Re-building the tag teams

The topic tonight on sports radio in Toronto is creating new tag teams. One suggested tag team was Mr. Perfect and Stasiak. With Stasiak being the bumbling idiot not doing anything perfect teaming with Perfect who isn't perfect at this time. They build each other up until they become perfect or something and get a title shot. I know how would they get a title shot? Anyways, with guys we haven't seen showing up for weeks what wrestlers would you guys use to re-create the tag division. It seems the wwf is probably planning this since they have broken up all the stale tag teams except the Hardys. Maybe keeping them for name value. Dreamer and Raven was a suggestion as well by a caller which would be a hardcore tag team.

I would put Storm with Rhyno when he gets back.  A Hart Foundation style team, Rhyno has good charisma, like Neidhart (but is a much better worker) and Storm is very good in the ring like Bret.  This would give Rhyno time to get in shape after he returns form the injury, Storm's lack of charisma will be masked by being in the team.  I would bet money that if they got a moderate push they would get way over as heels.  I just want to clarify that I don't mean they should get pink and black tights and Rhyno should grow a long goatee and start laughing a lot.

 

I would pair Hall & X Pac (I don't see them drawing as singles anymore)

Awesome and Justin Credible (they have nothing to do, were either of them even drafted?)

Edge & Christian = they reaked in awesomeness

 

Stevie Richards & Test = Metal tag champs

 

Spike & Buh Buh = they are family

DDP & Kanyon = WCW

 

Lance Storm & Jericho = bring back the Thrillseekers

Well, someone brought up Benoit/Jericho, but the insiders felt that both are better off in singles. Especially with Benoit being picked #3 over all in the draft. He has to get a big push. Also, there might be a plan they said to have Dawn Marie with Storm. Storm/Hurricane was also suggested. Bradshaw/Buh Buh and Farooq/Devon for tag teams were also suggested which has some long term storyline potential according to them. On a side note. Kamala stated that his match with Undertaker at SummerSlam '92 he made $13,000. Guess how much Taker took in? Half a million dollars for that match. He said when he faced Hogan on ppv in 1995 in wcw (Bash at the Beach he thinks) he made only $800. He said sometimes he would almost starve doing this and that's why he got out. He just wasn't making that much money for what he was drawing in. He supposedly drew big cards in his career and wasn't compensated for them.

hmmm what does Kamala being underpayed have to do with tag teams?

 

So if the tag team division is to be rebuilt, who will be the lucky team to beat Billy & Chuck?  I would like to see a team lead by Paul E to defeat B & C, maybe a team of Brock & Awesome.

I didn't know where to put the Kamala news bit. I didn't think putting a whole new post up for it was necessary. I just found it amazing UT got half a million for one match. I guess it is the second biggest show of the year.

Perfect + Shawn Stasiak- They are teaming up at house shows so this seems to be a lock.

 

Crash Holly + Spike Dudley- They would make a good underdog tag team.

 

Raven + Stevie Richards + Justin Credible + Goldust+ Tommy Dreamer- Reform the flock with these guys. Any combination could team together.

 

Booker T + Dlo Brown- I think these 2 would be hilarious together in skits and would be a strong tag team if they wanted them to be.

 

Smackdown:

 

Shane Helms + Shannon Moore- They worked well together in WCW and would again in WWF when they aren't wrestling in cruiserweight matches.

 

Al Snow + Maven- They could be good together in a tag team.

 

Billy Kidman + Rey Mysterio Jr.- They worked well together in WCW and they could do it again here when they aren't wrestling in cruiserweight matches.

 

Farooq + Hardcore Holly- 2 badasses just like APA were.

 

Lance Storm + DDP- Team these 2 up and bring in Dawn Marie as their manager.

 

Mark Henry + Val Venis- I think this could be an interesting tag team.

 

Test + Albert- I don't like either of these guys, but if they got to be on television put them back together in a tag team.

 

Scotty 2 Hotty and Funaki- Could be a funny comedy tag team.

 

 

These are all tag teams that could be formed off the basic roster as it stands now. They only 2 people I included who aren't on the drafted roster are Rey Mysterio Jr. and Shannon Moore, which are both most likely going to Smackdown for the cruiserweight division.

DDP & Kanyon would be a good team for WWF to make. DDP and Kanyon will likely never truly get over as a singles. But both have enough talent that WWF should try to use as best as they can. Both of them also fit together well they can bring up the new jersey thing as the link for the team.

 

Eddy & Chavo would be good and even better if Chavo calls him Uncle Eddy. But it appears that WWF is planning on giving Eddy another singles push...hopefully without anything related to latino heat. Also Chavo should be called up to be a major heel if the cruiser division succeeds.

 

Christian & Shannon Moore could be a good team and both have that pretty boy blonde look that fits together. But it looks like WWF may try to rebuild the euro title with Christian. And depending on how the cruiser division works out Moore could get called up for that.

 

The team of Lance Storm Rhyno and Dawn Marie does sound pretty damn good. Like that poster said it would basically be a more talented Hart Foundation. It would also help cover up Storm's mic skills which the WWF fans would claim sucks even thought Storm's serious act is some good shit. And on top of that the team would lead to some good comedy bits with Lance and Dawn Marie trying to control the Man Beast...i mean Rhyno not Chyna.

 

They should bring up O'Haire and team him up with a guy that's been around that could help out O'haire in the matches if he had problems caused by being relatively new. He has too good of a look for WWF to keep off tv for too long and he wasn't that bad when he was on tv...he was just young and "green". A semi veteren would help him alot until he got comfortable in the "big time". Awesome and O'Haire would be a good team since both are bigger guys that can move. They'd be even better now that most of the teams will be younger guys that would be more willing to take their big moves.

 

A better double team move for RVD & Beniot would be 5 star frog splash followed by the crossface. But there is no chance of that team since both guys have big futures as singles.

 

Nova & Hurricane wouldn't be a bad team just because of the comic book thing. However Helms would be better suited at trying to get the cruiser division over, along with Kidman, Tajiri and Rey it would make for a good starting point to the division.
