Guest Dave O'Neill, Journalist Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 So, can anybody actaully explain what the Makai Club is suppose to be/do/represent. All I see is a bunch of jobbers and Tadao Yasuda. And the little manager guy The Kill Bill entrance music is kewl though. Furthermore, I got the NJPW October Dome show (Chono vs You Know Who) and Nishimura is prattling on about something, both in the pre match video, and pre match, anyone know whats going on, whats he saying. Furthermore, who was that guy with Osamu? The Puro n00b says thank you in advance
Guest Just Too Uber Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Makai used to be the big heel army in Japan, until it got neutered and people stopped caring. They have some good guys, too, outside of Yasuda, mainly Nagai, Murakami, and Shibata.
Guest Shuriken Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 The Makai Club storyline was basically a bunch of guys gathering up in order to force Antonio Inoki's vision of pro-wrestling in NJPW. That said vision is basically that wrestling should evolve into quasi-shoot fighting. Thats why most of the Makai Club members use a very kick-oriented offense, I guess. Anyways, the whole angle wasn't much of a success because the Makais weren't affraid to SUCK. As the angle advanced, they helped deteriorating the wrestling quality on shows and nobody really bought them as treats. You REALLY want to see Nagata/Murakami (12/11/02) and Nagata/Yasuda (4/23/03) as those two matches are the best representation of New Japan vs. Makai Club.
