Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 Men's Figure Skating GOLD - Alexei Yagudin (Russia) SILVER - Evgeni Plushenko (Russia) BRONZE - Timothy Goebel (USA) Fantastic performance by Yagudin. Four 6.0s and nothing below 5.9.
Guest General Failure Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 Yagudin is Russian, so I suppose it's ok for the commie judges to reward his performance accordingly.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 Actually, Yagudin is not well-liked in Russia. I believe they refer to him as 'that little shit' if my memory is correct. The Russians like Plushenko a lot more.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 Plushenko looked pissed that Yagudin won the gold.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 Plushenko & Yagudin hate each other.
Guest Kingpk Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 Looks like the Canadian pair finally got the gold. But you know what that means: no more press confrences to ogle Jamie Sale .
Guest Vern Gagne Posted February 15, 2002 Report Posted February 15, 2002 What a pointless stupid story this figure skating thing was. It was really sad that all the stations interrupted their programming for a damn press conference.
Guest Kingpk Posted February 16, 2002 Report Posted February 16, 2002 Men's Hockey: Czech Republic def. Germany 8-2 Sweden def. Canada 5-2 United States def. Finland 6-0
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 17, 2002 Report Posted February 17, 2002 Apollo Anton Ono got robbed of a Gold in the short track speed skating. Russia vs USA hockey LIVE in 30 minutes.
Guest treble charged Posted February 17, 2002 Report Posted February 17, 2002 The end to that short track race was awesome! The Australian guy coming from way back was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. He won a silver, anyways, plus Canada won a bronze, so that makes me happy.
Guest Kingpk Posted February 17, 2002 Report Posted February 17, 2002 The US ties Russia 2-2 in a damn fine hockey game.
Guest tim Posted February 17, 2002 Report Posted February 17, 2002 As a proud Aussie, I thought it was great to see Steve Bradbury get up for the win. Remember the old addage: Slow and steady wins the race!!
Guest The Vanilla Midget Posted February 17, 2002 Report Posted February 17, 2002 it was awesome!!!! i totally marked out for stephen bradbury winning australia's first ever gold medal!!!! he won it fair and square, and kudos to him on an awesome way to finish his career.

Guest starvenger Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Switching to hockey: Canada 3, Czech Republic 3. Great game. That means: Sweden (1st Group C) vs. Belarus (4th Group D) Czech Republic (2C) vs. Russia (3D) Canada (3C) vs. Finland (2D) Germany (4C) vs. United States (1D) Thoughts
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Ice Dance GOLD - Marina Anissina & Gwendal Peizerat (France) SILVER - Irina Lobacheva & Ilia Averbuhk (Russia) BRONZE - Barbara Fusar Poli & Maurizio Margaglio (Italy) Of course the event isn't over for another 3 hours or so, but we all know that Ice Dance is predetermined.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 Well, I was right. Despite a bad fall by the Italians, the results stayed the same. No surprise here. At least this is the last Olympics for Ice Dance.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted February 19, 2002 Report Posted February 19, 2002 The U.S. continues to impress in Men's hockey. They look like there playing with a purpose this time.
Guest Kingpk Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Looks like Russia and Korea are in a huff about the officiating in this year's olympics. So much that they are hinting at pulling out of Salt Lake and Athens in 2004. I guess the US will have a better chance at men's hockey gold now.
Guest CanadianChris Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 Doubtful. The Russian hockey players, pretty much to a man, hate the Russian hockey federation, and probably wouldn't pull out even if they were told to.
Guest Kingpk Posted February 22, 2002 Report Posted February 22, 2002 An actual quote from a Russian official: "Without Russia, the Olympic games are nothing." Wow...and people say Americans are arrogant. Now it seems they're protesting the women's figure skating finals too.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 24, 2002 Report Posted February 24, 2002 Hmm. SNL Rerun from 1994 when SNL was making fun of CBS' coverage of the 1994 Winter Olympics from Lilehammer Norway. Funny...
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted February 25, 2002 Report Posted February 25, 2002 FINAL RESULTS: 1. Germany (12 G 16 S 7 B) 2. USA (10 G 13 S 11 B) 3. Norway (11 G 7 S 6 B) 4. Canada (6 G 3 S 8 B) 5.
