Guest goodhelmet Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Most of this music was around before any of us were born but i was doing a project on war-era music and came across some inteesting songs abut Vietnam. These include: Hedgehopper's Anonymous -It's Good News Week The Fugs -Kill For Peace The Spokesmen -Dawn of Correction Tom Paxton -Lyndon Johnson Told the Nation If you can think of any other obscure Vietnam music, feel free to post. This might help some of you history buffs out there who choose to examine music from this era.
Guest El Satanico Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 It isn't obscure by any means but i always liked Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young "Ohio". It's not actually about the war it's about the protesters at Kent State but it's still considered Vietnam music.
Guest Posted April 7, 2002 Report Posted April 7, 2002 Turn! Turn! Turn! - Byrds War - (band's name slips my mind) Student Demonstration Time - who'd ever thunk the Beach Boys would sing something political?
Guest goodhelmet Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 "Turn! Turn! Turn! - Byrds War - (band's name slips my mind) Student Demonstration Time - who'd ever thunk the Beach Boys would sing something political" War was sung by edwin starr. And thanks for the beach Boys song. I had no idea.
Guest Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 I don't know if "One" by Metallica was considered Vietnam era but that's my pick.
Guest Kinetic Posted April 10, 2002 Report Posted April 10, 2002 I don't know if "One" by Metallica was considered Vietnam era but that's my pick. The book that that song was based on, "Johnny Got His Gun," was about a guy who served in World War I, I believe. So, no, it doesn't count.
