eh. I was never a great fan of the cartoon. Skeletor's voice was way too squeaky for me to bear. But the action figures ruled!!!!!! Mossman lives (even if he was just a green Beastman mold).

That cartoon rocked, as did the movie. Frank Langella ruled as Skeletor.

But...you didn't tell us any news. Is it coming out on DVD, are reruns coming back on tv or is it returning as a new cartoon which would suck.

I don't know which movie you guys were watching but the live action He-Man was a horrible movie, maybe you just haven't seen it since you were a kid. It's on the same level of shit as that live action Street Fighter movie. It's one of the worse kid movies assiocated with the 80's along with Garbage Pail Kids(which i was really looking forward to), Mario Brothers and Double Dragon just to name a few.

I think the worse thing about the movie is how they used that damn 80's trend of using the "people from another dimension finding a worm ole that leads to our dimension" plot. I swear at least half of the shitty action movies from the 80's used that damn plot. Oh and everyone except for the guy playing Skeletor were horrible actors so that didn't help.

In the movie Skeletor looked like Death from Bill and Ted 2 mixed with Brain Guy from MST3K. It didn't even matter who played him because the makeup was so god awful.

I don't get how ANYONE could be a fan of Dolph. Now I'm not some movie snob that can't enjoy bad acting, in fact my favorite genre(horror) is infamous for cheesy acting. But there is nothing enjoyable about Dolph horrid acting. Some bad actors are so bad they are entertaining like SHATNER. Dolph is just flat out terrible and is boring as hell. He looks, acts and talks like a damn gorilla...hey you could consider him the HHH of C grade action movies. The only way Dolph would be interesting is if MST3K did one of his movies. Dolph is painfully bad not entertaining bad.

I don't think the film is a groundbreaking masterpiece of cinema or anything, I just see it for what it is, a fun (in a camp sort of way) b-movie. But, really, part of it may be nostalgia (though I was like 14 when I first saw, and that was long after I had stopped being a He-Man superfan), but I can really be a sucker for these kind of films (which is rather weird considering my almost art house leanings at times). Anyway, the film doesn't take itself very seriously, so I don't either, and that way, for me the film is a real hoot. That, and Frank Langella rocked as Skeletor. But to each their own, I guess.

Dolph deserves an Academy Award...hey, if Titanic could win one...

And NEVER insult Dolph like that! YOU BASTARD!!!! He was DA BOMB in Rocky IV!! Wait...was anybody BAD in Rocky IV? NO! Why? Because Dolph is INTENSE~!~

It's all about the Dolph, and how ya play it.

It's all about the pain, and if you can take it...

Oh i know what you're saying Arkham and trust me i have no problem with cheesy b movies that aren't meant to be serious...hell i even like the ones that try to be serious.

Like i said i'm not as much of a movie snob as i sound sometimes. I'm not sure why i don't like He-man even with me knowing the kind of movie it's meant to be. Just something about it makes it flat out shit to me. I guess even fans of cheesy movies don't like some of the cheesy movies they have seen.

Wow being INTENSE can explain alot of different things can't it. Well i guess it's fine if you want to have Dolph as your favorite c grade actor. I don't see how he is entertaining even in a bad acting way, but i guess you do so eh. I have a soft spot for Clint Howard so what do i know...

If only they had had more money to work with so they could ditch they "wormhole-to-earth-thing", Eternia's "subversive-new-age-religion"(;)) themed visuals ruled.

The new series is going to kick off on Cartoon Network this summer with a 90 minute movie showing the origins of He-Man and Skeletor.  For people looking for the vintage He-Man cartoon, I know that Deluxe editions of the new He-Man and Skeletor figures are going to come with a video of a vintage episode.

The toys look pretty kick ass, and I'm already preparing on getting the new line.  What can I say, I'm a victim of nostalgia.

How can you deny the greatness of He-man?  Hating that is like hating apple pie and old Saved By the Bell reruns.

I want all of you people to eat someone's cancer infested spleen and die.

There was NEVER a cartoon called He-Man, nor was there a movie or a series of action figures by that name.

The name of the fucking cartoon, and the rest, was Masters of the Universe!

This is such great news.  Seriously, every time I see this lame modern cartoon stuff that Cartoon Network shows I just say "dammit give me some He Man or GI Joe!"  They did show some Thundercats a while ago but that was never in the same league really (it was ok though).

The thing that I always hated was that there was never a definitive animated Masters of the Universe cartoon movie.  Yeah, we had the lame 1987 movie with DOLPH~!  And yeah, there was the weak ass She-Ra cartoon movie where He Man did a cameo.  But there was never a feature length animated He Man movie.

I think that fact ultimately killed MOTU's popularity.  That, and the crappy newer figures that were out in 1989 or 90.  Does anyone besides me remember those toys?

Is that the one where He-Man and She-Ra teamed up to fight Hordak (was that his name?) and Skeletor almost turned face when he saved a couple of kids from Hordak? Or am I just getting stuff mixed up?

Yes, I do.  I believe that they were the toy line-up for the ill-conceived 2nd He-Man series, "The New Adventures of He-Man", which involved He-Man and Skeletor traveling several millenia into the future, where Eternia (now called Primus) is under attack from evil space mutants.  He-Man joins the good guys, Skeletor joins the mutants.  Wacky hijinks ensue.  I remember the show vaguely (I was still in grade school when it aired), but I remember one thing clearly - it sucked.

The original He-Man series wasn't exactly perfect either, but it was great fun, AND it boasted a few episodes written by Joe Michael Straczynski.  New He-Man sucked monkey balls.

With the Season One DVD set of the original Transformers cartoon coming out next week, hopefully a similar DVD release of the original MOTU series will happen in the future.
