Guest Tony149 Posted February 9, 2002 Report Posted February 9, 2002 Who's the best NWA/WCW U.S. Champion?
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted February 9, 2002 Report Posted February 9, 2002 I voted Luger because he had some pretty damn good runs as both a face and a heel with the US Title.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 10, 2002 Report Posted February 10, 2002 I voted for "Stunning" Steve because he was always my favorite wrestler. And he was a really good "wrestler" before the injuries. He gave Steamboat his last good series of matches too...
Guest ratboy Posted February 10, 2002 Report Posted February 10, 2002 Really, only Luger, Koloff, Magnum or Rude could be my choice. The other wrestlers better epitomized other titles, IMHO. I go with Luger, as he had such a great 1989 with that belt, and I feel he made both himself and the belt a stronger draw in that year.
Guest Tony149 Posted February 10, 2002 Report Posted February 10, 2002 I voted for Tully due to his great feud with Magnum, but Luger was a great U.S. Champ for the reasons mentioned above.
Guest Kagato Otaku Posted February 10, 2002 Report Posted February 10, 2002 Rick Rude. Austin's great, but his U.S. title reign was marred by backstage shenanigans. He fought Muta, he fought Steamboat. Those are the ONLY two feuds they built up for him, and the guy was champion eight & a half months. Outside of a few matches with Pillman & Rhodes, it was title defenses vs. Charlie Norris & Pez Whatley from here to eternity. Jobber city. Rude was the epitome of the U.S. title. Yes, I've seen Luger and the other guys' reigns. But Rude's the best. He practically owned that belt, just like he owned WCW in '92.
Guest fouronthefloor77 Posted February 11, 2002 Report Posted February 11, 2002 Blanchard:except for the Magnum TA feud and the kick ass I-Quit cage match he held the belt for about four months Luger:five-time U.S. champion he WAS the U.S. title from 87-91 he was over as both a face and heel and defended against everybody even though he's not looked upon as a good worker his dominance can't be ignored. Magnum TA:extremely over It's cool to think about where he would've gone if he hadn't had the accident. The Blanchard feud the Nikita Koloff feud ahhh memories. Rhodes:he doesn't really rate in my book I really don't hate the guy like others do,he's a pretty decent workerbut he never really impressed me. Koloff:amazingly he held the belt for eleven months, astonishing by todays standards his feud with Magnum was cool and his matches with Flair were good but not much else.I wonder how he felt about jobbing the belt to Luger. Austin:If we only knew then what we know now.this was before all the injuries and he was capable of working good matches. It seemes pretty dumb politics dictated he job the belt to Duggan Steamboat:He never really held the belt long enough to make an impact, but steamboat was one of those people who didn't need a belt to get over. Rude:he held the belt for over a year, his matches with Steamboat were classics. Sting:see Steamboat
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted February 11, 2002 Report Posted February 11, 2002 If we only knew then what we know now.this was before all the injuries and he was capable of working good matches. Speak for yourself. Stunning Steve was always my favorite wrestler.
Guest Dark Lotus Posted February 11, 2002 Report Posted February 11, 2002 Rick Rude had that great run in 1992, he OWNED WCW. Hell, his title seemed more important than the World title at the time.
Guest dreamer420 Posted February 12, 2002 Report Posted February 12, 2002 I vote for Rude as well. He was dominent in WCW and his matches rules all as well.
Guest krambigmac Posted March 21, 2002 Report Posted March 21, 2002 Luger was the belt. From 2/20/89-7/14/91 he held that belt with the exception of a 3 week Hayes reign and a 2 month Hansen reign. He went through two different designs of the US title and his only losses were flukes. That doesn't even include his reign in 87 and the 3 days in 98 when he beat the Hitman.
Guest The Man They Call Texas Blu Posted March 21, 2002 Report Posted March 21, 2002 Rick Rude for one reason and one reason only... HE IS F'N RICK RUDE! HE DOESN'T EVEN NEED A REASON! But Steve Austin came in close second... just because...
