Guest Jack Tunney Report post Posted April 7, 2002 How did the following guys in the WWF turn face for the first time? (most of '99 is a blur to me,gee I wonder why....) -The Rock (not counting his semi-face turn in the fall of 1998) -Chris Jericho -Goldust (sometime in '97 right?) And how did Demolition turn heel in the time between WM VI and Summer Slam '90?
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted April 7, 2002 The Rock turned face on Raw the night after Backlash '99. Shane fired him from the Corporation. Then The Rock challenged Shane to a match which ended in a DQ after HHH & Chyna ran in. It set up Rock vs. HHH at the next PPV. Jericho sort of turned face by himself. During his feud with Chyna, the fans were more on his side. I can't remember if he did anything to show he was a face. Goldust - Don't remember. Demos - Don't remember. Guest bob_barron Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Goldust turned face when he yelled at Jerry Lawler and was like: I'm not queer or something
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Goldust turned sometime between Survivor Series 1996 and IYH: It's Time. It happened the night of The Finals of The Karate Fighters Tournament (Kinda puts King of the Ring to shame, eh?) Jericho turned the night after Royal Rumble 2000 because, all of the sudden, he "respected" Chyna. Blaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!! I THINK Demoltion turned heel just so the fans could have a clear-cut face to cheer for in the Demolition/Hart Foundation feud.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Jericho sort of turned face by himself. During his feud with Chyna, the fans were more on his side. I can't remember if he did anything to show he was a face. It took Jericho quite a bit of time to get Chyna out of his career. The constant saves and interference went on about 6 months if I remember right. After Royal Rumble, Big Show became heel and Rock started looking like a legitimate top draw face again (although he'd job AGAIN at WM2K). Jericho started feuding with Kurt Angle and there was some Kurt/Show vs Jericho/Rocky action. I think it was part the short program with Kurt and partly Rocky's rub that stealthily turned Jericho face. Chyna continued to keep crossing paths with Jericho until she turned on him for Eddy Guererro.
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Demolition turned heel when Crush joined them, I think.
Guest Report post Posted April 7, 2002 the goldust turn happened on raw in december 96 during that dumb karate fighters tournament. hunter hearst helmsley had been courting goldust's valet marlena (his then-wife terri runnels). the karate fighters final was between sable (seconded by marc mero) and jerry lawler (seconded by hhh). sable won, so lawler & hhh beat up mero in frustration. goldust ran out to make the save, thus turning de facto babyface. mero & hunter brawled to the back, while lawler grabbed a mic and asked goldust if he was queer. "NO!" said goldust, despite the fact that he had clearly been portrayed that way for over a year. so he was a face. got a pop at KOTR 97 when he kissed crush too. those fickle fans. Guest Report post Posted April 7, 2002 When did the Disasters turn face? How did Tugboat turn heel?
Guest RevEvil Report post Posted April 7, 2002 When did the Disasters turn face? How did Tugboat turn heel? Tugboat turned on the Bushwackers during a 6-man match with Quake & the Nasties in June? of '91. The Disasters turned face after Jimmy Hart gave Money Inc their tag title shot against LOD shortly before WM8.
Guest Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Tugboat turned heel completely randomly during a six-man with The Bushwhackers in mid-91 as I recall and just started teaming with Earthquake as The Disasters. I can only think it had something to do with gravitational attraction. The team then turned face in early-92 equally uninspiringly when manager Jimmy Hart screwed them out of a title-shot against The LOD in favour of Money Inc. I don't think there was much else to either turn but I could be wrong.

Guest Crasper Report post Posted April 8, 2002 Demos turn in 90 was a quite rare thing in those days- a turn without a turn. Bringing in Crush meant they did the whole swapping members (ooh, er) thing, and because they were mainly fighting The Harts and The Rockers, it made no sense for them still to be good guys. They may have also done some skits saying they were better than the LOD. Whatever the weather, it didn't take them long to get boos after beating Andre and Haku at WMXI. Guest MDH257 Report post Posted April 8, 2002 I seen to recall an interview segment where Demolition basically told the fans to go to hell and that they were bad guys again. That's it, there was never an angle. Didn't the fans just start cheering the Rock for no reason at the Sept. '98 PPV which led to his heel turn at Survivor Series. Guest krambigmac Report post Posted April 8, 2002 Rock actually did make a real face turn September of 98. He came out of a dumpster and saved Mankind from a sledgehammer shot on a Raw.
