Guest Report post Posted April 11, 2002 Lance Storm Commentary: Busy Schedule I’m a bit pressed for time this week, due to a very hectic and busy road schedule. I’ve been asked a few times to give you guys a run down on what a typical week on the road for me is like, so I figured this was as good a time as any. This way I don’t need to be creative I can just give you a quick run down of the events of this past week. This week was a west cost loop, which is good for me. When the shows are on the east coast I have to leave ridiculously early to make up for the 2 hours I loose for crossing time zones. Our first show, this week, was Saturday night in Davis, CA. I didn’t have to leave till noon on Saturday, which is 6 hours later than usual for me. Even with the noon flight I had to leave my house at 9:45 am. I live about 30 minutes from the airport and since I clear US customs in Calgary I need a bit of time at the airport. I connected in Salt Lake City, and landed in Sacramento, CA. By the time I got my luggage and rental car it was about 4:45. It was a 30-minute drive to Davis, and once I found the building I only had time to hit Wendy’s for a bowl of chili and a couple grilled chicken sandwiches. (While traveling to the west coast is great, California bites because there are no Cracker Barrels there). After Wendy’s it was straight to the building for the show. It was a 7:30 show so we have to be there by 6:30. We only have to be 1 hour early for house shows. The show finished up about 10:30, but we didn’t get out of there till almost 11pm; I say we because I was traveling with Edge. (He had an appearance before the show, which is why I met him at the show instead of the airport) From Davis we had to drive 190 miles to Fresno, CA for a 1:30pm show the next afternoon. We stopped at a Denny’s to eat (very bad food week right from the start) and drove straight through. By the time we got to the Hotel in Fresno it was 3:30 am (The clocks went ahead an hour that night) and we were ready to pass out and die. With a 1:30 show we had to be at the building by 12:30 so we figure if we got up by 11:30 we could grab a quick bite and make the show on time. If we unpacked and crashed right away we might get 6 ½ hours sleep. (No gym on Saturday and we weren’t going to make it Sunday either. Not a good start to a road trip!) Sunday’s show ran till about 4pm and we had a 6pm flight to Phoenix, AZ, so we went straight to the airport from the show. Fortunately it was a small airport so we had time to grab a quick bite at the airport before we boarded. We landed in Phoenix at 7:45 but had a huge fiasco at National Car Rental and didn’t get out of there till after 9pm. The service at National was so bad that I will never rent from then again. Now 9pm isn’t too bad except for the fact our Monday show wasn’t in Phoenix it was in Yuma, AZ, which was 205 miles away. We were so worn out that we decided that we were done for the day and we were staying in Phoenix and would do the drive in the morning. With the bad food we’d been putting up with to this point we decided we were going to get a good meal if it killed us. We were following directions to a Lone Star Steak house but ended up at a Black Angus Steak house instead. The food was great and there was a Courtyard Marriott in the same parking lot. We finally had a good meal and a decent night sleep. Monday morning we ate breakfast at the hotel and got directions to a, 24 Hour Fitness. Finally, day three of the trip and we managed to hit the gym. Since we missed the last 2 days I decided to double up and I did both back and legs in one day. We got a protein shake at the gym and were back on the road. It took us about 2 ½ hours on the road to reach Yuma and got there just in time to hit the local Cracker Barrel before the show. The show ran till 10:30, we hit a diner and then hit the road because we needed to be in Tucson, AZ (235 miles) in the morning. We stopped just outside of Tucson at about 2:30am, partly because we were too tired to drive any further but mostly because there was another Cracker Barrel at this exit and would make for a great breakfast. We got up at 10am had a great breakfast and hit the gym. After the gym it was straight to the building for TV. On TV days we have to be there by 1pm so we didn’t have any extra time. TV, at least for me, as you’ve likely read on-line, was a disaster. The finish of my match got screwed up and even when the office tries to put me over I end up doing a job. I wrestled Funaki and during one of our near falls something got screwed up and I got pinned. I’m not sure if I just miss heard the count or whether the bell ringer miss heard it and rang the bell early but things didn’t go as planned and I got pined with a sunset flip. I got out of the show by 11pm grabbed 2 grilled chicken sandwiches from McDonalds (so much for the good food) and found a hotel. I got checked in by midnight and had to be up by 3:45am to catch my flight home. Instead of getting 3-½ sleep I stayed up and worked on-line. I caught my flight in the morning, connected in Salt Lake again and landed in Calgary at 11:30am. After Customs and immigration I got home just after 1pm, exhausted and tired. That’s pretty much my typical week. Sometimes the miles are a little less and I get to hit the gym more, but that’s as about as exciting as it gets. Not exactly a scenic tour of the US is it? Til next week, Lance credit: stormwrestling.com ----------------------------------------- Don't know about anyone else, but it sounds like he is making up excuses for the WWF making him do the job. Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I'll have to watch this match closely to see the reactions from the wrestlers and the ref. This will be Heat or Metal/Jakked?
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I guess we can call this the "Tuscon Screwjob". I can almost make out Vince saying under his breath "Lance screwed Lance"...
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted April 11, 2002 Damn, can someone tell me what is so special about Cracker Barrell???????
Guest Singular Report post Posted April 11, 2002 Cracker Barrell has good home cooking type food and a gift shop that sells the most useless crap on earth. My grandmother loves it. Does anyone think Lance will end up as a cruiser?
Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted April 11, 2002 What does Vince have against canadians?
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I'll have to watch this match closely to see the reactions from the wrestlers and the ref. This will be Heat or Metal/Jakked? Metal/Jakked. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like Lance's commentaries. Not always the most exciting stories, but they're honest and sometimes insightful if you're interested in the people behind the kayfabe. Plus, he's a lot more lucid than some of the crap you can read on the Web. And you can bet 9 times out of 8 I'd rather read his stuff than Big Poochie's. Guest RickyB Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I doubt that he's making excuses. Lance said that he doubts that they are going to air it. It's happened before, supposedly Sting pinned Booker T before in a dark match for the World Title on one WCW show in a dark match.

Guest Smeghead Report post Posted April 11, 2002 Like I said in the Smackdown spoilers thread, Storm's comments about a mistake in his match with Funaki make sense. After Funaki got the pin, they started playing Storm's music. Now I understand why they did. The production crew was told that Storm would win the match, so they had his music ready to go. When they heard the bell, they just hit the play button. They realized what had happened a minute later and switched to the KaiEnTai music.

I'm not completely sure, it's a story I heard in 2000 that in a dark match after an episode of Nitro Sting pinned Booker T because Booker forgot to kick out. If anyone knows more about it tell me because I just remember the story and someone commenting on how disorganised WCW was.

Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 11, 2002 Apple Bees is better. You can't even compare the two, it's like Apples and Oranges. Applebees has a regular menu, typical restaraunt, just like TGI Fridays, etc. Cracker Barrel is home country cooking.
Guest Report post Posted April 11, 2002 You know if Hogan wanted to I bet he could hit a HulkHokey sault. I mean if Funk can do one, anyone can right?
Guest RickyB Report post Posted April 11, 2002 You know if Hogan wanted to I bet he could hit a HulkHokey sault. I mean if Funk can do one, anyone can right? I wish. His muscles are too big for a start so they would weigh him down as he tried it, his knees are done in so he wouldn't be able to take himself over and to cap it off it would be way to dangerous at his age. I know Funk is something like 57 but he's got a lot smaller muscles so it's still kinda possible with him. It would sure pop the crowd though... could you imagine it? Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted April 11, 2002 I love Lance's commentaries. That really sucks about his match on Jakked. Anyone else know of any other times something like that has occured and the wrong person has won the match?

Anyone else know of any other times something like that has occured and the wrong person has won the match? The only one I know about off the top of my head from the "big three" is the Booker/Sting dark match and i'm still not COMPLETELY sure about the details to that. It has happened before though, i've read about it. The only other ones I know are from the indy's in Europe and no-one here will know (or care) about it happening there. Guest notJames Report post Posted April 11, 2002 Anyone else know of any other times something like that has occured and the wrong person has won the match? There was a match in Montreal, where one guy had the other guy in his own submission move, and the ref rang the bell prematurely, and... ... d'oh! And if you really want a comparison, Cracker Barrel is probably more akin to Perkins .Just guessing, as I've never been in a Cracker Barrel before, but Perkins has stuff like chicken-fried steak and the like. Guest What?! Report post Posted April 12, 2002 Anyone else know of any other times something like that has occured and the wrong person has won the match? Men On A Mission won their only WWF Tag Team Title because Mabel was too fat for one of the Quebecers to kick out. Damn, just when I thought Funaki can actually win a match on his own. Oh well. Perkins is basically just a step above Dennys so i don't know if you'd want to compare them to Cracker Barrel. I'm not a big fan of home cooking but Cracker Barrel has good food that fills you up good. They have damn good breakfast too. Big ass plates of probably damn near 10 pancakes with fresh fruit and sauce topping...good shit.
