UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Got it for $12.99 at GameStop. The guy at the counter was like "This game is gonna mess with you". It's very dark, lots of cinema scenes. Worth playing? Please, NO SPOILERS if it is. Your thoughts?
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Yes it's worth playing.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Yeah I read some great reviews on here that said I should get the game...it's pretty good so far. The battle is a little slow, but it's cool, if confusing.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 You know what, this game sucks. I saved it and it shows an "Empty" slow. Plus, it's incredibly dark, and the characters fighting styles, when you CAN see, thus far consist of "cut off the head, slash, finish". Lame.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Turn up the brightness on your TV then. Or don't appreciate a GotY candidate, whatever. WE'RE not responsable for your taste...
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 UTSU, I hope you didn't choose the Red symbol in the first level. That kinda notches up the difficulty and could make it not fun. Though it seems you have problems with the story and "dark" aspect of it. It ain't gonna get any lighter, so you might as well sell it to someone who will appreciate it. That being said, ED was all kinds of awesome. Great controls, fun gameplay, wicked story, and the funnest insanity effects around.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I'm gonna give it another try. FYI, I chose the green one... Starting over fresh. I'll pick blue. Turned up the brightness.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 What the fuck? You say you bought it THEN ask if it's worth playing?
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 Cheap buy recommended by a few, and the store. Great reviews. I SINCERELY apologize for bashing it earlier. THIS GAME FUCKING RULES. And there's stuff that's scaring the shit out of me...well, for a few seconds. And I'm like, at the 4th level, so you probably can guess right before that did it, lol. MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 I paid $50 bucks for it when it came out and it was worth it. I dont know of a game that got so much great reviews and word of mouth yet sold so horribly. I really dont understand it.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2004 This poor boy has no idea what he is in store for. He really doesn't.
Guest Doomsault Report post Posted January 11, 2004 Good game, get a little repetitive though. Almost every character is the same but just when its about to get tiring it changes and gets you back into it. Pretty good story and reasonably good graphics and gameplay. Don't let that meter go down!
Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 I loved playing the game, but by the end I was wanting it to end and just get over with. I can't wait for a sequel though, it has real promise.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 I dont know of a game that got so much great reviews and word of mouth yet sold so horribly. I really dont understand it. Beyond Good & Evil. Before the price drop, it only sold 2000 copies across all platforms.

Before the price drop, it only sold 2000 copies across all platforms. I knew it sold bad, but THAT bad? Holy shit. What in the hell is wrong with gamers? BG&E was my second favorite game of all of last year.
Matt Young 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 I almost got this game with my credit at GameCrazy a few weeks ago, but chose Resident Evil Remake instead. I love that game, and RE2 and Code Veronica are 2 of my top 10 favorite games ever, so I'm guessing Eternal Darkness would be a worthwhile purchase for the $15 they charge for it. Would I be correct in that assumption?
Downhome 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 Of course.
LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2004 ED is RE with a better story, better controls, and better gameplay. I played RE 0 after finishing ED, and RE was just so played out and boring. Then again, now I might have built up ED a bit too much. *shrugs*
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2004 BUY ETERNAL DARKNESS. That is all. Oh yeah, do NOT play it until... A)It's night time. B)Ya turn the lights off. It'll enhance the game 10-fold. And don't play it under the influence of marijuana...as you'll pay, dearly, in later levels. Then again, my "sanity" meter hasn't even been a quarter full in ages in this game. Jeez, kinda like my gas tank.
