted April 6, 2002 WWF house show. I'm by the railings on the entrance way (no raised ramp) UT comes out and is close enough to touch. I notice he's the same height as me. All wrestlers exaggerate their height. Andre 6'10, Jericho around 5'8, Does Hogan still bill himself as 6'8.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I don't think Andre was even 6'10. I heard 6'9 because he was eye to eye with Ernie Ladd who is a legit 6'9.
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 well Vince is about roughly 6'1", maybe even pushing 6'2" (I say this compared to him versus HHH or Austin)...so here's a pic of Angle next to Vince --> http://www.wwfsuperstars.com/media/2002/03/26/40859 that's a pretty big height difference..but here's another one that you may want to put into that graphic of yours Anglesault... http://www.wwfsuperstars.com/media/2002/02/07/37642 heheh
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Does anyone know any good sites on AJ Styles? 'Cause i'd love to see what the guy can do. Thanks This has been the Taker Mark.

SIX....FOOT....10....INCHES Which means your not taller than him, damn..guess your gonna have to take that off your resume now. Guest thebear Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I'm with Anglesault on this one... You guys seem to shit on any heavyweight over 300 pounds... Let's face fact... Kane, Albert, Rikishi are 3 of the best 300+ pounders in North America... Wow, they don't do Handspring Elbows, or Vertabreakers, or they don't jump off the top rope to the floor... What even gets me madder, is the fact that you shit over the big show... He's 7" and 500 pounds.... He's the best 7 footer in history... And if vince used him right (Send him out to destroy everyone) He could be megaover... And if the undertaker is 6"6... Albert is 6"2... oh, and Tazz is 2"8...
