Guest MikeJohnson Report post Posted April 9, 2002
PHOENIX CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING MAYHEM 2002 TOUR OPENS MAY 17TH!
QUADRUPLE MAIN EVENT ANNOUNCED INCLUDING A FAREWELL TO NOVA!
Phoenix Championship Wrestling's Mayhem 2002 tour plans to scorch all corners of the Garden State this summer and will be opening on Friday night May 17th at the Rec Station in Toms River, New Jersey! The opening night of Mayhem 2002 promises to be a special evening as PCW presents not one, but FOUR main events and bids farewell to Toms River's favorite son Nova in his last hometown appearance before joining the World Wrestling Federation!
Nova, currently one half of the PCW Tag Team champions Evolution with "The Future" Frankie Kazarian has been touring around the world since the closing of Extreme Championship Wrestling last year, and everyone at Phoenix Championship Wrestling is proud beyond words that his hard work has paid off. On May 17th, The "InNOVAtor" and "The Future" will take to the ring for the FINAL time as they defend their championships against the Ballard Brothers.
That championship defense is only half the story! On Nova's last night, friends and family and performers from past and present will all congregate in Toms River to pay tribute and give congratulations to PCW's own Nova. We invite everyone to take part in the festivities! "We are going to give Nova the sendoff he richly deserves," said PCW owner Donnie B. "No one can deny how hard he has worked the last ten years, and he's going to have to work even harder now, so for one night we're going to invite everyone past and present from Nova's life: family, friends and workers to throw the biggest send-off in the history of Toms River along with some of the best wrestling action the state of New Jersey has ever seen!"
Not everyone in Phoenix Championship Wrestling will be in a celebratory mood on May 17th. PCW Heavyweight champion Harley Lewis will be forced to contend with number one contender the Wall in a championship defense. After defeating Gangrel to earn his championship match, the Wall was attacked and systematically destroyed by the champion. Now, the Wall wants to use his chokeslam for more than championship glory -- he wants vengeance in the first ever Tables, Ladders, Chairs, Chains & Doors match! Anything Goes with only one goal in mind for these combatants: Decimation of the other!
Decimation is also on the mind of Jumbo Joe Gunns. New Jersey's own cowboy was abandoned and attacked by the Prophet at PCW's last event in Toms River, leaving Gunns prey to the malacious attack of the Matrix. Now, The Prophet and Gunns will battle one on one in a grudge match!
The stakes are raised even higher for the Prophet, as should he not defeat Gunns, each and every VIP ticketholder at Mayhem 2002's tour opener will be armed with produce from the local Shop-Rite, with Prophet being their lone target! After smashing a tomato in the face of a young fan while verbally assaulting the Toms River fans, the Prophet may have to learn the hard way that what goes around, comes around Phoenix-style on May 17th!!
Phoenix Championship Wrestling is also proud to present a battle between two of most gifted technical wrestlers to ever grace the squared circle as former ECW World Heavyweight champion Jerry Lynn battles Little Guido Maritato! During his last PCW appearance, Lynn took Nova to the limit with a time limit draw. "The New Fn' Show" is looking to solidify his place on the PCW roster with a big victory over the "The Sicilian Shooter." Meanwhile, the former multi-time ECW World Tag Team champion Little Guido wants to make a statement by making his PCW debut a victorious one!

PCW MAYHEM 2002 TOUR OPENER
Friday Night May 17th at 7:30 PM
Toms River, New Jersey
The Rec Station
1 South Main Street

FAREWELL TO NOVA:
PCW Tag Team champions Evolution vs. The Ballard Brothers

PCW CHAMPIONSHIP: TABLES, LADDERS, CHAIRS, CHAINS & DOORS
Harley Lewis defends against The Wall

FORMER ECW CHAMPIONS COLLIDE
Jerry Lynn vs. Little Guido Maritato

THE FIRST-EVER PRODUCE MATCH
Jumbo Joe Gunns vs. The Prophet

Also scheduled for the Mayhem 2002 tour opener are PCW Television champion "The Prodigy" Tom Marquez who will be defending his championship in Toms River along with the rest of the Matrix, Internationally renowned Zero-One superstar Samoa Joe, Prince Nana who is continuing the search for his long-lost brother, Dick Benz and Little Ricky, Big 80s Donnie B, PCW Commissioner Dr. Hurtz and more!
PCW Firebird TV is seen weekly on the Comcast Cable network in New Jersey.
