Cubs don't need to overspend on starters. They have 4 qualities ones already.

I still see Maddux signing with Arizona. He slides behind Johnson, and allows Webb to stay the 3rd starter, and get another years experience.

What four?

If you mean Cruz, he needs a veteran to teach him cause his walk ratio is too high and he gets him in trouble.

And throwing another AAA kid to the wolves and hoping you can catch Prior-Wood lighting in a bottle isn't going to help.

Maddux helps them cause he can mentor Cruz and Wood (who gets frustrated too easy) and can only improve the staff.

However, if he still demands a big deal then he needs to walk cause Chi-town doesn't need to spend the cash that much on him.

How many games do you think the Tigers will lose? I bet 110, they'll improve a bit due to their low rent free agent signings but they'll still lose at least 110.

85 or less

It was actually Jack Murphy Feild at Qualcomm Stadium, but yes, I see your point.

How anyone can be proud of a stadium named after a frickin' Pet Store chain is beyond me. I don't imagine anyone is.

Who the hell cares what the name of the Stadium is. Just appreciate the fact Padre fans have a new stadium.

K.

Possibly because Yankee Stadium is what it is and I could go back to it, but even if someone built the Yankees the Rolls of Stadiums and named it "Petco" or "Minute Maid" I'd MUCH rather go back to the old place.

"I'm gonna go see a game a 'The Pet'"

Fuck that.

I have actually heard that local San Diego media is going to nickname Petco Park the "Litter box."

I want anyone who lives in the area to personally smack anyone who uses that term.

Well, if the Padres suck then "the Litter box" might be a good term.

And wasn't Petco about bankrupt?

So if the Yankees decided to use a corporate name for a new stadium? You wouldn't go?

I'd throw one of my little hissie fits, I'd promptly join whatever movement was organizing to prevent such a travesty, and I'd never, EVER use that name. I'd probably go a little while without entering Depends Stadium as well.

Not to the extent I'm making it out to be. It does leave alot to be desired for baseball especially. One good thing their putting that fake grass in next year. So at least it won't be like playing on cement.

95-100. They'll also improve as their young players improve.

You have no idea what it's like watching games in the Metrodome.

I've heard it's like watching a game in a 60,000 seat greenhouse. I fucking hate going into greenhouses, so most likely I'd hate the Metrodome. And the fact that it's mosty empty and cavernous during the regular season doesn't help.

Wrigley was really the originial company named ballpark. I'm not sure where the name Fenway came from.

Wrigley Field was named in honor of Chicagoan chewing-gum magnate William Wrigley, Jr., original owner of the Chicago Cubs until (I believe) the early 80s, when the Chicago Tribune bought the team and park from the Wrigley family. It's more commemorative than corporate, I'd say, because it wasn't like the deals where they were paying the team to advertise the brand or anything.

I think Fenway was the neighborhood in Boston where the park was built.

When a stadium name is changed almost no one calls it by the new name. Like of course when Candlestick changed to 3Com in the mid-90s and is now back again to being Candlestick. How many people outside the Bay Area even know that the Oakland Coliseum is currently called the Network Associates Coliseum? All A's fans still call it the Oakland Coliseum.

Seattle is reportably close to signing Rich Aurilia. Aurilia is 32, and has a .331 career OBP. Guillen is 28, and has a .335 career OBP. This is improvement?

From what I've seen they're going to trade Guillen to Colorado or Detroit for prospects. They need to shave off some cash since they couldn't rid themselves of Cirillo

Clever idea: Keep Guillen and don't sign Aurilia. Savings: $1.5 million

Well the original idea was to have Aurillia play SS and Guillen play 3rd, but since Cirillo is invoking his no-trade clause even after saying he wanted out of Seattle they can't do that.

Also don't forget Guillen has gotten a few DUIs the past couple years so maybe Seattle wants to rid themselves of that.

Either way I'm not an M's fan so it doesn't mean anything to me.
