Guest Downhome Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 As most of you know, a major film company has secured the rights to the Owen Hart story, to release a major film on his life, and ultimatly, his death. It is said to focus mainly on his family life, and then all of the events surrounding that nightmarish day, that we all will never forget. Anyhow... ...has anything been released as to whom will be playing who in the WWF? Such as Vince McMahon, other notable WWF stars, and even Owen himself, do you know who will be playing these parts? Hell, who do you want to be casted in these vital roles?
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Well, imdb.com (THE source for anything even vaguely related to a movie) has no information on the subject, so I'm guessing that filming hasn't started yet.
Guest Downhome Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Well, imdb.com (THE source for anything even vaguely related to a movie) has no information on the subject, so I'm guessing that filming hasn't started yet. Yes, with my being a self-proclaimed student of film, I do know about IMDB, it's one hell of a web site! I do know that filming hasn't started on this film however, and if I'm not mistaken, it will not begin untill late this year, or very early 2003, with the release in 2004. I was just currious if anyone know anything about the casting yet, that's all. But, anyhow... ...who would all of you WANT to be casted for this film?
Guest Maurizio C... Version 2 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Sean Penn as Owen (bulk him up like Smith in Ali) Will Smith as Rock Robert Forster as Vince Glenn Close as Helen Hart Gwynet Paltrow as Diana Hart Vin Diesel as Bret (long hair wig) Clancy Brown as Taker make Oliver Stone direct the movie
Guest TheDames7 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I'd love to see how they recreate his career, as I doubt the WWF will truly cooperate with the film, seeing as how they were partially liable. Dames - Is A 3 time Slammy Award Winner....WOOO!!
Guest TheDames7 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Vin Diesel as Bret (long hair wig) Wow...Vin Diesel is too dark skinned to play Bret, as well as too big and bears ZERO resemblance to the guy. So...you want Vin Diesel to appear as Sean Penn's older brother? That won't look right. Dames - Would Be An Extra
Guest muzanisa Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 There's two films in development (Which doesn't mean they'll ever be made of course) one is being made with the approval of Marth Hart, Owen's widow. the other is being made about Bret and Owen and is produced by Paul Jay who did the A&E biography on Owen and Wrestling With Shadows. No word on casting yet.
Guest TheHulkster Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I always thought Pauly Shore kinda looked like Bret. There is your Bret right there buuuuuuuuddy.
Guest Maurizio C... Version 2 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 off topic as it may be but I've always thought Al Pacino would make a great Ric Flair. They're quite similar...
Guest tazmission86 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I was watching Any Given Sunday last week, and I though to myself, "You know, Al Pacino, if he greyed his hair some and looked really tired, could play a great Vince McMahon.", so I think he should get that role. For Owen, I think Owen Wilson resembles him pretty closeley, with the blond hair and large nose. Wilson's becoming a pretty good actor, so I think he could pull it off, but Sean Penn is a pretty good choice, too. I can't think of anyone to play Bret, though.
Guest FakeRazor Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Somewhat off topic, but don't always trust imDB. I mean, they claimed that Stephanie McMahon was happily married to Howard Finkel with two children. Oh, and the Owen film should be somewhat decent. I'm still waiting for Maxx Payne's (aka Man Mountain Rock) movie.
Guest eiker_ir Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Owen Wilson = Owen Hart Sylvester Stallone = Bret Hart
Guest teke184 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 Christopher Walken = Vince Mcmahon. Just IMAGINE him yelling "Ring the fuckin' bell!"
Guest TheDames7 Posted April 6, 2002 Report Posted April 6, 2002 I agree with Owen Wilson for Owen. Just wanted to say this...in the new raw graphic, where Flair is wearing a dark suit, turns to face the camera and rubs his hands together... Doesn't he look JUST like Pacino in Godfather 3???? Dames - Don Dames Corleone
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 most good actors arent big enough or ripped enough to play wrestlers. Jennifer Connoly should play Stephanie McMahon, although Stephanie McMahon has very little to do with Owen Hart. blah.
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 You won't see any "Big" name actors since it's gonna be a made for TV movie. If they did though, they should get the guy who plays Stifler from American Pie to be Owen.
Guest FakeRazor Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Owen Wilson would make a great Owen Hart. We had a discussion about this a while back over at wOw, and he was the most popular choice for Owen Hart. He does look like him a bit.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 I think Brad Pitt would make a bitching HBK...
Guest Dmann2000 Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Not related to the Owen Hart film, But this looks like a good enough place to continually pimp my choice to play Vince McMahon in ANY wrestling film (be it about the rise of the WWF, Have A Nice Day, etc)......Dennis Quaid and yes even though he's 60 Al Pacino must dye his hair blond and play Ric Flair
Guest JerryDrake Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Who cares its related to wrestling.
Guest art_vandelay Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 There's two films in development (Which doesn't mean they'll ever be made of course) one is being made with the approval of Marth Hart, Owen's widow. the other is being made about Bret and Owen and is produced by Paul Jay who did the A&E biography on Owen and Wrestling With Shadows. No word on casting yet. If you're talking about the Owen documentary, "The Life and Death of Owen Hart" also produced by Paul Jay, then that has been made already. It was aired on A&E a few years ago.
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 owen wilson's nose looks like a dick, did anyone else notice that?
Guest the Goon Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 since we're on topic with real life wrestling stories becoming movies... I think Foleys "have a nice day" would make a better feature film than any Owen film. And you wouldnt exactly have to be too buff to play Mick, either... I'm betting he could play himself.
