NOAH trying to sign new opponent to fight Kobashi

Zach Arnold is apparently reporting that NOAH wants to get Bob Sapp to come in to fight Kobashi for the GHC. I really hate the fact that Sapp is so over as far as the Japanese go. This guy sucks, and if he beats Kobashi (although doubtful) for the GHC I honestly think my head would explode.

Well, I suggest you prepare for the possibility of an exploding head, because Sapp sure as hell won't be losing to Kobashi; at least, not until K1 feeds him into the wood chipper with Mike Tyson. They'll have to either put the title on Sapp, run a cheap DQ/No Contest/Countout finish, or have them go broadway. The first two really hurt the title (though even defending it against Sapp is bad enough), and that last one I don't want to think about. ;)

NOAH is under pressure from Nippon TV to bring in Sapp, Nippon is a big financial supporter of NOAH.

If anyone ought to actually go over Sapp it's Kobashi, with his whole "fighting spirit" gimmick (for lack of better term) he's the perfect one to do it and it'd make the most sense.

Of course Hoost also went over Sapp at one of the Wrestle 1 shows but lets forget that ever happened, I know Mutoh probably is :)

The problem is that K1 would never, ever let Bob Sapp lose to a pro-wrestler. They already do everything they can to keep him from losing shoot fights, so allowing him to lose in a worked environment is just out of the question.

The Wrestle-1 loss to Hoost only happened because Hoost is also a K1 fighter and needed to get revenge for his two shoot losses to Sapp in 2002. Rather than risk the possibility of Hoost losing to Sapp three times in a row, they just booked them in a worked match on Wrestle-1 and had Hoost go over.

K1 is not interested in what makes sense for NOAH. Having Sapp work pro-wrestling cards makes sense for K1 because 1) Sapp's drawing power gives them the leverage to make sure he isn't booked to lose and 2) it allows them to keep him strong so that they can bring him in for the occasional money match like the recent one against Akebono.

I would have to say that they would do some kind of goofy finish. I honestly don't think that Sapp would get the GHC, but then again I don't know how much say Nippon TV has to actually make NOAH put the title around Sapp, but I like to think it won't happen.
