No, the gangsta rap image and sound he sold and lived is dead. Even P. Didy's record sales have dried up.

To me personally believe there's no such thing a "Gangsta Rap" its just the media's way to give rap negative image. I'll just say its hardcore rap if that makes sense.

Well not everyone on the roster but they did sales of his last album some where and he sold no where close to what he has in the past. I also think the article said something about the one rapper leaving because he found god, another one jailed, and Faith Evans was looking to jump.

Why would she want to jump? Cause Puffy is all over his artists shit. He is a glory hog. Gotta be in every video and evry damn record. I'm not a big fan of rap but I know good stuff when I hear it and Diddy just don't have it.

yea, tha row might be something i doubt it thou, but I have heard that puff looking 4 someone distribute bad boy and he is going 2 the courts in attempt 2 hold to his top R&B acts (112 , faith wit her fine ass) cuz he knows theyre only that do sale, cuz his rap acts aint good at all. since he snitch on syne that was his rapper.

Tha Row will fail unless Suge Knight can still sell Tupac stuff because there are still Tupac marks that will buy it.

Puff Daddy and Bad Boy are finished. The only rappers he has left are Black Rob and G Dep. 112 and Faith Evans both wanted out and that would leave just Carl Thomas but I doubt he would stay with a dying label.

As far as Faith Evans goes, she has done pretty good as far as making herself over. Biggie made and upgrade when he dumped his old girlfriend for Faith. Faith didn't look half as good as she does now, but I guess Biggie was trying to get the stcok before it rose too high.

Eh i don't really care. People are going to start dying off in mysterious ways when he returns. Eh i'd like to see "Pdiddy" slumped down in the door of his limo after being taken out.

Biggie didn't dump Faith for Lil Kim and if he did, you would probably understand if you were to put things in perspective. Look at Faith then and look at her now, there is a big difference there.

Suge Knight really isn't shit right now and doesn't have as much power as he used to have. I would be willing to bet that there are rappers now who have more power than he does. From what I heard, he was trying to talk to Jay-Z at the Soul Tran Music Awards and Jay-Z kept ignoring him and Suge Knight got mad and left while JAy-Z laughed at him. It would behoove Suge Knight to stay out of trouble since Robert Kenner is no longer at his side.

So rap seems to have lost almost all of its momentum from 5 or 6 years ago...

not to sound cynical or anything but :P

Actually it has gained momentum, but nothing good is really being put out. It's a bunch of pop bullshit that is on the radio these days. It seems like everybody has all of the same obligatory collaborations (Neptunes, Ashanti, Fabulous and any other flavor of the month) because they think it's necessary to sell their records. Also, the talent pool has dwindled considerably. You have a guy like Jay-Z who used to be good, but is puttin out garbage and selling it based on name value. People are bowing to his throne and proclaiming him the king of hip hop and Harlem Shaking rap into the damn toilet.

i dont know why im so bitter against rap, probably because i live in NYC, and absolutely everone thinks they're a rapper, your on the train, its well expected to heear people just start rhyming etc., so i cant tell any rappers apart, and i hate them all, not that im narrow-minded or anything :)

yea, thats true rap right now isnt gaining momentum of late after the Jay-Z and Nas feud died down for a minute, everybody are proably releasing their albums later this spring and summer i cant 4 that eminem's new album comes out cuz im tired of this pop rap shit they play on the radio eventhough dont mind it if im at the club. most of these cats are just flavors of the month (fabulous, Nelly, ja rule) i just cant 4 the late spring and summer releases.

Death Row could make a come back.

You wanna know why?

Suge Knight is one rich motherfucker, you can't believe how much he made off the following albums:

Dr. Dre Chronic

Snoop: DoggyStyle

2pac: Me agasint the world

THose combined sold more than 20 million and that does'nt even include singles sold and dogg pound and snoops and 2pacs other albums plus numerous other things.

Suge can basically sign any free agent that is out there, he has got a ton of money.

What he has to realize is that to get the talent to come he has got to get some fuckin decent producers.

All the albums before sold so well becasue dre was either producing or executive producing.  If suge can find some decent prooduction it will be on again.

Does anyone know someone Suge could hire to produce?

"Well not everyone on the roster but they did sales of his last album some where and he sold no where close to what he has in the past. I also think the article said something about the one rapper leaving because he found god, another one jailed, and Faith Evans was looking to jump. "

That must be a old article, because Faith just signed a new contract, 112 is trying to jump but we all know that will equal death, the Lox left after one platnuim album and are struggling to go gold since, Black Rob went platnuim, P-diddy and the familiy(or what ever it was called) went at leat platnuim(probably more) Faith,multi-platnuim, Carl Thomas, multi-platnium, Dream, multiplatnium 112(their last album was still badboy) multi-platnum....that just doesn't look like falling off to me.  Thats 6 platnuim artist with coming out with only 7 albums. (I'm not sure how G-dep sold)

As for Suge, he won't be able to sign any free agents because everyone in the business knows that he treats his artist like crap.  Only peopl elike Left Eye(who no label will take because she is so unreliable) and Kurupt(who is just stupid) and hungry underground guys would sign to Death Row. West Coast outside of Snoops influence is dead.  The Eastsiders, Snoop, and Xhibit are just about the only ones people actually want to listen to from that coast in general.

So unless Milkbone is about to explode as the next white rapper and Left Eye's voice gets about 10 less annoying and Kurupt...well unless he is hooking back up with Daz, Suge has no chance.

Jay-z, Dre, Puffy and Russel Simmons (Aftermath with Dre and Eminem, Jay-z with...well himself and the upcoming Camron album, Puffy with 112(for the time being) Carl Thomas, Black Rob, Faith, Dream, and whether you like or not he is guarenteed to go at least platinum and Russell is well..Russell)

are the only record company owning people running this industry.

BTW, Fabolous has skills,  don't sleep because he is on MTV.

Fabolous: another dude loved when he was underground now being hated on because he is commercially successful.  SAD!!

Puffy has no influence on music anymore. Bad Boy is on life support.

As far as Fabulous, I don't remember anyone liking him when he was on the underground scene. The guy sucks and yo can quote me on that. If he came to my front door rightnow, I would tell him he sucks. As far as commercial success, where is it? Cameo appearances? Commercial success isn't a measure of skill either if you really want to look at it. Look at Nelly. He's got commercial success but is one of the biggest peices of garbage I can think of. How fucked up is rap that you have an N Sync and Nelly collaboration? Tell me that Nelly isn't commercial.
