Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted April 7, 2002 So anyway, in a fourway lastnight somewhere in Austrailia, they put the belt on the one guy the WWF isnt about to pick up Nathan Jones Scott was right in the Revolution Rant, the WWF did fuck with their heads by bringing EDDY in as they made no reference to a cruiserweight strap
Guest KOR420 Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Nathan Jones?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! oh sorry who had the belt,Jarrett? he must've been pissed that he had to do the job at least he didn't have to job it to chyna lol
Guest the 1inch punch Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Yup, apparantly DoubleJ half assed it
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 7, 2002 Nathan Jones was the really big guy, right? Did he still have the Aussie DJ with him as manager or was that a one-time deal for the first PPV? Also, where's a good place for WWA results and such? They still need a lot of work, but I really want to like the WWA, and they're making a smart business choice by mainly doing Australian and European house shows still, since the WWF's not over there (at least not right now). I never liked Jarret anyway... but at least I liked him better than Road Dogg, heh.
Guest Jay Report post Posted April 8, 2002 If I hear one person bitch about the WWF stealing guys... THE WWA SHOULD HAVE SIGNED PEOPLE TO CONTRACTS! What the fuck did they expect? Vince to play nice? That hasn't happened before, and it damn sure won't happen know that Vince rules the U.S. wrestliing scene. This fed needs a miracle to regain the momentum it lost with it's February PPV blunder. I hope they succeed, but I have my doubts.
Guest DARRYLXWF Report post Posted April 8, 2002 I was at the show, and Jones was easily the most over wrestler there, in terms of face heat.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted April 8, 2002 How much ya wanna bet it's gonna be one of those phantom title reigns, and that Jarrett will win it back before they leave the country?
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 8, 2002 I'd of thought he will. Putting the belt on a no-hoper like Jones isn't exactly going to help WWA compete. Not that the title means much in the first place.
Guest tpww7 Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Hopefully Jones drops the title, otherwise I guess we can look forward to Jones vs Stiener at Erruption.
Guest RickyB Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Hopefully Jones drops the title, otherwise I guess we can look forward to Jones vs Stiener at Erruption. Supposedly that match has already been made.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 10, 2002 Jarrett is gone from the WWA isn't he. He just needed to drop their title before starting up his own promtion with his dad.
Guest swan Report post Posted April 10, 2002 Jarrett is gone from the WWA isn't he. He just needed to drop their title before starting up his own promtion with his dad. That's what I was assuming, but I also heard WWA and the Jarret NWA have some sort of working agreement.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted April 10, 2002 In a best case scenario, Jones will retain the strap at the next PPV over Steiner. Having Steiner (who is working injured and hasn't been up to par with his early Steiner Bros. work in years) put Jones over, whether he goes to the WWF or not, will give credibilty to a "new star" and could build a feud, which is just one of a few steps that need to be taken if the WWA ever wants to compete head to head. But since this is a cast of mostly WCW rejects, I say that Steiner wins the title, winds up with a WWF contract within 2 weeks, forfeits the strap, and we bid the WWA farewell. Either that, or Disco Inferno lays claim to the belt.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 10, 2002 They should just stick the title on Sabu. You know he isn't jumping ship anytime soon.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted April 10, 2002 I for one would find a Sabu vs. Scott Steiner match highly entertaining, though maybe not for the usual reasons.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I wouldn't mind seeing Scott Steiner suplexing the hell out of Sabu.
Guest Vyce Report post Posted April 13, 2002 But since this is a cast of mostly WCW rejects, I say that Steiner wins the title, winds up with a WWF contract within 2 weeks, forfeits the strap, and we bid the WWA farewell. Steiner will probably win the title, but really, if I was the WWA management, that'd be the last thing that I'd do. Unless they sign him to some sort of contract (ha ha), you just KNOW that the WWF would sign him away within days of putting the strap on him. Anyone with any common sense knows that Vince is doing all of this shit to mess with their heads. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining that Eddy is back in the WWF, but there really was no reason to bring him back other than to embarass the WWA. I say, put Jones over Steiner. Who cares if it gives him "the rub", it's the safe thing to do. I'm torn over all this. Despite not exactly putting out the best product (although that can be said of the WWF these days), I want WWA to succeed, just because it's NOT the WWF. I don't care if it's WCW-lite, it's something else. Either that, or Disco Inferno lays claim to the belt. Any wrestling fed with Disco as champ gets my patronage. But only if he brings back the Disqo Duck!

Guest Report post Posted April 14, 2002 I wouldn't mind watching "something else" if they used the ex TV talent to put guys over, which aint gonna happen. Devon Storm,AJ Styles. Jerry Lynn and a lot of the guys on the rosters could carry a low level company if the ex WCW + WWF made them look good.

Guest barnacles Report post Posted April 16, 2002 "I was at the show, and Jones was easily the most over wrestler there, in terms of face heat." When I was at the WWA show in Ireland, Jones was over too......because they announced he was form Dublin! From what I've read they did the same thing in Belfast, only changing the place of birth. The second he got in the ring though he stunk up the place, no wonder the WWF dropped him! Disco and Brian Christopher were the most over guys at the show, and I'm guessing that he'll be back with Scott Taylor shortly now that the Zoo-Patrol is sadly gone. I really do hope the WWA do well, just as an alternative, they do seem to be making some strange decisions though, Sid as commissioner, Jones as champ, expensive sets etc. Although as long as they stick to doing shows in Europe they should make enough money to survive, short-term anyway! Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 16, 2002 I don't like Jones so getting the title off him was a great idea. With the belt on Steiner they have a proven world champion, and someone who probably won't get a WWF offer anyway. It was a good idea IMO.
