Guest Kamui Report post Posted November 28, 2003 http://www.warppipe.com The Warp Pipe beta client has been released- it's a program that lets you hook your Gamecube up to the internet using the broadband adapter and connect to other people to play online in games that are LAN-enabled (so far, just Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Kirby Air Ride), tricking it into thinking you're playing on a LAN. So, in layman's terms, you get the added feature of online play to one of the best games to come out this year (Double Dash, not KAR, which is merely OK) for FREE. I finally get to try it out tommorow once I pick up the last thing I need (a cross cable) to hook everything up, but the videos released of online play look promising! Just looking to see if anyone else on here has the game and is going to be playing online, because this game is so much fun and now online play makes it THAT MUCH BETTER. For those of you wondering, you need a broadband connection of some kind (Cable with 256+ upload is reccomonded for perfect framerate, but if you have DSL, which only has a 128 KB upload, you can still play, just the framerate will take a hit). There's a million different connection options supported- one way or another, you have to have your computer and Gamecube hooked up to the same internet connection. It's all explained on their site. Also, if you're using a router or some other set-up that has the connection active to your Gamecube and PC at the same time, make sure you're not on Kazaa or downloading/uploading anything, because if you are the speed will be SUPER-SLOW. With all that techno-babble out of the way- anyone else taking this online? -Duo
claydude14 0 Report post Posted November 28, 2003 I'll be going online eventually, but for now I'm satisfied with 8 player LAN.
