Vern Gagne Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 Can someone explain why Roger Clemens, David Robinson, Annika Sorenstram, and Jim Boheim are even on the list. I didn't think this was a life time achievment award, and Sorenstram finished in the bottom 10 of a man's tournament, big deal. Why Boheim over Carmelo Anthony?
Slayer Posted November 9, 2003 Report Posted November 9, 2003 So long as they don't pull another "'99 US Women's Soccer Team" incident, I'm down with whoever they pick, for the most part
CanadianChris Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 It's Sportsman of the Year, not athlete of the year. Subtle but important difference.
Gert T Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 Annika is on the list because it was a "groud breaking" event.
Guest Redhawk Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 If ESPN did a "Sportsman of the Year," I'm sure LeBron James would win it. They are determined to make that guy the next big thing. It's like Brock Lesnar all over again, but 5x more aggressive.
Guest Choken One Posted November 10, 2003 Report Posted November 10, 2003 "This award is being giving to a man that showed incredible poise and dedication, so live via satelite at Colorado State Minimum Security Prison, The one and Only Kobe Bryant"
