Guest Jimbo Report post Posted March 7, 2004 Good game...Felton rules. That drive to the basket was gutsy as hell. William's reaction was great as all the Tar Heels were just grining in awe. I woulda liked to have seen Coach K's raection though, although it may not have been appropriate for television, lol.

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 7, 2004 In case you were wondering, here's the one Top 150 player committed to Georgetown: Cornelio Guibunda, 6-foot-9, 204 pounds, PF, The King Low Heywood Thomas School (Conn.), orginally from Mozambique. Ranked #101 on rivals.com for CLass of 2004 recruits. He averaged 25.2 points, 14 rebounds, and 7.8 blocks as a junior. He sounds good, but Esherick and the AD act like they've got the Fab Five coming in.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Maryland beats Virginia and pretty much locks up a NCAA Tourney spot barring a lot of upsets in the Conference Tournaments.
Gert T 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Yeah I think Maryland probably did punch their ticket today. Did anybody see the Florida-UK game today? Was Florida just out of it and not giving a damn enough to play D or is Kentucky really that good at running the floor. That looked like 40 minutes of hell out there today. I'm guessing it was more a result of lazy passes and VERY lazy transition D.

I didn't see the game, but from what I have seen from Florida this season they don't seem to give a whole lot of commitment to defense. When I see them play they appear to give up a lot of easy baskets. I haven't seen much of them since Drejer left to play in Spain but I imagine that did not help them much. Guest Redhawk Report post Posted March 8, 2004 I put Florida in the same group with Louisville, North Carolina, Florida State (if they get in) and Illinois. It's just as likely that they'll advance to the Elite Eight as it is they'll get knocked out in the first round.
Mole 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2004 UGH, UConn lost tonight and didn't get a share of the Big East. It wouldn't surprise me if they lost in the second round.
Guest Jimbo Report post Posted March 8, 2004 Yeah, Packer's suggestion that Calhoun has Okafor sit out the Big East tournement seems very prudent at the moment after seeing him in the Syracuse game. I'm sure they would love to win the Big East tourney, but priorities are priorities and I doubt that comes before the NCAA''s. They aren't getting a #1 seed, and their line up without him is still very, verg good, so I really think it is worth letting him rest.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2004 Do NOT put FL in the category with U of L. Florida is a team that plays with no guts or passion whatsoever against a quality team. U of L has tried hard in every game this season aside from that TCU debacle. 7 of U of L's 8 losses have been very close, hard fought games.
Der Kommissar 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2004 This should make a few people here happy... Georgetown fires Esherick Craig Esherick was fired Tuesday by Georgetown after a 13-15 season, the Hoyas' third straight out of the NCAA Tournament. President John J. DeGioia made the announcement in a statement. "After careful deliberation I have decided that it is time to make a change in leadership in our men's basketball program," he said. Esherick, who succeeded John Thompson as coach in 1999, had a contract that runs through the 2008-09 season. He indicated in the past two weeks that he was safe in his position and told people to "stay tuned," referring to the strong recruiting class he had for next season. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2004 I really hate the announcers for the Maryland-UTEP game. They just CAN'T let last week go, they CAN'T quit kissing the ass of Maryland and they REFUSE to give UTEP any credit for anything they are doing. It's all "obviously this is because Maryland isn't playing well" I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were a scrub when you win more than 20 games.
