Guest Posted April 9, 2002 Report Posted April 9, 2002 I heard alot of good things about him and downlaoded some of his songs. They were all him making weird noises and it sounded liek he was just strumming on his guitar to pass time and not make music. The few I listened to all sounded the same. Am I just not getting it? And how old and when and how did he kill himself at?
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 9, 2002 Report Posted April 9, 2002 He didn't kill himself, he drowned in the Mississippi (or maybe another river?). I'd stick with him, I think he's great. Probably needs a few listens to get into properly.
Guest Posted April 9, 2002 Report Posted April 9, 2002 I always thought he killed himself. How old was he? MAybe you can suggest good songs because I would like to try to give him another cahcne.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted April 9, 2002 Report Posted April 9, 2002 Not sure how old he was...mid 20's maybe. My favourite song of his is "Everybody here wants you" which I think is really beautiful.
Guest R2DFooster McSockman Posted April 9, 2002 Report Posted April 9, 2002 Jeff Buckley drowned in Memphis' Wolf River on May 29th, 1997. I believe he was 30. I agree that his music is an aquired taste, so I would advise you to bypass downloads, buy Grace, listen to it a few times, and if you aren't mesmerised, you can beat me up. If you really want to download songs before buying the album, I recommend "Lover, You Should've Come Over", "Grace" and "Dream Brother".
Guest muzanisa Posted April 9, 2002 Report Posted April 9, 2002 He is an accquired taste. I got Grace and first listen thought typical middle of the road American soft rock. Listened again for Corpus Christi Carol and Lilac wine and probably haven't gone a week without listening to the whole thing since. I've lent it to friends and they haven't got into it. Buy the CD and listen a few times if it doesn't grab you pass it on.
