Guest redbaron51 Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Like if you play NFL Fever or Madden, and have a very close game that comes to the wire, or Hockey missed a penalty shot or basketball and the buzzerbeater. I remember playing NFL Fever last night. I was San Fransisco and I was up against the Packers in the playoffs. Strangly enough this was at Lambeau Field too. The score was 29-22 for the Pack, and there was 13 seconds left on the clock. I'm on there 41 after a strong punt return for 31 yards. I pick a Shotgun TE Out. The play works and I get a 19 yard gain. On the twenty. Call my time out left, none remaining. 4 seconds left. 4 Wide Slants. With the pass to Owens, make the juke around the defender Touchdown. Clock expires. Gotta make my kick. I go for two. Pro form FB Blast. Call an audible on the line, after they had goaline. All my receivers are out, the defence switches. Hut the ball, step back, and run into the middle for the two points, game over. You have any great sport games.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 10, 2002 I have played a lot of these with other people, but my earliest memory was in 6th grade playing Joe Montana Sportstalk Football and leading Dallas to a last minute touchdown to win the game. That was my first time doing something like that in a video game. My most recent memory of something like that was a game of NCAA Football 2K2 that I played against my brother. He was Miami or some team like that and I was UNC. I was trying to let him stay in the game so that he wouldn't refuse to play with me ever again but the game ended up being a nail biter. I won the game on a Fg that capped off a long march down the field with time running out. If you knew how hard FGs can be in that game, you would realize how tense that game was. Guest Report post Posted April 11, 2002 We had a couple good ones just last night. Me and my friends had been playing All Star Baseball 2003 (PS2) since I got it yesterday afternoon, and I was eatin and they booted up a 2 on 2 All-Star Game. One team's got this kid, Jon, thats pretty good at the game so far, since we had been playin it since that evening, and the other good who's fairly good,Mike, and know Everybody's statistics. The other team is my other friend, Jeff, who's pretty good, and his teammate is this kid we always make crap out of, Graham,He's more or less one of our friends, but we usually make fun of him alot, all in good humor. But jeff did Not want to be on his team, and everyone was just rippin him apart during the game, it was actually pretty mean. But anyways.. For like the first 5 innings, the NL (Jon and Mike) are up like 4-0. I mean, Grahams not getting any hits, jeff's pissed off at him.. everyones rippin on graham, etc.. So in like the 5th or 6th, Graham gets up with Barry Bonds.. and jacks one out. Mike who was pitching was just stunned. Next batter up, also graham, Sammy sosa, Jacks one out again! Mike is beyond words. We're all cracking up, because he hadnt gotten a hit up to that point and now he's rockin Mike. So eventually, its 4-5 in the top of the 9th, and Jon and Mike can't score. So they're up 1 going into the last half inning. They get a couple basehits, and eventually score. Tie Game. They can't believe it. Graham steps up with Barry Bonds, in the bottom of the 9th.. I'm watchin on the couch, I go "Mike, you better watch him, he already hit one with Bonds earlier" Crack. Homerun. Game Over. Everyone jumps on Graham. Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted April 11, 2002 One of my most memorable games was when I was playing NCAA Final Four 2002. I was in career mode, and had just started...with the Drexel Dragons. ??? I was able to become good at the game rather quickly, and rolled onto the NCAA tournament on Sophomore level. After advancing through the first round over Xavier, I had to face 5th seeded Boston College. I decided to go to Junior level because I wanted a challenge, and I had a huge one on my hands. B.C completely dominated my poor team, but they stayed in the game. They had stretches where they fell down as much as 18, but somehow they kept on fighting. It was late in the game with like 1 minute and 30 seconds left on the clock, the score was 69-64, and I had the ball. I decided to immediately get a quick basket to go down three. They ended up missing their shot, and I had a rebound. With around 30 seconds left, I cut the deficit down to 69-68. They inbound the ball, but my team was on top of things, and caused a turnover. I took a timeout to think it over because I had the ball, but there was 30 seconds left on the clock, and I did not want them to have the ball again. I wore out the clock, then went to the hoop. I passed it inside, and sunk a two pointer. They did not have time to get another shot off, and I won 70-69. I made it to the Sweet 16, where I proceeded to face Duke, and promptly just simulated to the next season.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I had a good one yesterday as the Rhein Fire facing the Tennessee Titans in Madden 2001 for the PS2. I was down 7 nothing and came back and tied the game in the second quarter. They scored another touchdown and I answered with an interception that led to a short field touchdown and a FG to take a 17-14 lead. My passing game was floundering a lot but I made some fourth down conversions on my way to scoring a touchdown with 1:49 left in the game. The score was 24-14. Just as I was wondering how I was winning the game, the Titans came back and eventually tied the score on the last play of the game. I won the coin toss in overtime and took the kickoff to the house to escape with the 30-24 win. We both finished the game with about 300 yards of offense a peice. My running back finished with about 115 yards, and my passing gmae never took off, but I got the plays when I needed them, especialy on a few 4th down plays in that last touchdown drive. Sports games never grow old.
Guest Report post Posted April 14, 2002 Mine isn't quite as complex or flashy as that but me and my brother were playing NFL Blitz and I did a slow-motion-long-bomb-71 yard-pass-to-win-the-game-of-death while I see the tears welling up in my brothers eyes. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 14, 2002 If you can make people cry, it's that much better. When I play with my younger brother, our games usually come down to the wire so that he thinks he had a chance in hell of beating me.

Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted April 15, 2002 It's not quite as recent as all of the previous mentions, but I was taking the Detroit Lions to the Super Bowl (on the legs of the incomparable Barry Sanders) against my friend's Pittsburgh Steelers in the SNES version of Tecmo Super Bowl. My friend's got a six point lead on me, he's got the ball in the red zone, and he decides to be an ass with the final possession and try to run up the score. He cackles as he throws a little slant off to the top...which Ray F'n Crockett picks up for the interception on the 2 yard line. Both of us scream like a school girl as the clock goes off and I realize I have to run it 98 yards downfield to win the Super Bowl. I begin running forward when I realize that there's a giant mass of Steeler ass-kick waiting for me at the top...so I have to run a curve-around to the BOTTOM of the field. My friend's already pronouncing last rites as I get into a close "grapple" with (I'm guessing) a wide receiver, but button-mashing powers chuck him off and I struggle across the line of scrimmage... ...and then I breakthrough, with the Infamous Zig-Zag trick. You see, the Tecmo AI plans on you just cooking a straight line to the endzone so that it can tag you...but if you zig up a little and then zag down a little, it really throws them off, as they try to tackle you on the zig and you promptly zag. *evil grin* In one of the longest, most hilarious runs ever, Ray Crockett is zigging and zagging between Steeler and my friend, between obscenities is crying out for anything he can to stop the run, from shooting down the Goodyear blimp, to digging up Lee Harvey Oswald so he can snipe Ray frickin' Crockett. 98 yards later, Barry Sanders celebrates his first super bowl victory and my friend has to "take a walk outside." God bless Tecmo Super Bowl.

Guest treble charged Report post Posted April 15, 2002 Triple Play '99 for PS. In my season, I chose to draft the rosters, and my team in the Mets. Heading into the top of the 9th against the Reds (I think), I am up by one run, so I put in my closer, John Wetteland, who, up until this point in the season (about 15 saves) had not even given up a run yet. Anyways, I get the first out, before the Reds get two quick singles. I get the next man out, and the guy after him, I run his count to 2 strikes, before he drives a dagger through my heart (and through Wetteland's perfect ERA) with a huge 3 run homer. I am deflated, but leave Wetteland in there to get the last out (also, I have no one else warming in the bullpen), but before I can get that, the next batter hits ANOTHER home run, giving the Reds a 3 run lead. Unrelented, I leave Wetteland in there for the elusive final out, which he finally records on the next batter. To the bottom half of the inning now, the Reds record two quick outs, before I slap together two singles, as Vladimir Guerrero steps to the plate. Before you can say, "game tying homer", Vlad knocks one out of the park, tying the game up. The next batter flied out, taking us to extra innings. The top of the 10th in uneventful, as the Reds score no runs as we go to the bottom of the 10th. First up is Charles Johnson, and before you can say, "game winning homer", he jacks one out of the yard, for the most dramatic video game of my life.
Guest Report post Posted April 15, 2002 Heck yeah Techmo Bowl was a kick ass game. I think have a copy for genesis somewhere around ... I can't think of a specific memory, lots of great ones in Nba Live '95 , Nhl '94, Triple Play 2000 and Nba2k1 and Nhl 2k2 Also wrestling related classics in smackdown 2 (Season mode p.p.v championship matches)
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 15, 2002 I remember playing NBA Live 95 against one of my friends in eigth grade. I was the Magic and lit his ass up with 3 pointers. Since I had only played the game once or twice, the fact that I beat him on a last second three pointer really was a kick in the ass to him. Oh yeah, I pitched a perfect game in Baseball Simulator 1000 for NES. That was one of my greatest sportsgame accomplishments, but I have done it multiple times. The first time was special though. Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted April 15, 2002 I totally agree about Tecmo Super Bowl. That game was great. I always loved taking some scrub running back to a thousand yard season in it. I have just never been able to really do that in the Madden games. I cannot exactly many memorable games I had in it, except for one. Now, usually, I was great in the game, and I could beat any team. I would never be dominated in the game at all, except for this one game. The game started like any other with my team immediately taking 7-0 lead, and, to improve on my luck, their starting quarterback goes down with an injury. I figure it is going to be a run of the mill game, except I seemed to overlook one thing, and that was that their backup quarterback was literally in the zone. My usually unbeatable and invincible team looked like chumps out there. I was thoroughly dominated in the game, losing 42-14. I was so stunned that I gave the backup quarterback for that team a round of applause for thoroughly kicking my team's ass. It was just such a memorably game because that has never happened to me again in a game where a backup quarterback comes in and domiantes my usually surefire team. Another classic game I enjoyed was those college football games like Bill Walsh College Football and such. I remember having a great series of games with Alabama in one of those games. They were the first team I ever played, and, in the first game, they beat me 31-30 in a game where I missed something like 4 field goals, including one at the end of the game. The second time I faced them I managed to beat them, a little while later, they beat me again, then I beat them in the next game I faced them in, I thoroughly dominated them as I had finally became really good at the game. The rest of the games between them and I in that game were pretty much blowouts, but I always remember the rivalry I had with them. Whenever I face Alabama in the newer colelge football games, I often think about how I used to enjoy the rivalry I had against them before. I sometimes miss things like that in games. It is rare for me to have so much trouble with one particular team in a game anymore.
Guest Jericholic82 Report post Posted April 15, 2002 I remember playing NFL '95 on my sega genesis. I was playing as the Giants against the Steelers in season mode. now i had traded for the most dominant team possible and was blowing away teams left and right, but this one game the steelers kept answering me. finally I was ahead by 5 i think and i kicked off to them with 5 seconds left, the returner promptly takes it home for the win and I am shocked to say the least. also when i first got Madden '97 i got beat by dallas on a last second field goal. im lame as i only have a 64 and genesis so i dont have the neweer games. my newest one is QBC '98 which still is fun. I have mastered it and love running up the score in one game, i returned seven straight punts for TDS. and even pulle dout an onside kick with 30 secs remaining so i could score one more time i have world series 95 for sega genesis and still love to play it. the graphics and stadiums are damn good for 16 bit completely detailed. and the games are fun. i remember pitching a perfect game and striking out like 25 people in i game
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 15, 2002 I had a good one with ASB 2003 (PS2). I'm in a franchise with the Red Sox and I'm playing the Royals at Fenway. I had just rallied in the bottom of the 7th from a 6-2 deficit to cut their lead to 6-5. I bring on Garces to shut down the meat of the Royals lineup. Doesn't go so well as he puts runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Mike Sweeney comes up, having been contained pretty well (1-4, single). I mull over wether or not to intentionally walk the bases loaded or pitch to him, thinking I can get him. I decide to pitch to him. First pitch, CRACK!!, three run shot to the right field bleachers. 9-6 final, I'm totally deflated, cursing myself, even today (played the game on Saturday). Oh well, at least I hit Mussina pretty well.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 16, 2002 I just finnished a slobber knocker of a game as the Saints versus the Broncos in Madden 2001 for the PS2. My opening drive was nearly perfect and resulted in a touchdown. I thought the game would be like that until the final gun sounded. We exchanged punts and I backed them up to the one. I recorded a saftey to take a 9-0 lead. I fumbled the free kick and they scored a touchdown making the score 9-7. I scored on my next drive and reopened my lead making the score 16-7 with 11 seconds left in the half. The Broncocs then took the kickoff 100 yards to end the half with the score 16-14. I was worried because they appeared to be gaining momentum and were about to receive the opening kickoff of the second half. They fumbled the opening kick which led to me scoring again and widening my lead again by another seven points. Saints 23, Broncos 14. I stopped them on their next possesion and was ready to take the punt, but I fumbled it, leading to another Denver touchdown. We entered the fourth quarter with score 23-21. I had the ball and was driving down the field for an insurance touchdown when I got picked off. The interception led to a Denver FG which gave them a one point advantage. All of the momentum was drained away from my team as we took the kickoff. Ricky Williams broke off two twenty yard runs to go help him get to his 171 yard day. I mixed the drive up with a few midrange passes and a lot of Ricky Williams running to score a touchdown with 1:38 left in the game. I went for a two point conversion and failed, leaving the score at 29-24. The Broncos took the ball and tried to ruin my victory with a two minute drill. They moved the ball nicely, but I picked off a pass to Andre Reed which set up a touchdown and extra point with 46 seconds left in the game. I kicked the ball to Denver, and watched Brian Griese complete a long bomb to Byron Chamberlain all the way to the 32 yard line. They hooked up again from there for a touchdown with 5 seconds left. The score was 36-31 as I awaited the onside kick. We recovered the kick and I ran out the clock to hold on in a wild, wild game.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted April 16, 2002 One of the Sega Genesis Maddens (can't remember which one, probably 93), I'm playing against my brother and was down 20 with less than three minutes to go. Got a quick touchdown, recovered the onside kick, got another quick touchdown. Couldn't get the next onside kick, and my brother starts trying to protect the clock. There's still over a minute left and I have all three timeouts. So on third down, he tries a run up the middle...FUMBLE! Recovered, run back for the go-ahead touchdown. He gets the ball back, is at the 45 with one second left, and goes for the Hail Mary. The circle underneath the receiver lights up, but my safety gloms him and the ball pops out. Heart attack inducing.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 26, 2002 I used to have barn burners last year with gus from the dorm. There was one guy who I used to make my personal bitch at Madden 2001 for the PS2. I was undefeated against him and usually blew him out which set the stage perfectly for our last confrontation. He hung in the game with a lot of luck and completed some big passes including one to give him the lead with 7 seconds left. I took the kickoff and was looking to take it to the house until he brought me down at my own 30. Knowing that I couldn't lose to the guy because he was my personal bitch, I went ahead and completed a touchdown to my tight end who was playing receiver and effectively ended our rivalry. There was another guy who I developed a rivalry with playing the NBA 2K and 2K1 games. I'm not too shabby at either game, but I guess he figured he wasn't either. The first time we played, we were playing 2K. He was the Raptors and I was the Knicks. Patrick Ewing went down in the first quarter, which allowed him to go inside for dunk after dunk on me and he ended up blowing me out. We were playing in my best friend's room but, this guy's friends had assembled in there by the time the gme ended. They were having quite the laugh at my expense and he was getting too much joy out of beatng me. HE made the mistake of granting me a rematch. This time I whipped his ass thoroughly. I was blockinghis dunks, dunking all over him and just dominating the game. I shut all of his friends up this time and was beating him handily. In fact, I was beating him so bad that I walked away from the game halfway through the fourth quarter so that he could catch up on his own. He was in there pissed off and my friend was sitting in the corner trying to contain his glee. I wasn't trying to contain mine at all. All I have to say is, be a good sport if you beat me at anything and I may have mercy on you when I kick your ass at it the next time. We developed a rivalry which carried over to the 2K1 series. He never beat me at that game. This guy looked up to me and thought I was the shit, but once we started playing video games against each other, it was like he hated my guts. One time, we were playing 2K1 and the game was down to the wire. My two best friends were roommates and we were playing in their room. He was supposed to be at a function in the lounge (which was next door to their room) but he elected not to go. One of my friends asked if he could get him some food from the function and I said i would greatly appreciate it if he could do the smae for me. He brought back food for my friend, but none for me (this was during the hot moments of the fourth quarter mind you). After that, I beat his ass in the game like a man posessed. Recently he has been acting kinder to me, but that's probably because I moved off campus with one of my friends that stayed in that room and we don't play video games against each other any more. Guest Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I loved the previously mentioned "zig-zag" trick in Tecmo SB. That almost always ensured a touchdown. When you created players, you could just knock up their speed and max. speed and have them return. I also would never worry about ball control, and just turn fumbles off. I know, very cheesy. But my best game happened.. I guess about 2 months. I was playing NCAA College Football 2K2 for Dreamcast (hadn't gotten PS2 yet) and I'm playing my brother in the Rose Bowl. I was UNC that year, and he was FSU, and he obliterated me in the season so I wanted to beat him in the big game. In our Rose Bowl game, he got up big, but was too cocky. He kept picking goaline D to try and sack me, and a couple of bloop passes over the center later, we had a game. I was down by 13 with something like.. a minute 10 left. I somehow completed a 40 bomb, and outran him to the endzone. So I go for the onside kick.. and he recovers. Knowing the flashy bastard that he is, I knew he wouldn't just run it up the middle. I gambled and did a full LB Blitz, and also made my cursor on a CB..to the right, bc he always runs to the side of the field with the most room. He ends up doing an option, which I gambled on, and seeing the blitz, he panicked and pitched the ball to his RB just as my blitzing Corner hit him. Loose ball, my corner crawls on it and runs the 50 yards to the endzone. Game over.

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted April 27, 2002 I admit that I have tried to run up the score on the computer before, but against another person, I wouldn't take an unneccessary risk like that. The closest thing like that which has happened to me is once when I was playing Madden 2001 against my cousin and opted to try to run the ball into the endzone in sudden death instead of going for a FG. I fumbled the ball and he ended up winning the game.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 28, 2002 NBA Live '96 -- Me and my little brother played it all summer long, multiple times a day. I always used to kick his ass, but sometimes he kept it close. When he got frustrated I'd let him pick my team, so one time I got stuck with Toronto (Damon Stoudamire as a rookie and *no one* else. The next best player was like Sharone Wright) while he had the Sonics. He's winning by two with 0.9 seconds left, and I've got to inbound at half-court. I hit a just-before-half-court fadeaway three with Stoudamire, who had been like 1-12 on threes that day. Another time I was Miami and beat his Sonics with a Tim Hardaway half-court shot at the buzzer. Madden '95 -- 49ers down to the Raiders, 13-10, with like 5 seconds left on the 10-yard line. I dropped back with Steve Young. Jerry Rice was covered on the slant, so Young rolls right, and jus before he steps out of bounds, throws to Brent Jones in the corner. A Raider tips it, but it lands right in Jones' hands just beore *he* steps out of bounds. It was better than The Catch. Triple Play 2001 -- It was my first time ever playing the game. My cousin was the Indians, and was beating my Orioles by two going into the bottom of the 9th. My first batter struck out, the next guy got a single, and the next guy flied out. Then I got hit by a pitch, so here comes Brady Anderson up with two on, two out. First pitch homer. Smackdown 2 -- I never marked out harder for myself in a game than when I beat The Undertaker for the WWF title with ... The Godfather. I also won the title with Mark Henry once. Guest The Voices In Your Head Report post Posted April 28, 2002 It's funny, I just started a new season on Madden NFL 2002 on PS2, and I just had 2 of these moments in a day. First, I played as San Diego against Washington. I was having some trouble [i was playing on Normal] and I was trailing 7-3 with about 4 minutes to go. I stop them, get the ball back, and I turnover the ball on downs at about my own 40. My defense plays strong, and I stop them three times in a row, and I get the ball back at my own 10 with under 2 minutes to go and 2 timeouts. I had a 4th and 10 at my own 30, when Flutie ran over 10 yards for the first down. Then I keep driving down the field, and after about three goal line plays, I pass for the winning touchdown with 10 seconds left. Then, I was playing as Miami against Tennessee. I'm down 24-14 going into the fourth quarter when I score, stop them and get the ball back. Time's running out, and on 3rd down from my own 30, I have a hail mary play called, and I just hurl the ball into the air, and my receiver makes a diving catch at the defense's 5 yard line with what had to be under 30 seconds left. It then takes me until 4th and Goal to pass for a touchdown. I go on to win the game with a field goal as overtime expired.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted April 28, 2002 Two quick stories, and both are from quite a few years ago... 1) I beat my friend at Lakers vs. Celtics on his Genesis as the 76ers and he was the Bulls. The demoralizing part came when I beat him by only shooting three-pointers, and my second/third unit were playing the entire time. 2) A trash-talking classmate challenged me to a game of Madden '93 on the same console. His Broncos were no match for my Chargers. He quit midway through the third quarter, and I don't remember much about the game itself, except for the three consecutive goal-line stands I put over on him. That's all for now. God those were the days...
Guest Will Scarlet Report post Posted April 29, 2002 I managed to have a few great games against the Colts in Madden 2002 over the past few days. I hate the Colts in that game because they are just so darn good with Manning, yet I credit them for bringing their "A" game when I play them. The first one was a meaningless regular season game between them and myself. It was meaningless because both them and I had locked up number one seeds already. Anyway, I was the Lions who I had built into a great team. The game starts out great with my defense causing a fumble, and my offense getting a rushing touchdown to go up 7-0. Then, until the start of the third quarter, nothing happens. Finally, my offense drives towards a touchdown, but throw an interception, causing their linebacker to go 92 yards for the touchdown. My offense does nothing on their next possession, their offense gets stopped behind the ten during theirs, and they punt the ball. My stupid punt returner fumbles, and they recover, causing my defense to stop them again on their next drive. Finally, I get the ball at my own 20, and throw an 80 yard bomb to my 5th receiver for a touchdown to go up 14-7. They proceed to score with my defense exhausted. My offense does nothing again, as the game is winding down. I punt it, and then my defense takes over, picking off Manning, allowing my offense to get inside the ten, and kick a last second field goal for a 17-14 victory. My next game with them was the Super Bowl a season later. I simulated the Super Bowl with them the year before, and my team won that one 31-14. Indy was out for revenge here, but went down 10-0 early, thanks to my backup tight end bulldozing through several of their CB's in a play that was pretty funny. They refused to go away though, as I managed to maintain a lead of around 10 points for most of the game. Even getting lucky a few times, like, once, on fourth down, I throw the ball to my tight end, who loses it, but somehow Germane Crowell grabs right before it falls to the ground for the touchdown. Late in the game, it is 31-28. I wear the clock down to a ltitle over 1 minute, and punt the ball. Manning seems ready to take the team to the victory, as he throws it for twenty yards right off the bat. My defense holds, and it is 4th and 4, I am pumped, and so was my defense end who causes gets called for offsides, giving them the first down. Man...I hated that call. They get the ball to the fifty, again my defense holds and it is 4th and 4 again with 19 seconds left. I break the line with my defensive tackle who I picked up in the 5th round of the draft of all places. He sacks Manning who fumbles the ball. There is a mad scramble for the ball, one of Indy's guys gets it, but is tackled immediately. Manning is throwing a fit for fumbling and blowing the Super Bowl, as I am celebrating. I take two knees(because the computer took a timeout because he felt he had a chance to get the ball back or something.) I win the game, and the Super Bowl, in a great game over the Colts. Too bad I left the Lions soon after to rebuild the 49ers, and they proceeded to dismantle the team I built. Now, the Lions suck, the Colts suck since all their good players retired, and the 49ers are doing just fine with all those players the Lions stupidly decided to get rid of, but, hey the Lions now have 50 million in cap room to do nothing with because the 20 million I was able to get them was obviously not enough. Sorry, I was just a little ticked at the massive purging of all the good players on my former team.
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted May 17, 2002 I was playing NCAA 2K2 on Dreamcast and I forgot what barnburners you could have in that game. Most of the time it's because you get phantom penalties called (clipping 20 yards away from the ball, holding on successful 4th down conversions, excessive crowd nise penalties to bail the CPU out), hard ass FGs, shitty spots, missed tackles and all of the other stuff. I was playing as West Virginia against Miami. I was running the ball with some success, but I couldn't pass woth a damn. My QB was overthrowing passes and when he managed to get them to the recievers, they would drop the ball. I managed to find a nice blend of straight ahead runs and trap plays to keep the Hurricanes off-guard. They scored a FG on their opening drive, and managed to chip in another FG, while my drives would end up stalling out. I was shut out for the entire first half and found myself losing 6-0. I wasn't extremly worried because I was runing the ball well and could put together a decent drive if I had enough time. My defense was great for the entire game and really kept me in the game. I headed into the fourth quarter losing by the same margin, and the CPU was threatening to score. They got the ball to my 30 yard line and I forced a fumble on an option play, luckily I was able to recover it with a DB, who took it all the way to the endzone to give me the lead. I had a one point lead with 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter. My defense had held up for the entire half, shutting out the opposition for the better part of three quarters and scoring my team's only points. They cracked as Miami drove down the field for the go ahead TD. They failed on the two point conversion try, so I was about to receive the kickoff with the score 12-7 with under two minutes left in the game. Had i been able to put together a passing game, that situation might not have appeared so grim. I took the kickoff and returned it to my 17 yard-line, looking at a drive that would have to cover 83 yards to win the game. My running back had 120 rushing yards so far, but he was injured right before the start of the fourth quarter, so that was one less weapon I had at my disposal. I had failed to complete a pass the entire game, and I had just over 90 yards of total offense for the entire game. I took the ball and tried to march down the field. I completed my first passof the day, but was stopped shy of the first down. On the next play, I scrambled to my left and ran for the first down, but my QB was injured on the run. My backup QB came into the game and managed to hookup with a TE for a big gain to put me outside of the Miami 30 yard-line. I scrambled again to pick up some yards on the next play, and threw a pair of incompletions. On fourth down, I completed a pass for the first down and placed myself ever closer to the endzone. After that play, my starting QB was available to return to the game. He came in with just over 20 seconds left. I scrambled to the right to evade a heavy pass rush, and threw up a desperation pass to the back of the endzone. My receiver outjumped the DB and came down with the pass at the very back of the endzone, giving me the go ahead touchdown. I went for the two point conversion and failed, leaving the score at 13-12 with 17 seconds left in the game. My defense prevented a last second comeback and I won with a drive that nearly equaled my total offensive output for theentire game.
Guest Report post Posted May 17, 2002 I still remember playing NHL Hockey 98 for the Genesis. I was playing the Kings vs the Islanders in a playoff and it was 2-2 going into the 3rd period and the computer and myself just KILLED each other with checks and blocked shots until finally the ref called a penalty on the CPU at about 20 seconds left and I was able to score and go ahead 3-2 and got one hell of a scare when the CPU was skating down the ice with an open shot as time ran out...but didn't shoot it at all. Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted May 17, 2002 Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES: I'm playing as Miami against SF in the Super Bowl, down by 6, with the ball on my side of the 50 with under 10 seconds left. I call a play w/ all 4 receivers going deep, Marino drops back, waits, waits, waits, heaves a bomb (the ball goes up, off the top of the screen, and back down). When the ball comes down, my receiver jumps up & catches it at the 2 as the defender falls down. Receiver walks into the endzone for the winning TD.
