Obscure Gladiator movie

I was watching "Hercules in NY" today, and it got me thinking about another "Gladiator" movie i saw many years ago.

 

The only things i remember about it are:

 

1> The "good guys" are banding together, and they tell this guy he's not good enough to be in the group. So this guy says "If I can beat Hercules in a competition, can I join?" They all laugh and say sure, knowing Hercules is da man and all. So they have a discus toss into a body of water toward a rock. Hercules uses pure strength and Hits the rock dead on. The other guy "skips" the disc across the water and it goes past the rock. So he wins.

 

 

2> i don't think "Hercules" was the main character (I might be wrong)

 

3> The only other thing I remember is one of the group members gets put into a torture device where he is lowered into a pirranna tank or something similar.

 

Not much to go on, but I'm hoping:)
