Guest Report post Posted April 9, 2002 -Show opens with a special video, making the KOTR tourney feel more important. -Jim Ross and King are at ringside. Bull Buchanan's music hits. He comes out for his 1st round match up with Chris Jericho. Match 1: KOTR First Round Chris Jericho def. Bull Buchanan in 5:34 with the Walls of Jericho. -Post match, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley makes her way out and tells Jericho that he won't be KOTR, Kurt Angle will be. -Backstage, Val Venis, with Trish, Test and Albert, guarantee victory over Rikishi. Rikishi, with Too Cool, tells Coach that Val will not only get beat, but will get a Stinkface as well. Match 2: KOTR First Round Rikishi def. Val Venis in 6:29 with a Rikishi Driver. -Post match, Rikishi gets a total beatdown from Val, Test and Albert, and Too Cool get destoryed when they try and help. Too Cool are hurt so bad they cannot compete in tonight's Fatal four way tag title match. -Triple H, Vince, Shane, and DX all discuss strategies for their matches tonight. -Ross and King announce that the Hardcore Title match between Brisco and Patterson has been cancelled, and Crash Holly, the previous champion, has been re-instated with the Hardcore Title, and Brisco and Ptterson will not be allowed to wrestle in the Hardcore Division again. -Crash stands by with the Hardcore belt. He promises to beat Chris Benoit and become the first ever Hardcore KOTR. -Match 3: KOTR First Round Chris Benoit def. Crash Holly in 2:29 with the Crossface. -Ross and King discuss the brackets, which have Benoit/Jericho, and Rikishi meeting Kurt Angle or Eddie Guererro. -Backstage, Kurt Angle is with Stephanie McMahon Helmsley and they both promise to win this match, and the KOTR. Match 4: KOTR First Round Kurt Angle def. Eddie Guererro in 10:28with an Angle Slam. -Post match, Chris Jericho rushes the ring and he and Angle brawl. Benoit and Rikishi join the party a few seconds later. Everyone is separated. -The Rock, Kane and The Undertaker discuss tonight's matchup, and tease dissension over the WWF Title. -Angle is flipping out backstage about Chris Jericho, and Stephanie has to calm him down, and Triple H walks in on them hugging. He asks Angle to leave and they have a staredown. Steph says that they need to talk about tonight's mission. -The Dudley Boyz cut a promo on DX before their big Dumpster/Table match. DX cuts a promo as well. Match 5: Dumpster/Tables Match The Dudley Boyz def. DX in 11:28 when they SuperBomb Tori through a table. -Post match, X-Pac and Roadogg try and carry Tori to the back, and fight about it much like HBK/Martel/Sherri WrestleMania 8. -Chris Jericho cuts a promo on Kurt Angle, but Benoit interuppts and tells him that he better not be over looking him. Match 6: KOTR Semi Finals Chris Jericho def. Chris Benoit in 15:30 with a roll-up. -Post match, Benoit shakes Jericho's hand and wishes him good luck. -Stephanie calls Kurt Angle from her dressing room phone and he is coming in to her and Triple H's room to discuss strategy. -Crash Holly is attacked by someone in a hooded shirt in the parking lot and has his face put through a car window. The person pins Crash and reveals himself as Tazz. He is the new Hardcore Champion. Match 7: Kurt Angle def. Rikishi in 6:21 after Val Venis busted Rikishi open with a chair shot. -Edge and Christian cut a promo backstage, congratulating Angle and wishing him luck and promising to return with their belts. -The Hardy Boyz dedicate the match to Too Cool, who couldn't make it for the match due to T and A and Val Venis. -T and A cut a promo with Trish and Val standing by. Match 8: WWF Tag Team Championship Match Triple Threat Elimination Match © Edge and Christian def. Hardy Boyz and T and A in 10:46 after Edge pins Jeff Hardy because he nails him with the belt. -Rikishi attacks T and A and Val Venis in the back. Officials break it up. -Ross and King recap the KOTR so far and a special video introduces us to the finals. Jericho cuts a promo and Angle cuts another one with Stephanie. Match 9: KOTR Finals Kurt Angle def. Chris Jericho in 25:38 after Triple H hits a Pedigree. -Post match, Triple H takes Jericho's leg out with a sledgehammer. -Angle and Stephanie celebrate all the ways to the back, hopping and dancing, until they run into Vince and Shane. They stop and Vince and Shane take Steph away to discuss the main event. -The Rock cuts a promo on Triple H and the WWF Title.
