Guest Wonderboy Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I've caught BASEBALL FEVER for the first time in like 5 years, so does anybody know of the best baseball game to get this year? The only system I have is a PS2. The last baseball game I purchased was Triple Play 1998, which I didn't think was too bad, but I hear that the new Triple Play is shit. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.
Guest Smues Report post Posted April 11, 2002 The PS2 triple plays suck ass. I just bought High Heat 2003 last week and I lovvvvvveeeeeee this game. Anyone who likes baseball videogames needs to own it.
Guest Wonderboy Report post Posted April 11, 2002 Yeah, after I posted the topic, I looked around on sites to see what the reviewers thought, and every one of them had High Heat as the best, and every one of them had Triple Play as the worst. The only bad thing I read about High Heat was that the graphics weren't that great, but if the gameplay is as good as it sounds, I could care less about how much shine comes off Derek Jeter's helmet, or little things like that. So, after I figure out a way to get 50 bucks, I think I'm gonna go with High Heat. Thanks for the help.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I'm sorry, but All-Star Baseball is just as good, if not better than High Heat. The graphics arent as detailed as Triple Play, but damn are the motions fluid.
Guest Report post Posted April 12, 2002 If Sega releases a Visual Concepts programmed baseball game, make sure to pick that up. World Series 2K2 for Dreamcast is great. But if you're looking for something to pick up immediately, High Heat's your best bet.
Guest jimmy no nose Report post Posted April 12, 2002 World Series 2K2 for Dreamcast is great. I can't believe you just said that. WSB2K2 was the worst baseball game in years. Go with High Heat if you're looking for gameplay.
Guest Smues Report post Posted April 13, 2002 World series 2k2 was pathetic. Triple play was nearly as bad. All-star baseball was good, but nothing compares to high heat 2003. I am in love with this game. In no other baseball game have I had the desire to play a full 162 game scheudle of 9-inning games, but High heat is so good I'm 28 games into my season and don't think I'll have any trouble getting through the whole season. Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted April 13, 2002 Hey man, get High Heat. You should try renting it and All Star and make your decision. All Star has the better graphics and features a franchise mode and expansion mode which is fun being that you can start your own team and follow them for years but really who has time for that? High Heat has excellent gameplay producing realistic stats according to matchups and like everything is customizeable (is that even a word!?) You can edit players (so a few players like Benny Agbiani and Shane Spencer who aren't part of the union and therefore have fake names in the game, you can edit them and give them their real names) and edit any player's attributes to represent their progression in real life. You'll have to make some trades though to reflect many of the roster changes since Spring Training (for intstance Garry Sheffield is not on the Braves) but if you have a sharkport you can download a file that updates everything (I of course did it the hard way, a copy of baseball weekly in my lap with all the team's final rosters, and a couple hours of changes). Anyway, I'd say go for High Heat, the graphics aren't that bad and it really holds up. I found All Star fun at first but the game pace is way too slow and there's no abillity to customize and produce realistic stats.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted April 13, 2002 I'll throw in another recommendation for High Heat - no other game captures the actual feeling and mystique of what baseball is any better.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted April 16, 2002 High Heat is great. I can't stop playing it...I'm playing it right now.
Guest VerbalKint Report post Posted April 21, 2002 I've played all three and i'm gonna have to agree with everyone else, High Heat is the best of the three.
Guest Wonderboy Report post Posted April 23, 2002 Money is tight, so I still haven't gotten High Heat yet, even though as soon as I get spending money, that'll be the first thing I buy. Lately though, I've been playing my Sports Talk Baseball rom. Does anybody remember this game for Sega Genesis? Man, that game still rocks. Basically, after playing this nonstop, when I finally do get High Heat, the graphics will look TREMENDOUS. Atleast that's my plan.

Guest Invader3k Report post Posted April 24, 2002 Out of curiosity, has anyone played the PC version of High Heat 2003? I don't have any of the newer systems (stuck with the now dead Dreamcast currently) and just wondering if the PC version would be a nice alternative to the PS2 or whatever. Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 25, 2002 Hmm, guess I'm the only All-Star booster here. Of course, I haven't played High Heat at all. <<Money is tight, so I still haven't gotten High Heat yet, even though as soon as I get spending money, that'll be the first thing I buy.>> Go to Electronics Boutique, trade in 2 PS2, X-Box, or Gamecube games (whatever system you have) and you can get High Heat free. That's what I did to get ASB 2003, I traded Crazy Taxi and Triple Play Baseball. I'm pretty sure they are still running that promotion.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 28, 2002 I will also vouch for All-Star Baseball 2003. It reminds me of World Series Baseball for the Sega Genesis, which is the BEST baseball game ever.
Guest Wonderboy Report post Posted April 28, 2002 I would've done the Electronics Boutique thing, but I only have one PS2 game, and that's GTA3, and I still play that, so instead I went to http://www.spun.com and gave them a shitload of cds(and one game) I don't want anymore for High Heat 2003. Here is what they got. Have a great laugh at things I've bought in the past. I have no excuse for some of these. Brian McKnight/Ma$e: "You Should Be Mine" single Suthern Klick: "Small Tymin" 112: "112" Nine Inch Nails: "The Downward Spiral" Aaliyah: "One In A Million" Alien Ant Farm: "ANThology" Erykah Badu: "Baduism" Timbaland & Magoo: "Welcome To Our World" Lenny Kravitz: Greatest Hits Notorious B.I.G: "Ready To Die" Grand Theft Auto 1 Director's Cut(with GTA England) Nas: "I Am" Flipmode Squad: "Imperial Album" Redman: "Doc's Da Name" Snoop Dogg: "Still A G Thang" single Outkast: "Stankonia"(I have 2 copies of this) Bush: "Sixteen Stone" Majority being crap or not, I still think they are flipping me over and doing me dry, but once High Heat gets here, I doubt I'll care. Guest Wonderboy Report post Posted May 2, 2002 I got it in the mail yesterday, and it's fuckin awesome. The graphics are fine by me. And the gameplay is as good as I've ever played. So far I'm 2-4 on PRO with the Braves. And I was surprised, because I'd heard that the rosters were way behind, so I printed out all the rosters from mlb.com so I could get everything accurate on the game, but the only changes I had to make were putting Lofton on the Sox, Henderson on the (red)Sox, and Sheffield on the Braves. Anyway, thanks for all the help. Without the advice, I would have probably bought Triple Play. Oh, I sold Ready To Die just cause I haven't listened to it in a good while, they were offering $5.00, and I figure I can always pick it up cheap off eBay if I ever want it again.
