How can I make this AVI filesize smaller?

Recommended Posts

Guest Jimbo

there's about a million Avi compressing utilities you can find on download.com, searchign google, yahoo, etc.

If you don't mind switching to .wmv file type, Windows Media Encoder does teh trick and there's plenty of encoding options, so you can control the quality of the new, smaller file.

RM Converter

I suggest downloading a crack for it.

If I convert it to RM, how much smaller will the file be?

You can adjust the frame rate and audio quality, so the size depends on that.

Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz

For your no codec for DVSD problem, click here.

To compress video, the Divx format is probably the way to go. Get the Kazaa Lite Full Codec pack and only install the following:

(you can install all of them but keeping things to a minimum will make your life easier.)

(First uninstall any other codec pack you don't need or contains older versions of the following:)

- DivX Pro [version 5.1.1] [Decoding]

- DivX Pro [version 5.1.1] [Encoding]

- Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 ACM Codec [version 1.2.0.63]

...and anything else you know you need.

For Virtualdub help and settings, I'll get back to you.

for the compression, use the DivX codec

go to Video>Compression> and choose Divx then Configure

lower the encoding bitrate a bit and try compressing like that, if it's still too big try lowering it more etc
