Guest KingOfMen Report post Posted February 9, 2002 I guess it depends on your definition of sport. If sport is considered an athletic competition than no. Dancing on skates to music and being judged subjectively is not really competition, it's performance. Is figure skating sports entertainment then?
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted February 10, 2002 Figure skating is as much of a sport as gymnastics. I make no judgments about the validity of either. As for figure skating being non-athletic, I disagree totally. All of the jumps and spins they do certainly qualifies them as athletes.
Guest theWCWRaider Report post Posted February 10, 2002 I don't know if its a sport or not. I generally would classify it as an event, as I would anything where your success depends on a judge. It may be athletic, but I'm not sure its a sport. Same with gymnastics.
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted February 10, 2002 What about boxing?
Guest theWCWRaider Report post Posted February 10, 2002 Boxing is different, because you can win without the decision of the judge. a knockout is in your control. In those other events, unless I'm missing something, it is all up to the judge to determine/grade your performance. Though, I will say this about Boxing, the longer things head the direction they're going, the more I begin to wonder if its not a big work.
