Goodbye from the dvd guy...

Well, had to end sooner or later. Well, DVD.thesmarks.com ended pretty much on the "sooner" side of things, so at least we had a pretty decent run this time.

 

I know it was really just me flying solo towards the end of things, but I want to thank everyone form the old SmarkDVD crew as well as Matthew Hardway and OR Polk for their contributions to the (new) old SmarkDVD. Also a big thanks to everyone who took the time to mail me with questions, props, or blasphemy (note to self: Never criticise Kevin Smith on the internet...).

 

As for me, well, right now I'm not part of the Smark refugee party InVading 411. I might very well be welcome there, but I don't know. As for whatever this site becomes, I'll have to talk to the new boss here - you never know.

 

So thanks again to you guys, thanks to Scott for giving me some juice on the hottest independent wrestling site, and thanks to Scotsman for... well, for being Scotsman.

Sad but true, sorry to see you go Jay.  I guess this means I'll never get to try out and write for SmarksDVD ???.  But, that's how life is, and really, nobody was reading my reviews anyway so I would've made a bad columnist.

 

I don't want to sound selfish whining about how SmarksDVD leaving sucks because then I wouldn't get to write, so... as you already know from my e-mails, I enjoyed your weekly DVD news columns, they were concise, and properly credited (something always appreciated over the internet), and it was very sad when you were flying solo.  That was what prompted me to try out for SmarksDVD in the first place.

 

Whatever you are up to now, I hope its all good (its probably relaxing, I know I get worked up constantly writing for IMDb and posting on the Smarkboard... seriously, it takes a lot longer than people think, at least for me), and if you ever write for anywhere else and they need a couple extra columns a week or someone to cover trashy horror b-pics, be sure to drop me a line.

I mentioned this in the "Future of the Forum" folder, but I would love to see a DVD section in the new site, which is why I included it in my test site design. ( http://junimitsu.tripod.com ) So hopefully we'll see Jay Spree back in the picture here.

 

And I never figured out what "~" meant, either.

I've been told that the "~" is a Japanese wrestling thing.  It's added to the wrestler's name after they win the J-cup

And that J-Cup thing really makes sense, come to think of it (unless "LUCHA EDDY~" means something totally different, in which case I'm stumped).

 

I'm still looking for other places to go, but it looks like SmarkDVD, in some form or other, may not be finished after all. Any past SmarkDVD contributers or those who wrote me about trying out might want to drop me an email at [email protected]. I promise NOTHING~ but you never know.
