What should happen with benoit...

Recommended Posts

Guest InigoMontoya

Once Chris gets back, what should the WWF do with him? I can't remember what happened to him, I think it was a neck injury though.

What SHOULD they do with him?

What WILL they do with him?

What SHOULD they do with him? - Stick him in the high midcard and have him come back as a face to get Jericho.

What WILL they do with him? - He'll got lose with all the new guys.

What SHOULD they do with him?

- Feud him with Chris Jericho.  Give him a male manager to get him over on the mic.  Arn Anderson would fit the bill.

What WILL they do with him?

- Throw him in the midcard.  He'll probably float around the IC division for a little while, then moving to the upper midcard, feuding with guys like Kurt Angle.

imo they shouldnt fued him with jericho again, its been done to death last year.  when he first returns, perhaps place him in a fued with rvd as this would get both guys more over, and should make for some good matches.  then you could possibly move him into a fued with austin once the nWo is done, because you could say that austin injured benoit's neck (at KotR last year).

however once he does return, he'll probably just get jobbed to test in attempt to get him over #546.

What SHOULD they do with him?

First of all, he's a better heel than a face.  Have him take on Dean Malenko's old "Shooter" persona, the "Silent but Violent" type... and give him a mouthpiece.  But not Arn.  That's too close to the Horsemen, and well, I don't think they should bring them back.  Not now.  But I have two recommendations for his manager, one unsurprising, one a little bit crazier.  The unsurprising one is Paul Heyman.  The surprising one... Tully Blanchard.  The guy's a frickin' PREACHER, but you KNOW he can just bring the hate, and get a guy like Benoit over.

What WILL they do with him?

Job him to Rikishi.  And we'll just keep bitching about the WWF and turn more to better wrestling... indies and Japan, or we'll just stop watching.

I was going to say bring Benoit back as a heel with Paul Heyman as manager. Then I noticed there are a lot of top heels in the WWF. There's Hogan, Hall, Nash, Jericho, Angle, Booker T, etc. I would think they'll bring him in as a face and feud him with Jericho after Jericho loses the title.

when he first returns, he will get a huge face pop like hhh did, as the fnas missed him, yada yada.  as i said before, maybe a face-face fued with van dam, resulting in a benoit heel turn once his return pop dies, possibly with the addition of heyman as manager.  after all, the guy is too "intense" to stay a face for too long i think.

benoit was over just before he was injured, and could easily get over again upon returning.  its just a matter of the creative team finding a way to highlight his strong in-ring skills as opposed to his weak promo skills.  rvd has achieved this, and their is absolutely no reason why benoit cannot do the same.

RVD has more charisma. Benoit was real over cause they pushed his ass forever. He never deserves to be champion.

He never deserves to be champion.

Are you daft?  Of all the guys on the WWF roster to have never officially held a major recognized world title (for my purposes I'm talking WWF and WCW) Chris Benoit and Mr. Perfect deserve it most.  Now, I make no illusions that Mr. Perfect will get it, he actually is too far in his career to be pushed to that level now, maybe he'll get it as a swan song, or if he gets over again at the same speed as RVD.  But as for Benoit, he has plenty of gas left in his tank, and can still get over easily with the fans.  Hell, look at his WCW run, he received negligible pushes, if any (up until his run near the top before he jumped ship), and he still got over.  All Benoit needs is a mouthpiece (which he vicariously had in the Horsemen) , and he'll get over with the fans.  And, within two years or so, he should have finally collected his first major world title.

What SHOULD happen with Benoit: Give him an Undisputed title shot and have him win the belt.

What WILL happen with Benoit: Since Hall, Nash, and Hogan are in the WWF, Nash and Hogan will try holding him and Jericho down in the mid-card until he realizes that he's in the same position he was in WCW along with Jericho and they'll complain to Vince about it backstage having to go through that BS again.

What should they do?

Keep him going as the ass-kicking silent warrior that he is, kicking Big Show, Rikishi, Kane's and other huge guys that he can make look good and get himself over by beating them.  More fueds with talented guys like Booker T and Angle to produce MOTY candidates.

What will they do?

Keep him in the upper mid-card with the occasional main event continuing to tell him to develop his personality and mic skills, where he will be uncomfortable and not get over as a result of the awkwardness.

Has anybody else read the recap of Benoit appearing on Much Music? A caller asked Chris what he thought of the nWo being back. Benoit sad something along the lines of "The nWo was the reason I left WCW. I'm not happy their back." Man, you talk about a shoot. That was it right there. If Hogan, Hall & Nash happen to gain stroke in the WWF, Benoit is on their "hit list".

well yea, that can be a shoot, but then again it would all fit in with wwf angles also, because benoit leaving wcw was highly publisized and the wcw being ruined by the nwo has also been spoken about quite often with the wwf, so it wouldnt suprise me if he was talkd to say this, despite that he actually isnt happy with it

I just hope they wait until after WrestleMania to bring him back. Then again, he might not be ready until the summer, so I just hope they're patient and don't force (or pressure) him to jump the gun.

I know the WWF could of asked him to say that, but he really means it. Benoit said he should be back by May.

I think they should feud Benoit with Hall. They can play up on Benoit's comments (and have him do more later), and he and Hall have worked together before. It would be a good choice as the #3 feud for the nWo, as both Hall and Benoit are in that upper-midcard/lower-mainevent limbo area.

I may be wrong, but isn't Scott Hall the only nWo member to ever job to Chris Benoit? I think it may have happened on a Nitro.

What should they do with him? Give him the World title

What will they do with him? Feed him to bigger, slower, less talented goofs to make the opposition look better while he waits another three years for a decent break.

What should the WWF do with Benoit?

Goldberg him.  Let him destroy the shit out of midcarders for six months or so.  Let main eventers duck him purposely, changing one-on-one matches with Benoit to "wacky partner" tag matches.  Let him kick the teeth out of the Undertaker a few months down the road to start the main event push.  Then give him a few high-profile yet hard-fought wins, and let the man main event.
