MNW Extras

Here's the list of extras that's been floating around for a couple weeks now. Two good matches, and a whole lot of really bad ones.

-War Games from Wrestlewar 1991 *****

-Sting vs. Vader "White Castle of Fear" Strap Match from Superbrawl 3 ****1/2

-Doomsday match from Uncensored 1996 -***** This is the 8 on 2 match.

-Sting vs. Hogan from Starcade 1997 -****

-Nash vs. Hogan "FINGER POKE OF DEATH" match from Nitro. No explanation needed.

-Chris Benoit vs. Sid from Souled Out 2000 ***3/4 Benoit wins the title, then takes a walk.

-DDP & Davd Arquette vs. Eric Bischoff & Jeff Jarrett from Thunder. Ugh ugh ugh.

-Vince Russo 'versus' Kevin Nash where Russo wins the title. UGH

-Sid vs. Jeff Jarrett vs. Scott Steiner vs. Road Warrior Animal from Sin 2000 (Sid broken Leg match)

-Sting vs. Ric Flair from Nitro. Last WCW match ever.

If this is true and not BS, this is the GREATEST DVD EVER. Not for quality of content, but for sheer MATERIAL to work with.

About time they put WarGames on DVD, too.

Alright, so if this is true then the trailer is old and it has indeed been changed to "The Rise And Fall Of WCW".

That match listing SUCKS.

Actually, no way is it true, for two reasons. First, it says that the list has been floating around for a couple weeks. Well, this is the first any of us have heard of it. Second, no way the WWE, as tasteless as they are, would put the match where Sid breaks his leg on the DVD. They have at least some class.

Where is the greatest match ever from the 1st Nitro? Flying Brian vs Jushin Lyger?

What about Raven, Malenko, Jericho, Rick Martel, Booker T, Saturn, Scott Hall? And the rest of the midcard?

Damn it I need to see Scott Hall do a survey again!

War Games from 1996 is on the nWo DVD.

...with shitty music dubbed over the entrances so Michael Buffer's voice isn't heard

I'm surprised WWE can't use his likeness.

- Wargames: Sting, Rick Steiner, Scott Steiner & Brian Pillman v. Ric

Flair, Sid Vicious, Barry Windham & Larry Zbyszko. Larry is replacing

Arn Anderson, who was injured shortly before this. Pillman and Windham

start out. Pillman has got a big-ass shoulder tapejob. Windham goes

for the Wargames bladejob record by gushing two minutes into the first

period. Steve Austin would shatter the record the year after by tapping

an artery about 30 seconds in. The cage is so short that Pillman can

barely stand on the top rope, something which would come into play later

in the match. Pillman is absolutely beating the living hell out of

Windham for 5 minutes straight here. Kudos to Windham for selling like

a champ. Flair is next in (I think the coin toss is rigged) and Pillman

gets the beats put on him. Flair offers a groin thrust to Sting. The

Horsemen are just tossing Pillman around the ring at will. Sting makes

the save and goes bananas on Flair to a mega-pop. Flair pairs off with

Sting and they do their usual match. Larry Z is in next and Sting takes

him out with ease. Flair cheats and the Horsemen pound on Sting for a

bit and then take care of Pillman. Rick Steiner cleans house for the

faces to another hot reaction. Flair joins the bleeding pool. The

Horsemen are mercilessly hammering Pillman's shoulder. Sting bleeds.

Sid Vicious just pounds the hell out of everything that moves when he

gets in. Flair gets rubbed into the cage about 5 times. Rick keeps

getting rammed to the cage but no-sells every time. There's big red

blotch all over the cage from Flair's head. Big Poppa Pump is last in

for the faces. Sid Vicious calls a spot with Rick Steiner while on

camera. Vicious rams Pillman into the turnbuckle shoulder-first a few

times and then rips off the tape. The faces all get figure-fours on the

Horsemen in a very a cool moment. The faces continue the assualt on

everyone but Sid Vicious, who won't go down. Vicious takes out Sting

and the Steiners, leaving Pillman to take on the Horsemen. Then Sid

takes over on Pillman. In the ugliest moment in Wargames history, Sid

powerbombs Pillman, hitting his head on the top of the cage and nearly

breaking his neck legit, and then he picks up the half-dead Pillman and

does it again. Pillman is temporarily paralyzed and El Gigante

improvises by running in from the dressing room and throwing in the

towel. The crowd is in shock at the sudden ending. Still, an easy

***** match.

Like I predicted it earlier, 5% of the DVD will be the rise (good), and 95% will be the fall (sucked). So maybe we'll get a few brief clips of Midcarders and Cruiserweights while Nash and Hogan are featured.

Since I'm stuck on the fall of WCW, how the HELL did Russo win the title?!

-Sting vs. Hogan from Starcade 1997 -****

Cool

Unless you're a Hogan fan, there wasn't anything cool about this match.

In what should have been the blowoff to the whole NWO angle, Hogan pinned Sting...CLEAN. Then, Bret Hart restarts the match due to the supposed "fast count" by Nick Patrick. This match made Sting (who was the top face) look weak.

It is cool in the "train wreck" sense

Especially since that began the construction of WCW's casket

Ummm if part of the point of the DVD is to show why WCW went to shit then they HAVE to show the Hogan/Sting match and the Finger Poke of Doom. Seriously you couldn't talk about the fall of WCW without those two matches.

WTF?!!

Depending on what the title actually is, Death of WCW, Fall of WCW.

Throwing Benoit/Guerrero, Rey/Dragon, and Malenko/Guerrero wouldn't make much sense.

I'm totally digging the idea these matches. I loved WCW, and the shit they put on was very entertaining at the same time in my mind.

Just put the creative team meetings on DVD, and thats your downfall. (From 1999-2001)
