Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted April 10, 2002 Hey, this specifically relates to the Undertaker, which I'm sure has been done to death before, but, like the majority of wrestling history and other smark stuff, I've never seen it, so I'm oblivious. Watching RAW last night, I was thinking, as usual, about people popping for all of Undertaker's moves and such even though he's supposed to be a heel? Is this a bad thing? From a dramatic/presentation standpoint I'd say yes, since he's supposed to be putting on a performance but he's just not a good enough actor to pull it off. From a merchandising standpoint I say it's definitely not, since he can still sell lots of merchandise (at least, I never see people buying heel merchandise... I would if it wasn't so damn expensive). In the WWF that definitely takes precedence (so it would seem), so why don't they just turn him face again? Wow, I tried to make this a general example. Sorry, but in my limited watching of past WWF/wrestling stuff, I can't think of any other examples of failed heel turns, since Austin never really stopped getting pops, especially after his "What?!" catch-phrase caught on. Guest Risk Report post Posted April 10, 2002 The very concept of heels and faces is juvenile and ludracris. I watch for the wrestling. I don't watch for THE CONSTANT BATTLE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL~!™
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted April 10, 2002 The problem with Taker is that he still won't sell much and never jobs, so nothing has changed but his hair cut. His 1st acts as a heel were to beat up the Hardys and Lita and then squash RVD and then squash Maven, Al Snow, and make Ric Flair look like a jobber. How are the fans supposed to boo him when he kills everybody? Austin's heel turn was a success as far as match quality goes, but a huge failure as far as drawing money goes, so it was a failure over all. Goldgerg's heel turn in WCW was just a failure all together. Sting's was as well. Matt Hardy's at the end of last year flopped.

Guest Risk Report post Posted April 10, 2002 The reasons Fatu doesn't get heat are: 1) He wears a thong. 2) Slaps his ass. 3) Has a VERY fat ass. 4) Sticks his ass in other mens' faces. 5) Doesn't have much mic skills. 6) Commentators and fans have grown to obsess other his ass. 7) He is pushed as some kind of Sir Mixalot Samoan. Guest Risk Report post Posted April 10, 2002 He is also pushed as a comedy wrestler, which is not good for his career in the long-run.
