Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 9, 2002 So Spike wins the Euro title on Raw. I thought after the split the Euro title would have more significance, but this is just a joke. Spike isn't over, isn't entertaining. There are so many wrestlers on the roster, why does Spike consistently get pushed?
Guest Report post Posted April 9, 2002 I heard a good pop for Spike actually.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted April 9, 2002 I was going nuts. I was "holy shit, what the hel jus thappend?!" and 3 seconds (lterally) later, Spike won.
Guest Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Spike knocked Regal the fuck out. Regal is such a tool to job to Spike. Hopefully his career is over.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted April 9, 2002 no offense to Regal, but he should leave WWF and go to a shoot fed like UFC. his style is way too akward for anyone to match and rarely you see a **+ match that includes him.
Guest Mystery Eskimo Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal has lost a lot since his best WCW days. When he was TV champ he was great.
Guest Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal would wussed out the UFC in no time. The man is not skilled enough.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted April 9, 2002 1/2 the people in UFC over the years sucked. whats your point? UF is for competition of seeing whos the best SHOOT figher their is.
Guest Report post Posted April 9, 2002 My point is I jsut don't think Regal will be able to handle himself that well you dick.
Guest humongous2002 Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal was a pretty entertaining wrestler back in the old WCW back in the early 90's , but years of drug abuse has made this man unwatchable in the ring but he still is great with promos.
Guest mastermind Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Brock Lesnar NEW EUROPEAN CHAMPION when he kills Spike Dudley in the ring.
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal probably dropped the belt so he could do more mike work (manager, commentator, etc), since he seems to get better reactions that way than from his mat work (which I personally like, given the right competitors). I'm not completely sold on Spike as a Euro champ, but hey, it's something new, and the crowd kinda dug it. Maybe it will lead to a feud with the greatest Euro champ of all time... D'Lo Brown and his killer running Lyger Bomb. I mean, who else would be crazy enough to take it?
Guest Goodear Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal's lost what he had, and I was pretty bored with what he had to begin with what with all the slow mat wrestling. How many time limit draws can someone go to in a month?
Guest Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal was a pretty entertaining wrestler back in the old WCW back in the early 90's , but years of drug abuse has made this man unwatchable in the ring but he still is great with promos. How are you sure it was the painkillers? I think its just he sucks and can't wrestle anyone and try to acomodate there styles.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted April 9, 2002 The combination of age, injuries, and reported drug use have slowed Regal way down over the past several years. Also, his style just doesn't mesh with the typical WWF wrestlers, of which Edge was probably the best example. When Regal was wrestling someone who could really work with him, like Benoit, you could have a great match, but only a couple of guys in the WWF can work like that. As for Spike, my guess is that the WWF wants to put the Euro belt on another heel (Lesnar?), and Spike is just a prop to get it off Regal first.
Guest muzanisa Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal got back in the WWF from the developmentals because he had an excellent match at the Pillman show with Benoit. Since he's come back his mtches have not been great but he hasn't been working with the best wrestlers. I prefer him in the Commish role with maybe the odd PPV match thrown in. Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted April 9, 2002 The first thing I thought when Spike won was that he was a transitional champion ... but still can't figure out who gets the gold next. No way it'd be Lesnar already; he needs to have a televised match or two, and a PPV, prior to capturing gold. Regal is still good in the ring, just not the type of match that people today are conditioned to. When he had AA, Steamboat, etc. to work with, he was more in his element. Keep him for his mic skills, and to shoot on ego trips like he did with Goldberg. Off the subject, but: I missed the first part of Raw, and came in during the Dudley-Booker match. What the hell's with Bubba Ray, the "most dancingest" hardcore champion gimmick? (dumbass quote care of JR)
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Buh Buh Ray did a little old school white boy hip hop dance to counteract Booker T's Spinaroonie before their match. In case you didn't know, it was a throwback to his days in ECW when he got into an impromptu dance contest with 2 Cold Scorpio, Blue Meanie (I think), and the Sandman of all people. Hey, whatever gets him over...
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted April 9, 2002 I vaguely remember the dance off, but all of the ECW shenanigans seemed more tongue-in-cheek ... with VKM I'm terrified that Bubba Ray is going to become a dancing wrestler. Good news, Terry Taylor, there's a chance that the Red Rooster gimmick might get surpassed as the "worst gimmick for a cool wrestler"
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 9, 2002 I actually liked the way they handled this and they will probably continue it for another week or two. But i'd say it's likely that WWF is going to move him away from the ring so he won't win it back and keep it. WWF probably realizes that Regal's talking is worth more then his wrestling at this point. And Spike got a pretty good reaction when he won, but rather or not it holds up remains to be seen. However it isn't that hard to get the fans to cheer a under dog like him, but still he is probably just buying time till WWF is ready to put the belt on whoever they have lined up. Well there's nothing that says Lesnar can't get the belt before having a real match. All he has to do is kill Spike and steal the belt then tell him if he wants it back all he has to do is beat him. The only problem is that unless they are planning on majorly improving the status of it the euro may not be important enough to have Lesnar hold. Well they can't move him to IC yet and hardcore belongs with guys like Buh Buh so Euro is his only choice belt wise. So either they will elevate the euro or Brock won't be holding a belt in near future.
Guest Singular Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Regal just came off a reign as IC champion, and is immediatly given the Euro championship. I agree that Regal's style is different than the majority of the WWF guys, but he is an asset to the WWF in his mic work. Why can't Spike have a euro title run? He is the best bumper in the WWF, bar none. He's okay on the mic and his in ring work is okay. He's not going to have the most technical matches in the world, but I think they would be watchable. His matches with Mike Awesome in ECW were entertaining, and I don't think Awesome carried him. If he is a transitional champion than mabey the title will go to... I have no idea. I don't see it going on Lesnar. He had the chance to take the Hardcore title in his television debut and didn't. Why settle for the Euro title?
Guest Ripper Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Spike getting thrown through and off of stuff would get him to being the most over guy on Raw(ok...maybe not most over but damn close)...
Guest Report post Posted April 9, 2002 Spike should crowd surf like he used too he'd get so over.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 10, 2002 The Euro title is just a joke. Even on the Smarkboard, its below the Hardcore title, which most would agree is trash. Spike is a great bumper, and even though I didn't really like the "match" he had to win the title, it was cute and better than a dragging bad match. But can traditional cannon fodder like Spike Dudley be able to handle the offensive role that being a "fighting champion" requires? I'd like to see them put the title on a returning D'Lo Brown, at least he used it with a gimmick and made it over for a little while. Other than that, do you really think anyone cares about the European belt? It's basically just something they give to guys that are kinda over in the midcard, but don't necessarily deserve a "real" championship or push.
Guest Report post Posted April 10, 2002 Regal probably dropped the belt so he could do more mike work (manager, commentator, etc), since he seems to get better reactions that way than from his mat work He's great on the mike, so I'd rather he go in that direction. In all honesty, I'd love for him to return to his "Goodwill Ambassador" role, where he was condescending but not arrogant, and somewhat oblivious to the crowd's hatred. That was a character that I enjoyed. The Eureo champ has never really been more than a vanity or midcard belt, but it could definitely boost someone's career if they were built as a credible champion. Putting it on someone like, say, Booker T and giving him a good run with the belt could help him gain some credibility.
Guest Report post Posted April 10, 2002 They Should Rename Buh Buh Das WunderKid Dudley in honor of the Da Dance Freak Alex Wright.Oh man Alex Wright had them great dance moves down. LOL As for the European Title. I say rename it to the TV Title. Also WTF is up with them dumping slushies on his head?? Was that some sort of WWF selling their 7-11 slushy advertisment that totally blew past me. At first I thought it was some sort of them ready to beat him down angle.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 10, 2002 Yeah the dumping of the slushies was nothing but shameless self promotion. It made no sense but i guess it will magically sell slushies now.
Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted April 10, 2002 Person most needing a WWF Title.......BOOKER T SUCKA!
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted April 10, 2002 I'd like to see them put the title on a returning D'Lo Brown, at least he used it with a gimmick and made it over for a little while. Al Snow made the Euro belt 10x more entertaining than D'Lo, IMO.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 10, 2002 I don't mind Spike as champion. The guy takes a beating week in and week out so he deserves a minor Europeon title win. Regal did fuck all for the title both times he had it so I'm glad to see it on someone like Spike. He looked like that title win really meant something to him, even though it was the Europeon title.
