Guest DiabloIIFreak1010 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Yeah. The title says it all. There's really nothing going on in the community board, so I'll just list the bands and what they were like, and I'll rate them too. Band # 1 - Clique: Hey, it's a band made entirely of girls...and it's NOT a pop band? Kick ass...a good friend of mine is the drummer, and there was this preppy, popular girl on the gituar. They played some cool songs. They're 8/10, too much pop, not enough punk. Band #2 - Propistion 24: Anyone ever see the Simpson's epesode where everyone's all like..."YES ON 24! YES ON 24!"? That's where the band got it's name....we chanted that like crazy. 9/10. Band #3 - This Side Up: Local ska pand, where two of my really good friends are in it. One is a gituarist, and one is a base player. 10/10, they did great. Band #4 - Dignifty: A metal bandwhere I couldn't understand the words. I sat down for most of it. 7/10, they were alright. I left about here, I had to be home by ten. It was all around good. Has anyone else been to any recent local concerts?
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Last thing I saw was "DJ Crucifix" spinning in the basement of a sushi bar called the Tokyo Rose. Yes, he called himself DJ Crucifix. And it was Easter Weekend. Here's to sardonic college towns!
Guest Renegade Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 sounded good *is pissed cause he cant go to ozzfest*
Guest Ace309 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Awwwwww yeah. I'm the king of local ska bands. I know, it's dorky music that went out of style years ago, but I love it. Check out Dinkus 9 if you ever get a chance to.
Guest redbaron51 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Bah to Punk. Punk is horrible. Metal all the way
Guest Ace309 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I don't really like metal... at least, not what passes for metal here. A lot of our bands are really untalented, and I can't deal with the formula that they use: "Chord progression from 'Crawling' + random screaming = song." I'm sure that if we had some talented bands, it might be a different story. I like ska because it's fun music, you can dance to it and everyone else looks as stupid as you, fights don't break out much and it's generally got funny lyrics. What can I say... I'm not a depressed hardcore kid.
Guest redbaron51 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 You used Linkin Park as an example of Metal. *Stunners n00b since I don't know your name* Ska is catchy, not my favourite.

They can actually play live!

Guest Ace309 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Correction. I didn't use Linkin Park as an example of metal. I used local bands calling themselves metal who steal chord progressions from Linkin Park as an example of "what passes for metal around here." Yeah, ska's catchy and it doesn't require much thought. That's why it's fun. I listen to my share of serious music, too, but sometimes you just wanna go out and bounce around in a carefree manner. Of course, that's just me. You guys could be entirely different. *shrug* So I guess what I'm saying is... let's go grab a beer.
Guest redbaron51 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 I used local bands calling themselves metal who steal chord progressions from Linkin Park as an example of "what passes for metal around here." Thats even worse. I mean stealing from a nu-metal band that plays Drop D and power chords are one thing, but Linkin Park chords? Man you must suck for Metal
Guest Renegade Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Static-X? C'mon Pantera all the way. Thats metal. Static is just industrial-rock Idustrial....rock? Thats fricken metal!!! Oh btw Flesher, check out guyana punch line....that mental ska!!!
Guest redbaron51 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Fine Industrial-Metal. I made a category for them
Guest Posted April 14, 2002 Report Posted April 14, 2002 Pantera? They may be metal, but nobody defines metal better than Nevermore. Now that's some \m/ FUCKIN METAL!!! \m/ Crowe
