Bold Prediction:

 

Lord of the Rings will not beat Spider-Man in the 3-day weekend gross. I don't think there's a big enough audience to do that. It will do great.....but not that great.

 

And no chance in hell of it beating Titanic for biggest box office receipts ever. Still could be the highest grossing movie of the year (for 2003/2004)

According to Box Office Mojo, the final 3 day number for Spider Man was $114,844,116. I don't think Lord of the Rings will beat that number in its 5 days, from Wednesday to Sunday, let alone just the weekend.

It's possible for it to beat Spider-Man. However, it being so long will hurt it, as it can't be shown as often per day.

I predict that ROTK will make more than Fellowship and Two Towers did. That's my prediction.
