Guest ligerbomb03 Report post Posted December 6, 2003 Jushin Thunder Liger made a challenge to GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Takashi Sugiura, to face him on New Japan's 1/4 Tokyo Dome. Liger said that he's been without a singles belt for too long, the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title having been off of his waist since July, 2000, and is ready to take a new title. And what better way than to, like Nagata and Tanahashi, snatch a title from the enemy? Sugiura defeated Liger in one of the biggest upsets of the Super Junior tournament earlier this year, but Liger got back at Sugiura and showed his temper during the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title Tournament shortly after, pinning him in a semi final match. Now Liger is ready to take down NOAH's dominant junior king, and add another title to his extensive collection. SOURCE: http://www.puroresufan.com So what does everyone think of this news? Do you think Jushin Lyger would win this match and become the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion? I, personally, would love to see gold around his waist once again. Any feedback, folks? Guest NANIWA* Report post Posted December 6, 2003 I see big things coming out of this match. If booked smartly both NOAH and NJ should really benefit with a Liger title reign. Let me show you what I mean... First, Takashi IMO is a boring champion. Out of all of the NOAH Jr.'s, in my eyes at least, he's the least talented. I even put the inexperienced Kotaro Suzuki above him. They need to get the belt off of Sugiura, and soon! Naomichi Marufuji really needs a second run with the title, as his last one was cut short due to injury's and as a result forced him to drop the belt to Hashi . Which takes me back to a Takashi/Liger match. Let Liger when the belt, it does nothing to harm the division, getting beat by Liger makes nobody look weak. He's Jushin Thunder Liger for god's sake! It would boost the title's value to new heights, which has dropped a bit with the recent reigns of both Modest and Sugiura. Have Liger make 2 to 3 strong defenses of the title against NOAH, and maybe one against a NJ Jr. Then in a desperation move by NOAH, send in your ace of aces! Your final and most deadly weapon of them all. Naomichi Marufuji! It will probably be one of the biggest drawing matches for any Junior division in a long time. Just like against Tatsuhito Takaiwa, Marufuji would be NOAH's last hope to conquer the foreign enemy. An epic battle going back and forth, with Marufuji winning in the end, and once again becoming the hero for thousands of NOAH fans around Japan...
Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted December 6, 2003 This could really do some wonders for NOAH's already hot junior division. Workers like Hashi and Suzuki could really benefit from working with someone like Lyger in singles action.
Guest ligerbomb03 Report post Posted December 7, 2003 I think is a fantastic idea, and I agree with what has been said so far about how this could help NOAH's junior division.
Guest ligerbomb03 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 Liger vs. Sugiura set for 1/4! The first match for "WRESTLING WORLD 2004" has been announced! NOAH announced that Best of the Super Jr. semi finalist, Takashi Sugiura, will make his V2 defense of the GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title on New Japan's 1/4 Tokyo Dome super-show against the mighty Jushin Thunder Liger. New Japan has the chance to snatch a second title from NOAH, and Liger to avenge his upset singles loss to Sugiura from the BOSJ. More 1/4 matches should be announced soon. Meanwhile, Nagata & Tanahashi's V2 defense of the GHC Tag Team Title is now 100% official for NOAH's 1/10 Budokan event, their opponents, as revealed the other day, being Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa. Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted December 8, 2003 I see Lyger winning the belt in the Dome, and then making a defense in NOAH against Hashi, then one in NJPW against a more established wrestler like KENTA or Kanemaru. Then one in NJPW against a NJPW wrestler like Takemura or Gedo, then dropping the belt in NOAH to Marufuji.
Guest ligerbomb03 Report post Posted December 8, 2003 This will be Liger's biggest singles match in quite a while, and I also see him winning the title. He could hold it for a while and make a few defenses in both New Japan and NOAH before dropping it to a good younger wrestler. If Liger wins the title, I will be so very happy
Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted December 9, 2003 This is Lyger being used correctly. Lyger wins belt only to put over younger guy. He veterans, this is how it's done. I really hope this happens.
