KOTR is usually known as the worst of the "major" PPV's in the WWF, with such fiascos as The Undertaker vs. Faarooq, and Mabel vs. Savio Vega.  Which of these shows was the best?

I liked all the King Of The Rings from 1993 to 1997 because they weren't part of the attitude era.

93 was great. 94 was alright. 95 sucked. 96 was good. 97 was pretty bad. 98 was good. 99 sucked. 2000 sucked. 2001 was awesome.

KOTR 1998 is my personal favorite. Shamrock and Rock had a good match, Shamrock and Jarrett had a decent one. Then there was the Taker-Mankind HIAC match, and the Outlaws had a very good match with the Midnight Express.

 

On a related note, I was just looking through PWI's year-end reader poll, and KOTR 2001 was voted the second-best PPV of 2001. I'd really beg to differ, but whatever.

- Owen's first big Event! Very Good Match with the Kid!

- Diesel vs Bret was very good!

- nothing, all really sucked!

 

1996:

 

- Austin's 3:16 reign began!

- Good Match: Austin vs Mero

 

1997:

 

- Shawn vs Austin, not more

 

1998:

 

- Undertaker vs Mankind in a "classic"

- good Rock vs Shamrock Match

 

1999:

 

- Hey, Mr Ass won, best PPV ever LOL

 

2000:

 

- Bullshit, totally wrong booking!

 

2001:

 

- Shane vs Kurt, not more...

1998 KOTR is my favourite. Mostly because of the Mankind-UT match, it is probably the one KOTR where people still talk about it.

 

1996 was a pretty monumental one as well since it was the birth of Austin 3:16.

 

Other than these two and the Shane vs Kurt match last year, I haven't really taken that much of an interest in KOTR's.

I still think that the best KOTR is the first one 1993. It had the best oveall tournament with Bret having 3 good matches including the classic with Hennig, a decent IC title defense,Hogans final match before returning this year, and it set up Brets program with Lawler to close the show.

How can you say king of the ring 97 was pretty bad bretHart4Ever the only good match was HBK Vs Austin. Had it not been for that it would have been  the worst WWF PPV in history.

93 was good and the one where angle one was good too. im just not a fan of the KOTR though.
