Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 I don't know if these count but Unforgiven 1 & 2 are both songs that I like by Metallica, but I find a lot of their music to sound the same. Are there anymore like these?
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted April 11, 2002 Report Posted April 11, 2002 "Low Man's Lyric" "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" "The Outlaw Torn" (somwhat similar to "Unforgiven II" in aspects)
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 "Turn the Page" is slow compared to other Metallica songs.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 Fade to Black is the best metallica ballad, sanitarium in close second
Guest El Satanico Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 Is One considered a ballad? If so that's my pick...and also one of my favorites songs of thiers overall.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 well the covers album they did there's a bunch. On The Road Again Tuesday's gone (more country than ballad) Loverman
Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Posted April 12, 2002 Report Posted April 12, 2002 You guys can really kick ass when you want to.
Guest razazteca Posted April 17, 2002 Report Posted April 17, 2002 ONE from the In Justice for All album check out the Garbage Inc album especially the Til Tuesday cover
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Posted April 17, 2002 Report Posted April 17, 2002 I personally wouldnt want to count 'One' as a ballad...given the severe ass kicking it gives... my personally list of metalli-ballads: Fade to Black Call of Ktulu(maybe) Welcome Home(Sanitarium) Orion could fall into the category but its definitely not the conventional ballad type Nothing Else Matters Unforgiven 1 I dont know about the new ones cuz im an old head who doesnt listen to Nutallica.
Guest Choken One Posted April 17, 2002 Report Posted April 17, 2002 I would not count the covers for them but Fade to Black and Nothing Else Matters are tops for my ballads. One does not count, but if it did...it'll be #1.
Guest Mr. Adam Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 Hey put down "Mama Said" off the Load album also. The country style makes the track. also, "Hero Of The Day" off S&M is a standout song that w8ill be on my permanent winamp playlist.
Guest redbaron51 Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 Now what do you mean by ballad. A story song. Or something mellow. Anywho, Hero of the Day is probably the best Metallica ballad out there.
Guest toggle Posted April 18, 2002 Report Posted April 18, 2002 ballad or not, everyone in the entire world, nay! the universe, has to hear Orion. IMO, you can't really call yourself a Metallica fan if you don't own Master of Puppets. Their finest work and the pinnacle of their career. Not to say everything they've done since is bad, it's jus the MOP is that damn good. (hey, even Mojo agrees with me.)
Guest hobu0 Posted April 19, 2002 Report Posted April 19, 2002 Wait, how can you not consider one a ballad, but consider fade to black and sanitarium a ballad? Is it cuz of the lyrics? Cuz musically, they are very similar. Start out slow, then rock out at the end.
Guest DARRYLXWF Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 I've always like 'Until It sleeps' But FTB is their best. ...................bump
Guest converge241 Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 I count Orion Bleeding Me
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 What about that Ja Rule/Metallica ballad thing they were doing?
Guest Gamengiri2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 Their cover of "astronomy" is kind of mellow during the verses. "Fade to Black" "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" "One" "To Live Is To Die" (ballad in its intentions) "The Unforgiven" "Nothing Else Matters" "Mama Said" "Hero of the Day" "Bleeding Me" "The Outlaw Torn" "The Unforgiven II" "My Friend of Misery" "Low man's Lyric"
Guest redbaron51 Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 What about that Ja Rule/Metallica ballad thing they were doing? you mean Ja Rule and James Hetfield collabiration ....
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 You guys can really kick ass when you want to. Well i don't want to brag but...YES I KNOW WE CAN! My vote goes sqaurely towards the Unforgiven. The first Metallica song i ever heard, and i fell in love with the music the second i heard it, an epic song that has it all. And i agree with all the Orion praise goin' on around here, that instrumental is truly mind blowing, no-one does that sorta thing better than the boys from Metallica. Metal up Illusion - Referee for the Hetfield vs Rose contest...
Guest mesepher Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 that instrumental is truly mind blowing, no-one does that sorta thing better than the boys from Metallica. first off... could you be anymore closeminded? and secondly, how many instrumentals have you heard?
Guest Respect The 'Taker Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 that instrumental is truly mind blowing, no-one does that sorta thing better than the boys from Metallica. first off... could you be anymore closeminded? and secondly, how many instrumentals have you heard? FIRST OFF, im expressing MY opinion, look up the Declaration of Independace, you'll find that im entitled to it. SECONLDLY, ive heard many instrumentals, i feel as though Metallica perform those by which are more appealing to me PERSONALLY, its a taste thing. We done? good. Illusion
Guest converge241 Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 "you mean Ja Rule and James Hetfield collabiration " huh? isnt james barely in the song because he was in rehab while recording it?
Guest redbaron51 Posted September 13, 2002 Report Posted September 13, 2002 james played one note, and was re-used over and over again
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 14, 2002 Report Posted September 14, 2002 james played one note, and was re-used over and over again You talking about Blackened? or Damage inc.?
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted September 14, 2002 Report Posted September 14, 2002 "Fade To Black" is the best song ever, get it. "Whiskey In The Jar", "Unforgiven", "Turn The Page", "Sanitarium" etc. etc. Technically, "For Whom The Bell Toll's is a ballad, and the lyrics are cool so maybe you'd dig that.
