The hole

The Hole is a English horror/thriller starring Thora Birch about 4 friends that get locked in an abandonded WWII bomb shelter with "unhappy" results. I personally loved the film when it was released here in Toronto in October. Just last month a special edition DVD of it was released with deleted scenes, commentary etc.

I heard that this movie hasn't even been released in the U.S. in any format. The rights are owned by Dimension and the haven't decided what to do with it yet. Have any of you yanks seen this flick yet?

Here is a pic of the DVD cover:

I'll have to add this to my movies to watch list...

You can tell what Studio owns the rights to this movie just from the DVD box art. Dimension always does those kind of pictures any time a movie has more then one "teenager" in it.

It's unfortunate too. Alot of people will see that box then think "oh great ANOTHER teen horror movie" and then proceed to pass it up. That sucks if this is a good movie.

I'm proof of this. Final Destination had similiar box art and poster art so i dismissed it as just another shitty teen horror movie. Then i finally watched it and found out it was a pretty good little horror/suspense movie.

Actually, that DVD isn't produced by Dimension. It's made by a Canadian company called Seville.

Oh well then maybe the box art is Dimension. Eh it's not like it matters so who cares, but i will make sure to check it out.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for it on the rental racks, if for no other reason because Ginger Snaps was such a good film and it was a Canadian horror production as well.

Anyone here seen Session 9?  That's supposed to be a rather nice horror flick too.

And I think Thora Birch is a tasty little morsel.

That has nothing to do with the film, I just felt like sharing.

Session 9 was excellent. For a movie made with very little money and shot on digital video, it was very well done. Just goes to show you that you don't need a lot of money to make a good movie, just an interesting idea and a cool location (and what's cooler than a huge, abandoned mental institution?).
