Guest Maurizio C... Version 2 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I guess Douglas' still getting paid by AOl. Really don't know. I assume he's technically blackballed form the industry since the wwf want nothing to do with him. My question is how do you think would he fare in the wwf if there weren't problems with him coming back? I may be the only one to think this but I'm pretty convinced HHH has stolen Douglas' gimmick in ecw. If you recall, Douglas was the first badass heel. he was the one cutting acid promos on other wrestlers and shooting his mouth off. in '97 he was physically similar to HHH, too. In ECW his charachter died a little. What could have been a good main event run transformed into a mediocre midcard stint. Still believe Douglas has contributed to the biz in some ways. Guest J*ingus Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I think you mean "in WCW his character died a little", but anyway. Yeah, I've had that thought to, and the parallels are interesting. 1. Both men are reportedly backstage politicians, who use their stroke in order to gain pushes & title reigns. 2. Both appeared to be using more & more steroids throughout their careers. 3. Both once had the ability to put on excellent matches, but then suffered various injuries and lost some of their former talent. 4. Both men made their reputations by being badass acid-tongued heels, and floundered when they tried to turn babyface. 5. Both had cutesy "insider" nicknames, The Franchise and The Game respectively. Interesting thought.

Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I wouldn't have thought he would get a WWF run now, but who knows, Vince is signing up anyone at the moment.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 the simularities are interesting, but i might just be really baked. hhh seems to have stolen shane's gimmick from ecw but hhh is way bigger than douglas could ever hope to be.
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 the simularities are interesting, but i might just be really baked. hhh seems to have stolen shane's gimmick from ecw but hhh is way bigger than douglas could ever hope to be. Well, Triple H is bigger in the sense that he reaches a larger audience because of the fact that the WWF is bigger. However, as far as being over with the fans, I think Douglas is right up there with Trople H.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 6, 2002 His last feud in WCW, with Ric Steiner, was one of the worse things I have ever seen...but I guess Steiner should take most of that blame. I don't know if Shane would be particularly over if he came in now.
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2002 I can't see Douglas ever coming back to the WWF. He despises The Clique (they buried him during his Dean Douglas run) and stuff he said about the WWF after he left didn't make him any friends either. Vince knows how to hold a grudge, that's why you haven't seen Jeff Jarrett in the WWF either.
Guest Maurizio C... Version 2 Report post Posted April 6, 2002 List of wrestlers blackballed from the WWF: Shane Douglas Jim Hellwig aka The Warrior Don Callis Jeff Jarrett Rena Mero (even if the Torch reported the WWF was somewhat interested in her last year)
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted April 6, 2002 They took back Stasiak, Hall, Nash, Hogan and made an offer to Bret Hart. I don't think anyone is blackballed as much as their demands + heat outweigh what Vince thinks their worth is. Jarrett has heat because of the IC situation and Vince thinks he's a midcarder and Jarrett doesn't agree. The Warrior let Vince down time after time, makes stupid money demands and is reportedly quite insane. Callis was meant to be a pain in the arse backstage and didn't he really piss off the Undertaker. Rena Mero, thought she was worth a lot more than Vince did. Douglas has the clique heat plus he looked really bad in the dying days of WCW, Without being the real franchise which he couldn't be in the WWF I really don't see them bringing him in. If the WWF thought they could make money on any of these people then they'd be in.
Guest Shawn Report post Posted April 6, 2002 Shane Douglas is one of my favorite wrestlers, but I doubt he'd do well in the WWF. He was great in ECW because they pretty much let him do what he wanted and the reason he didn't do well in WCW is becuase they didn't give him those freedoms in his character. He couldn't even cuss. I think they'd abuse his telent in the WWF too beucase they've already got enough touch wannabe bad asses. I even think ol' Stone Cold learned a thing or two from him. If they didn't want to bury him the instant he got into the WWF, they should put him in a feud with Jericho. People miss the Jericho face 'I cut funny promos on my opponents' and just look at how that would go with Douglas' style. Great promos and great maches. It would be THE midcard feud... but no. WWF would never do anythign that would make sense. I have been looking for any 'Best of Shane Douglas' tapes though. If any of you could point me to a site... Guest Report post Posted April 7, 2002 oh and HHH is a rip off of the franchise Funny, I remember Shane in WcW trying to use the "I am that damn Good" catch phrase well after HHH been using it for a good year. Now, I like Douglas so lets not all Reply back and bash me now. If Triple H has stole anyone's gimmick it's Flair's. Everything from the way he uses moves, him trying to be the leader of DX like Flair and the Horsemen and Hell, even the way he tapes his fingers. If you ever look close, Triple H tapes his middle Finger and his index finger the same way Flair always did. Oh, and Flair was pretty much the first heel to take on both faces and heels and still be crazy over. Flair could wrestle a mid-card heel and still be booed out of the place.
