Guest Steve J. Rogers Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Probably the worst and the most funniest is The Giant no-sell of the Disciple's Apocolypse. Beefcake grabbed Giant's neck and just dangled as The Giant wouldn't budge. It sort of looked like two guys fighting and one guy tries for the Stunner but the other one has no clue what the other is doing and just lets the guy sit down while he stands there. So I had to laugh when I saw Big Show sell it perfectly when Austin did it just a few months later

Guest Some Guy Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Vince at Raw in Sept. 97, and many other times he fucked up the selling of it (as a matter of fact he has now screwed up Austin's, HHH's, Taker's, and Booker's finishers). I hate Rock's goofy Stunner oversell, as I wrote in the other thread.
Guest godthedog Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 i think it's a tie between everyone who took a stunner at the 99 rumble. they all just shot straight up so that austin could clothesline them out of the ring. retarded.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 The problem with the Stunner is that everyone would oversell it like crazy. The Rock still practically does cartwheels. Assuming the match is more than your 3 minute WWF match, half of it is spent with Rocky trying to get on his feet (he didn't have any problem getting on his feet in the Hogan match, though. Probably to keep it from slowing into Typical Hogan Speed.) My favorite Stunner selling as of late was Hall bouncing around the ring like a rubber ball, but I'm just glad it doesn't always signal the end of the match like it used to. ....Then again, I've never really liked Austin the character. I respect the guy, but I was a Rocky fan back when he was a heel and jobbing like crazy. Also, when Austin returned, his gimmick consisted entirely of getting into fine midcard matches and stunning everyone involved, which is not only heelish but makes the midcard feel like pure filler. EDIT My addition for Worst Selling Ever goes to Hogan taking the Rock Bottom at Raw. While I was one of the people on here marking out about how Hogan was "Pearl Harbored," Hogan didn't even bother to drop the mic out of his hand.
Guest chirs3 Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 I loved Hall's selling of it, bouncing off a few feet into the air and falling straight back. I think The Rock's is a little overdone, but it's still fun to watch. I hate those who take the stunner by just slouching over and falling. Some degree of recoil is needed.
Guest Human Fly Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Vince. You would think with as many times that he's taken the move it would be like second nature to him. Oh well.
Guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 As much as I hate to say this, I'm not quite fond of Benoit's version of stunner selling. He just kind of bends his knees, then falls. If there is a flaw in his technique, that's it. Some people may like it that way, but I just think it looks a bit lame. I actually enjoy Rock's oversell. It can get annoying, but we haven't been seeing it a lot lately, so it's fine with me. Better than not selling at all.
Guest Some Guy Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 How did he fuck Booker's up? The Raw after KOTR 2001 at MSG (were you there Anglesault) Booker ran in and went to give Vince the Ax Kick and Vince didn't bend over far enough and he turned so he was facing Booker, so booker had to jump higher and turn in mid-air reducing the impact (making it look more like a weak Rocker Dropper) and then Vince didn't bump for the move right.
Guest Anglesault Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 The Raw after KOTR 2001 at MSG (were you there Anglesault) Huh?
Guest The Man They Call Texas Blu Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 One time Vince droped to early for the scissor kick. Vince went down first then Booker followed, it kinda looked like leg drop rather than a scissor kick.
Guest Some Guy Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 The Raw after KOTR 2001 at MSG (were you there Anglesault) Huh? You've said you live in NY a few times, if I'm not mistaken.
Guest The Man They Call Texas Blu Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 I like the Rock's. Its hilarious to watch. Hall's comes in close second, followed by Vince's.
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Shane's selling of the Stunner w/ the beer spit at Unforgiven 2000 was pretty cheesy, yet funny.
Guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 I enjoyed Sgt. Slaughter flip over when Austin stunned him when he was the Commissionser.
Guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Dammit people, Angle's sell of the Stunner is GOLD. That hazy fall-backwards sell is great. Rock's is pretty silly, but makes sense when you consider that's what makes Rock great, selling a fart like it came out of a cannon. See Rhyno's gore of Rock for evidence of this. Benoit's is actually the one that makes the most sense. Why would the person drop to their knees? After all, Austin is pulling their upper body down to impact their head/neck with his shoulder. A person in real life(assuming you had enough strength to pull them down) would probably take it similarly.
Guest caboose Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Scott hall, for standing up straight to be stunnered again by Austin @ WMania
Guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 I saw D'Lo Brown take a stunner on Raw once, he oversold it big time and bounced about 5 feet straight in the air from the impact. It was hilarious.
Guest TheDames7 Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 I LOVE Hall's selling of it, for the record. I would have to agree....I don't like Beniot's sell. Angle's sell initially used to be just like Beniot's before he started to do the whole "falling tree" thing. Dames - No Sells It
Guest Some Guy Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Owen started teh Benoti style sell, I think and I don't really like it. Someone, either in this thread or teh other Stunner thread said Austin takes it poorly, which is true but I think it's beacause of his bad knees. Hogan will enevitably take the Stunner and will probably steal the throne of teh worst sell ever.
Guest TheDames7 Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Oh, i forgot to mention, I was at the MSG Raw where Booker T scissor kicked McMahon. Dames - Bronx Resident...
Guest Some Guy Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 Oh, i forgot to mention, I was at the MSG Raw where Booker T scissor kicked McMahon. Dames - Bronx Resident... On TV Booker's pop sounded pretty loud, was it louder in person, like loud enough to have warranted a face push at the time? Some Guy- Still hates Rock's Stunner oversell (I'll only steal your gimmick once Dames)
Guest Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 The worst selling of the stunner comes from kevin Nash, who if I remember correctly hardly even bent over. Rock sells it pretty good. Wrestling is all show and when rock is bouncing around like a fish after getting stunnered, that is entertainment .
Guest KOR420 Posted April 8, 2002 Report Posted April 8, 2002 As I recall on Monday,Flair didn't sell it to well either

Some Guy- Still hates Rock's Stunner oversell (I'll only steal your gimmick once Dames) Well, in all honesty, the pop wasn't that big to me, because they all turned to groans once they realized the show was over and that was the extent of the InVasion for that night. The next night on Smackdown when Booker T whalloped Austin with the Big Gold Belt, that definitely was loud and warranted a face push. Biggest pop I've ever witnessed live, Hogan WM 18. Dames - Deserves A Push. Period.
