Guest Steve J. Rogers Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Couple of chants on Smackdown! I found intresting. First when Jericho was being serenaded, can someone tell Michael Cole that ASS-HOLE sounds MUCH different than HAS-BEEN but then Cole is in the JR category of trying to create the most inane nicknames/monikors to get over. (yeah I know Jericho is trying his hardest to get the fans to chant HAS-BEEN, but don't say they are chanting something that they obviously not) Second, was it me or when the crowd was chanting HO-GAN, HO-GAN was there a smattering of loud BULL-SHIT, BULL-SHIT chants? If so I guess the Hogan face run is allready running out of steam with the marks, or maybe the Rochester crowd was half full of smarks Steve
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 7, 2002 I didn't hear any bullshit chants.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted April 7, 2002 I knew I heard so anit Hogan chants. And Cole isn't aloud to say Asshole, so the only thing he thought of was he could say they where has been chants.
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Well when Rock was cutting his promo about who was more deserving for a WWF title shot I heard the crowd chanting for Jericho, there's still hope for Y2J.
Guest Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Not that I like Hogan, but I think you guys are hearing what you want to hear.
Guest Austin3164life Report post Posted April 7, 2002 I live here in Rochester, NY, and although I wasn't at the event, a lot of my friends who are long time fans have said that Hogan shouldn't be wrestling. The only people I know who liked Hogan coming to Smackdown was this guy who is 33 years old. Rochester is actually a smarkish type crowd, but it's not that much different from a regular arena like the Gund Arena or Joe Louis Arena. Here we cheer Austin more than Rock, RVD more than Triple H, and so on....

You did?! Killer! I didn't watch all of Smackdown, but I wish I had heard that! I heard a little Triple H chant when he was in the wrong, but when Hogan came out it was all Hogan chants. Guest Booker D Report post Posted April 7, 2002 I live in Rochester. I was at the event. Half the crowd was chanting Asshole, the other half picked up on the has-been chants. As for Hogan, most people were cheering for him. No bullshit chants. The place was enjoying itself with the whole Hogan 80's shtick, but during the break he did the whole ear/pose thing and by the end of the segment, the crowd had lost some steam. Makes me think this Hogan run doesent have much left, if the crowd got sick of the act after 10 minutes. Not sure if this made it to TV, but during the Holly/Maven fight a fight broke out and people got ejected, and about 75% of the crowd was chantng "nah nah nah...goodbye." good stuff. That was awesome. We got a picture of the crowd all looking up that way because it looked cool. I managed to see a few of the punches thrown. 'Twas cool. Anyway, as you may have figured out already, yo vivo en Rochester tambien. It seemed to me like the crowd was pretty pro-Hogan. Tons of Hogan signs, and yellow and red Hulkamaniacs. From where I was sitting I didn't hear any bullshit chants. Hogan didn't seem to like the side I was partly on (the corner to the right of announce table if you faced the ring- 2nd row. Woo! ) when he did the ear thing. We were pretty much into all the matches though- D-Von got a chant in his dark match.
Guest RepoMan Report post Posted April 8, 2002 What up fellow Rochester smarks? I'm away at college so I couldn't go, but what I was woundering about was the "you suck" chant directed at Albert after turning on Scotty. I doubt anyone would actually care enought to start a chant. You'd have to be a HUGE mark, and I don't personally know any marks among the wrestling fans I know back home.

The place was enjoying itself with the whole Hogan 80's shtick, but during the break he did the whole ear/pose thing and by the end of the segment, the crowd had lost some steam. That could be because that interview was way too long and Triple H cuts the worst promos ever. Did you see the end where he was huffing and puffing at Hogan? The fuck is wrong with that guy? Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 8, 2002 That could be because that interview was way too long and Triple H cuts the worst promos ever. Did you see the end where he was huffing and puffing at Hogan? The fuck is wrong with that guy? Yes on the way too long, but the reason the promo sucked was two different styles were clashing. HHH was running on the "I'm Cool Because I'm A Badass" style that Attitude-era promos are filled with, and Hogan was straight out of 1988 with his Oscar Meyer getup. Promos from the era of Sgt Slaughter and the Macho Man don't work well against a person with a character from the Austin/Rocky generation.
